I heard on another thread that the age restriction had been lightened, that characters as young as thirteen can now be used. Is this true? Can any admins confirm? I don't want to post my underage stories and then get banned again.

 

The new rule is nice, if it is for real. It doesn't even mention an age. It simply says no pedophilia. It is simple and clear. Anyone who doesn't understand it needs help.

I'm not looking for any promises from the admins that the rules are going to stick. All I'm asking for is an assurance that if they start fucking with the rules again, after I've resumed posting stories, I will be able to get my thread(s) deleted on request. Killing one's own threads was always easy in the past. The mods would nix a story thread on request.

It hasn't been answered. Possibly the admin is just taking the weekend off. Maybe she's simply on vacation. Who could blame her?

But you can't base a rule on quality of writing, because that's subjective. If the rule was "Only good writers may employ underage characters," either nobody would think they were allowed to write anything or EVERYBODY would think they were allowed to write something, and in both cases folks would be wrong. A content standard has to be based on just that: content, not post-hoc critique.

I'm not going to pretend like the previous status quo didn't engender some really troubling material, and if it was my site I honestly don't think I'd want to foster a lot of that content either. But there is plenty of distasteful material to go around no matter what the rule are; at some point, you have to accept that the same rules that allow the creation of worthwhile media also allows for trash. And everything is trash to someone.

BlackRonin, it appears to me that some of the writers remaining here are of the opinion that the restoration of freedom of expression on this forum is tantamount to some sort of defeat. I perceive resentment and a predilection to lash out irrationally at anyone who neglects to regard this change as anything more than utter disaster. I am at a loss to understand the animus.

Free speech zones are not safe spaces. Freedom of expression is a meaningless term if it does not protect that with which one disagrees.
