Is this what it's come to? Moving statues, changing street and school names! Lets change Washington D.C. how about "Al Sharpton D. C". Thank that would make him happy?

That is a misconception that the left makes, that there are and should be "black leaders" or "hispanic leaders" or even "women's leaders" while it's wrong that there might be "white leaders." The press is wrong to think that Black Lives Matters speaks for all blacks or that the KKK might speak for all white people. Or barely any people except for fringe extremists.

The University of Virginia was built by slaves for Jefferson. I say tear them all down. While we're at it, Washington was a slave owner, as were most of the first presidents. Tear down every statue and monument associated with them too. Rename every building and park too. Did Betsy Ross have slaves? Burn all American flags!

I don't hear anyone from the left denouncing Al Sharpton.

However, nearly all Republicans including president Trump have condemned and denounced the hatred and violence be it Charlottesville or anywhere else...

 

By remaining silent about Sharpton, Antifa and BLM, liberals are actually condoning their actions.

I have always been against public displays of hate and violence. Large groups of protesters will often take on a group mentality. Anyone familiar with large groups of people like this gathering with opposing protesters on the other side knows it is a recipe for trouble.

The difference being of course that Jefferson and Washington fought for this nation. They helped create it. They helped build it. While the confederates were traitors to the United States of America and tried to destroy it so they could keep their slaves. And these statues and flags actually came up from the 1920's-60's to celebrate racism, white supremacy, and segregation.

The Interview was not directed by or involve in any way Rush Limbaugh. But you already knew that.
The Confederate war was a critical time in this nation's history. The Confederates fought and died for what they believed, and that included states rights as well as slavery. It is our history. Instead of tearing it down and denying it, we should examine it and understand it. It is, for better or worse, our history.

And by the way, in the 60's the rainbow meant something entirely different than it does today. It was the symbol of the peace movement during the Viet Nam protests. Before that it was the symbol of the international Co-op Movement. And, since 2005 it's been the symbol of the Patriots of Russia. Shall we remove it, now that we know what it stands for?
