I work with hot (powered up) electronics. I wear no jewelry of any kind because it can turn into an electrode and kill you. My wife doesn't wear one either, because when we got married we figured a ring wasn't necessary.

 

If things go as planned and Leila and I tie the knot, I'm not sure if I'll be able to wear it or not. I'm not a jewelry guy. About the only accessory I can tolerate is a watch.

In high school, when I got my class ring, I gave it to Leila. It was too big for her to wear so she put it on a necklace. My mom got pissed and make me take it back and I lost it after a week because I had to take it off to wash my hands (I can't stand when water gets under there and doesn't dry). I left it on the sink in the boys room in my school, realized it about an hour later, and it was no where to be found. If I had let Leila keep it, I'd probably still have it. I'm not sure how she'd feel if I didn't want to wear the band because it was uncomfortable. Maybe I could put it on a necklace as well.

Why do you do this to me ShakeZula? Is it to make me let my guard down because nearly the same thing happened to my highschool ring? And my wife still has hers and I'd still have mine if I'd have left it with her.

Is it to prove me wrong on an inner level where I was abolutely concvinced that ShakeZula was incapable of being cute and adorable?

Whatever it is, its to much of a shock to my psychi to be reading one of your posts and feeling like an Angry German KId and then stumble on something like this.

Leila, I've tried to never ask you for anything but you could do me one favor now. Take Shake up on the riing on a chain idea. Please, even if its only long enough to get a picture of it and send it to me.

I can understand at some work places it would be rather unconvenient or even dangerous to wear a wedding ring (any kind of jewelry really). And then there are the widowers and other people living in unfulfilling marriages. That is also kind of understandable. But any other reason than that I just don't understand why people wouldn't want to wear the ring! When you are in love and sharing your life with someone else isn't it natural to want to tell everyone how happy and content you are?

 

You hit the nail right on the head. At my workplace, I don't wear a ring, but I take it off at work and put it on when I leave. When I forget, it bothers me the whole night, especially if we go out. When I was married to my ex-wife of 21yrs, I used to wear a ring all the time till our frequency of being intimate reduced to less than once a month. For the last 8 or 9yrs of our marriage I would not put the ring on till we at least made love a few times a month for three months in a row. She never made the effort, the ring never went back on. I am still very close to her, but she was never into sex. My marriage now is very different and I wear my ring as a symbol of my love and my commitment to her.

 

I don't wear mine. She doesn't wear hers often. We both play separately if the opportunity presents itself.

yes i always wear mine...I'm not a big fan of jewerly though..esp in the hot summer days,
it bothers my hand. There was a long period I went w/o it, but not by my choice... misplaced it a few times (at a brothel and strip bar- joking)

 

I would personally be upset if my husband didn't wear his regularly (which he does). Maybe I'm old fashioned.

 

I wear my ring 24/7. Even though I work with Electronics with high voltages and RF, I'm just careful when working, and usually only do hands on work with the equipment powered down anyways.

 

Ah, that's the difference. The hardware I work with is powered up. I don't fancy having a ring welded to the bone of my finger. It would really screw up guitar playing.

 

My husband only wears his when he's not working. I hardly ever wear mine either. I can't sleep with it on because the middle stone gets caught on the blankets and I seem to always forget to put it back on.

No I don't were mine. I almost lost my finger...it got hooked on a bolt, and it went to the bone...not a very nice feeling. The rest of the ring is in her jewelry box...after it was cut off my finger.

The Ring was no great loss, it was a 12 dollar wallmart special...lol.
We were dirt poor,and that was all we could scrape up at the time (27yrs ago)Wow... We've came a long way sence then, I guess you don't need a Ring on your finger to know who your mate is, now do we?...lol.
