There's an electronic gizmo that will get rid of crickets????? WHY haven't you told me this before????? But thanks for mentioning it!! I'll have to check the local Lowes...Home Depot's all the way in Asheville.

Lowes will have them. They're not very expensive. I think I paid $25.00 for 3. They plug in the wall sockets and send out a silent electronic tone (silent to humans).

I've had three of them plugged in my place for a few years now, and I seldom have any insects inside.

Once I had a problem with fire ants, but that was a long time ago. Those little suckers bite and are hard to get rid of..

 

Will have to go to Lowe's tomorrow...I can't wait to get rid of the crickets!! Spraying poison in the house is not an option.

I heard grits are great for getting rid of fire ants. They ingest it, swell and then explode! :twisted:

 

I'm thinking of going camping......SOON.

 

The South wall of my place was the wall that the summer sun heated--and my microwave, kitchen, and septic tank are all on that side of the house. Fire ants got into the fiberglass insulation, and then ate their way into the kitchen right through the dry wall.

I tore off the outside wall and tore out the insulation and sprayed using the least toxic spray made from natural plants available, then replaced the wall with new insulation and with metal siding anchored with deck screws, so that area could be inspected from time to time.

Then I finally built an enclosed porch with a cement deck to cover that side of the entire house, and especially the ground right outside the kitchen.... It was a big job, and working alone took about 2 years to complete, but I love doing that kind of work so it was sorta' fun.

Finally, no more ants. I"ve tried grits, and they do work on small hills of the ants..

I hope you won't have to go to such extreme measures to get rid of your crickets.. !!

 

I didn't see one cricket today, but there were TWO EFFN HUGE SPIDERS in my living room at the same time! I'm about ready to climb the walls!!

 

Spider has been busy expanding its web operations onto another plant I just put up next to the pot it's in. Do spiders think?? Did it say to itself "Oh look...there's another plant...I think I'll spin more web and improve my odds at catching something to eat."

And after the other two big spiders in my living room tonight, it's a good thing Spider stays in its web or else it would've gotten "eliminated."

 

Antibiotics will rescue me from feeling so shit.
