It has nothing to do with when you join though, as I said in that thread. You could be here a day and not be a "noob" at the end of it. You could be here for years and still be a "noob" because you've done nothing to earn being anything but that.

It makes you feel calmer too, doesn't it? It's like the blue brings out my baser instincts/urges, like it's calling to them.

Random thought: I kind of want a "harem" type of social group on here but I don't want to post pics in order to get female members interested in me like that.

Yup. It's the same thing with being in a light-colored room too actually. "Bright" and "dark" colors both are too detrimental. You need something that makes you feel like you're at the beach or something

Well aren't you special? Seriously though, it's something I've always wanted to do, growing up around nothing but forest and other nature like that.. and buildings/stores/etc.

Funny you two are talking about this because just today in class the instructor was talking about good lighting when you read and she mentioned something I've never heard of before...irlen syndrome. It's where the brain doesn't process the light spectrum correctly and black print on white paper can especially mess up some people's brains. She passed around colored sheets of plastic we could put over our pages to see if any of them made us feel better or calmer. I especially liked the blue one, but on here, I don't like the blue screen.

That is also a problem with dyslexics...My sister has dyslexia as does my father and a few of my friends and all of them have problem reading black print on white paper...but change the paper colour and they can read it fine (doesn't work by changing the text colour though...weird)

 

Thing is though, I LOVE the blue. It calls to me. It draws me in. It brings out everything and sucks me into the forum. The forum in blue is the same interface the video games I get addicted to and sucked into are.. things like Madden, The Show, NBA Live.. all of those games with Dynasty and Franchise modes where you can end up spending 50 seasons working on a nonexistent team.

The white kills that and makes me see this as just a place to type text into. That happens to be what I need sometimes.

That is really interesting! I think it's a stroke of genius of the person who came up with the concept of trying to use different colored paper for these reading problems!!

 

I actually know of a dyslexic that says he can focus on the individual letters if he concentrates hard enough. But if he were to write something out, it is spelled phonetically. I've learned to decipher his colloquialisms.

 

I'm not entirely sure where your from...but in Britain a lot of kids are taught during spelling tests to spell things phonetically.

The majority of the time it's the best way if you're unsure...I still use it today when there isn't a dictionary lying around the place
