Fox News’ Tucker Carlson Loses Patience With Donald Trump: ‘I Don’t Think He’s Capable’
“I don’t think he’s capable of sustained focus. I don’t think he understands the system,” Carlson said in an interview with a Swiss magazine.

Tucker Carlson is usually quick to go after critics of President Donald Trump on his nightly Fox News show.

But in a new interview with conservative Swiss magazine Die Weltwoche, the “Tucker Carlson Tonight” host called out Trump himself for his boastfulness and for failing to keep his promises to voters.

“His chief promises were that he would build the wall, de-fund Planned Parenthood and repeal Obamacare, and he hasn’t done any of those things,” said Carlson, per The Washington Post.

Carlson said he’d “come to believe” Trump’s role was “not as a conventional president who promises to get certain things achieved to the Congress and then does.”

“I don’t think he’s capable,” Carlson explained. “I don’t think he’s capable of sustained focus. I don’t think he understands the system. I don’t think the Congress is on his side. I don’t think his own agencies support him. He’s not going to do that.”

Carlson said it was “mostly” Trump’s fault that he hadn’t been able to deliver on his pledges, because “you really have to understand how” the legislative process works and “be very focused on getting it done.”

Trump “knows very little about the legislative process, hasn’t learned anything, hasn’t surrounded himself with people that can get it done, hasn’t done all the things you need to do so. It’s mostly his fault that he hasn’t achieved those things. I’m not in charge of Trump,” he added.

Instead, Carlson suggested Trump’s role had been “to begin the conversation” on issues such as immigration — which the conservative TV host has frequently and fervently railed against.

Carlson criticized Trump in March for suggesting guns should be preemptively removed from potentially dangerous people, and in January for hinting at a deal to protect young undocumented immigrants.

Fox News analyst shoots down complaints about Mueller: His probe has turned up a ‘treasure trove’ of evidence

A Fox News judicial analyst began laughing Tuesday when a host asked him whether special counsel Robert Mueller is soon to “wrap up” his investigation into President Donald Trump.

“This is gravely serious,” Judge Andrew Napolitano told Fox host Dana Perino. “I’m only laughing because there’s so much coming at once.”

Napolitano acknowledged that a “phase” of Mueller’s investigation is coming to a close — but that the investigation itself is not yet over.

He then listed reasons for why he doesn’t think the special counsel is in his last act:

“One: he keeps getting new evidence,” the analyst said. “He got a treasure trove from [Trump’s former attorney and “fixer” Michael] Cohen.”

“Two: he still has about 16 or 18 Russians that he has to try, he’s gonna try them in absentia,” Napolitano added.

He then added that federal prosecutors in New York say “they have evidence that the president paid Cohen to commit a crime, which is itself a felony.”

“They can’t leave that dangling,” Napolitano concluded. “They have to do something.”

Fox & Friends’ Brian Kilmeade: Pelosi Was Better Than Trump at Passive Aggressive ‘Brawling Tactics’

On Wednesday, Brian Kilmeade suggested that House Minority Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) was the stronger presence during her combative exchange with President Trump at the White House.

Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) continue to draw major media attention because of their debate with Trump where they told him they won’t vote to approve a southern border wall as part of Congressional spending on border security. As *Fox & Friends reviewed the scrap, Kilmeade seemed to praise Pelosi by saying “she has a better way” of using Trump’s preferred kinds of brawler tactics.

“If you look, Nancy Pelosi started it. Looked back at this tape. She has the same brawling tactics that the president has. She just has a better way of doing it. She’s more passive aggressive. ‘If the president sits on this wall, it will be the Trump shut down.’ ‘Excuse me, that’s not the Trump shut down. I need the wall. Here we go.’ Every time they go to close it, one of the three would add something and would bring it all back. President Trump is a felon: Fox News legal analyst

On Wednesday, President Donald Trump’s former personal attorney pleaded guilty to crimes involving a scheme to pay off two women Trump had affairs with.

Fox News host Shep Smith discussed the developments with the network’s legal analyst Andrew Napolitano, who said Trump appears to be in deep trouble.

“We learned that the federal prosecutors here in New York City, not Bob Mueller and his team in Washington D.C., career prosecutors have evidence that the president of the United States committed a felony by ordering and paying Michael Cohen to break the law,” he said. “How do we know that? They told that to a federal judge and under the rules, they can’t tell that to a federal judge unless they have the evidence.”

Napolitano said the prosecutors who handled this are pros—and that this increases his confidence they got it right.

“The U.S. Attorney in Manhattan, a Donald Trump appointee taking a page from Jeff Sessions book, recused himself, leaving this case in the hands of the full-time career professional prosecutors,” he said. “They’re the ones that prosecuted Michael Cohen, told the federal judge that Donald Trump orchestrated these unlawful payments.”

Trump appears to be guilty of a felony, said Napolitano.

“The felony is paying Michael Cohen to commit a felony. It’s pretty basic,” he said, explaining how hiring someone to commit a crime makes you guilty of that crime. “You’re liable, criminally liable for the commission of that crime. That’s what the prosecutors told the federal judge.”

As the co-hosts of Fox & Friends rallied to defend their favorite president, as their colleague, senior judicial analyst Andrew Napolitano, continued to confront them with the implication of Donald Trump in conviction of his former lawyer Michael Cohen.

“A very, very telling statement came out of the judge’s mouth yesterday after he read all the documents and heard all the arguments from the government prosecutors in D.C., prosecutors in New York, Michael Cohen, and his lawyers, and that was about the president,” Napolitano said. “The judge finding that the president ordered and paid for Michael Cohen to commit a crime.”

Hosts Steve Doocy and Brian Kilmeade responded by asking “what crime” and suggesting it wasn’t illegal because it was “out of his own pocket,” and not from the campaign.

“Donald Trump has said that that was not a campaign violation because it wasn’t involving the campaign. It was a damage control payment,” Doocy addded.

Napolitano then broke down why exactly Trump’s actions constitute a crime:

“Unfortunately, the president wasn’t in the courtroom, and the people who were, the federal prosecutors, who had a statement from David Pecker, the guy that owns the — National Enquirer said it was for the campaign, the prosecutors said it was for the campaign, Michael Cohen said it was for the campaign. The president wasn’t there. Maybe he should have had lawyers there. So, if you make an honest mistake in failing to report something, or if you take $100,000 and you’re only supposed to take $2,500, you can correct that by returning the money, paying a fine and correcting the report. If you do this as part of a scheme to hide it, then it’s not a civil wrong, then it’s a crime. That’s what the judge found yesterday.”

Sharing a clip of Fox News legal analyst Andrew Napolitano breaking the news to the Fox & Friends hosts that Donald Trump did indeed break the law, an MSNBC panel focused on the conservative network’s coming break-up with the president as his legal woes worsen.

In particular, AM Joy host Joy Reid reveled in the fact that there appears to be widening fractures in the relationship between Trump and his favorite cable network.

“Are we seeing sort of a disturbance in the force?” Reid quipped to MSNBC contributor Gabriel Sherman. “Some people at Fox can’t stay on the talking points.”

“I love in the clip where Steve Doocy was shocked,” Sherman laughed. “He was like — there was like a glitch in the Matrix and suddenly like truth came through and he said, ‘What crime had he committed?'”

“I think there are moments but I think ultimately, you know, the network is still behind him,” Sherman added. “The question is when does the audience turn on Trump? This is a ratings game for Fox. If they start to see the ratings erode, you’ll see more and more hosts break with the Steve Doocey .”

“When the viewers of Fox News hear that or hear Shep Smith who breaks it down and keeps it real, is that something they view as their network being fair and balanced or is this something that they just utterly reject and ultimately management says do less of that?” Reid asked.

“I think they utterly reject it,” media analyst Eric Boehlert suggested. “That’s the whole idea of Fox News, you hear this over and over again. The problem for Trump is that Fox isn’t going to be enough.”

Ried went to suggest that Fox may lose viewers to Sinclair Broadcasting if their support of Trump falters.

On Sunday morning, President Donald Trump used a decidedly mobster-esque tone when he called his former fixer Michael Cohen a “rat.”

“Remember, Michael Cohen only became a “Rat” after the FBI did something which was absolutely unthinkable & unheard of until the Witch Hunt was illegally started,” Trump wrote.

Then, breaking out into all-caps, he continued on: “They BROKE INTO AN ATTORNEY’S OFFICE! Why didn’t they break into the DNC to get the Server, or Crooked’s office?”

Fox News contributor and Contributing Editor at National Review Andrew McCarthy, however, suggested to Trump he may want to lay off the mob talk.

*“Sir, in mobster lingo, a ‘rat’ is a witness who tells prosecutors real incriminating info,” McCarthy advised. “Perhaps a different word? Searches of lawyer’s offices common enough that DOJ has a procedure for them. Here it yielded evidence of crimes you said he should be jailed for. You should stop.”

“Fox & Friends” co-host Brian Kilmeade on Monday went off on an angry tirade over all the investigations being launched into President Donald Trump — but his rant may not have been as helpful to the president as he may have intended.

While going through all the probes that the president faces, Kilmeade inadvertently compared Trump to John Gotti, the infamous mobster who died while in prison in 2002.

“If you look at the president’s campaign, his inaugural committee, his administration, everyone around him, I have never seen a legal offensive attack in my life on even John Gotti,” Kilmeade fumed. “Why is this allowed?”

Kilmeade then accused Democrats of trying to completely block Trump from governing — despite the fact that the majority of investigations currently plaguing the president were authorized by Trump’s own appointees.

“They refuse to let this man be president!” he said. “They’re going right for his jugular!”

Fox News slowly starting to turn on Trump — and it could ‘turn into a landslide’: CNN

A CNN panel discussing Donald Trump’s ongoing — and increasing — legal woes turned to Fox News’ coverage of the president, which seems to be turning against him.

Noting that afternoon anchor Shep Smith has turned up the heat on Trump even more so than usual, hosts John Berman and Alisyn Camerota pointed to a recent interview on the Fox host’s show that featured Fox legal analyst Andrew Napolitano, who has been unsparing in his analysis of possible indictments against Trump.

“The judge is a good guy and a good lawyer and a serious person and that’s Shep Smith’s show,” CNN legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin offered. “But that is like the journalism zone of the Fox Network. That’s not prime time. Prime time is crazy night.”

“But [Napolitano] has been on other shows basically fact-checking the president,” CNN correspondent Nia-Malika Henderson protested. “Fact-checking Giuliani when Giuliani says this isn’t a crime, you know, in terms of the campaign finance violation — it’s fascinating.”

“We know the president keeps his channel locked on Fox News, sometimes he watches it on repeat, he obviously watches CNN, too,” she continued. “So to hear him consistently go against the talking points of this White House is fascinating to see that on Fox News.”

“Well, it is simply called ‘telling the truth,'” Toobin offered.

“I think this is the result of what started now almost ten days ago on that Friday with the court filing,” former White House spokesperson Joe Lockhart observed. “There are people like the judge, Andrew McCarthy is another big Fox person and he has now written an op-ed changing his tune and being critical of the president.”

“I think there are constitutional people who realize they are still going to want to be able to talk in the post-Trump era who are beginning to turn,” he continued. “It’s one of those things where it starts as a trickle and could turn into a landslide.”

“You know, at some point there’s going to be intense pressure for all of the people who have been defending him as more and more comes out to take another look at this. I think we saw that on Fox in the last couple days,” he added.

Fox News’ Outnumbered Trashes Flynn: ‘It’s Baffling That the President Has Defended Him’

Outnumbered had a lot to sort through on Tuesday reacting to the shocking developments at Michael Flynn‘s sentencing hearing.

Harris Faulkner asked the panel whether President Donald Trump should pardon Flynn for his lies to the FBI, Lisa Boothe said it was “troubling” Flynn didn’t register as a foreign agent while serving as White House National Security Adviser at the same time. And Melissa Francis — recalling that Trump fired Flynn at first because he caused Vice President Mike Pence to unwittingly lie to the country.

“These are huge, huge problems,” Francis said. “It’s why he got fired, that’s why it’s baffling the president has defended him, and we want to know with the president knew.”

Andrew Napolitano, today’s #OneLuckyGuy, got in the mix by raising questions of when Trump learned about Flynn’s work as a foreign agent. This led to a discussion about whether the government needs to tighten up the laws for former Federal officials who undertake the agendas of other countries in national politics.

Eventually, when the panel arrived at Trump’s recent, sympathetic statements about Flynn, Napolitano called the president the “loser” on this front because “he ought to have known what Michael Flynn was up to.”

“The president is so far the loser in all of this,” Napolitano said. “The president has minimized what General Flynn has done and rejects saying that he committed treason.”

The judge continued to pan Trump for his tweets about Flynn, arguing the president is disregarding the legal seriousness of the crimes for which Flynn is being sentenced. Napolitano’s comments came just after Judge Emmet Sullivan lambasted Flynn at the hearing, briefly suggesting his acts were treasonous.

Fox guest reveals to Shep Smith why New York’s attorney general could take down Trump before Mueller does

On Tuesday, the New York Attorney General’s office announced that it had secured an agreement to disband President Donald Trump’s personal charity as part of a lawsuit into the organization’s many alleged misdeeds.

Fox News host Shep Smith dedicated two segments to the charity scam, which infamously included paying $10,000 for a portrait of Trump.

Former prosecutor Bob Bianchi said that the news about Trump’s charity folding under the weight of state-level prosecution was possibly more consequential than the day’s developments related to former Trump aide Michael Flynn.

“The attorney general is very specific,” Smith said.

“The attorney general was basically saying that these were willful violations, that they were being used for the campaign and personal reasons, which clearly is a violation of the charitable organization law,” Bianchi said. “The language was written in a civil context because that’s what this is right now, but you can translate that into a criminal context—that says ‘fraud,’ ‘tax evasion,’ and ‘lying about charitable contributions.'”

Bianchi said that he thinks this case might catch up with Trump faster than the Mueller investigation because it’s New York state.

“I’ve been yelling and screaming for over a year about state crimes—that’s the thing everybody keeps missing,” he said. “The state crime issues are beyond the pardon power of the president and the state crime issues are not subjected to this DOJ memo, to whatever extent it means you cannot indict a sitting president.”

Bianchi went on to explain why he believes Mueller may also have sealed indictments against Trump.

Now it is no secret Fox and Friends is Trump's favorite show and he watches it every morning because they are his loudest cheerleaders . In fact there are multiple examples of Trump tweeting out everything from attacks to policy decisions moments after something he saw on Fox and Friends. Additionally if someone in his administration wants to talk him into something or out of something the best way to get his attention is to go on Fox and Friends. And there are also reports of members of Trump's inner circle asking Fox and Friends to say some positive and flattering things about Trump just to cheer him up.

So considering that this is pretty significant. And take note of who all is under attack.

‘Fox & Friends’ Turns on Trump, Kellyanne Conway for ‘Softening’ on Border Wall Funding

“Fox & Friends” was not happy after news emerged Tuesday that President Trump will back down from his threat to shut down the government if Congress does not allocate funding for his long-promised border wall. On set, show co-host Steve Doocy expressed disbelief and called it a victory for Democrats and Nancy Pelosi.

*“What a stunning turn of events,” Doocy said. “If he agrees to the [continuing resolution] which would continue funding the government at the current levels … he loses and the Democrats will win everything they want.”

“Some are wondering ‘is this a win for Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer?'” fellow co-host Ainsley Earhardt said, to which Doocy shouted “yes” before she could even finish her sentence.

Things only got more hostile after White House counselor Kellyanne Conway came on set.

“The president has no leverage,” Brian Kilmeade said.

“That’s not true, the president always has leverage, I disagree with that,” Conway shot back.

“Where does it come from?” Kilmeade demanded.

“Paul Ryan doesn’t want the wall,” Doocy added before Conway could fully answer.

Per usual, Conway attempted to deflect any blame away from Trump and instead criticized congressional Republicans for “taking the path of least resistance” and of course, the House’s incoming Democratic majority — but the show was not having it.

“People who voted for him and want the wall and went to the polls to vote for that wall, they want to know how he’s going to do this and they want to know why he seems to be softening his stance this morning,” Earhardt said.

As Doocy noted, it was only a week ago that Trump took a combative tone with “Chuck and Nancy” in the Oval Office and said bluntly he would be prepared to shut down the government if the border wall (originally supposed to be paid for by Mexico) were not fully funded by the Congress.

“If we don’t get what we want one way or the other, whether it’s through you, through a military, through anything you want to call, I will shut down the government, absolutely,” Trump told Schumer on live television. “And I’ll tell you what, I am proud to shut down the government for border security, Chuck, because the people of this country don’t want criminals and people that have lots of problems, and drugs pouring into our country.”

The advertiser boycott against Fox News host Tucker Carlson appears to be having a significant impact on his primetime show. According to CNN, Wednesday night’s episode of Tucker Carlson Tonight had four commercial breaks—down from the usual five—with just 20 regular ads (not including in-house promos for Fox content). The week before Carlson said immigrants were making America “dirtier,” his show was averaging 36 regular ads per broadcast. More than two dozen companies have announced that they will no longer place ads on Carlson’s program due to his inflammatory immigration rhetoric. The host has refused to apologize for the comments and Fox News had defended him against “far left activist groups with deeply political motives.”
