The Uk has joined other countries like Australia, Netherlands, Spain and Brazil in testing the BCG vaccine on front line workers because it evokes a general immune response that gives some protection against covid-19!

I consider the herd immunity thing always was bogus.

Several reasons.
1st , there is no information there is any long term immunity gained from having the infection.
Short term immunity is just a misleading possibility , unless you gain quick control and full eradication before the immunity expires.
It gives false expectations.

2nd ;
The real experts say real herd immunity requires as close to 90% having it , and certainly over 80% ,
which when you work out the known infectiousness , and the time lines of carrying and being a spreader , and superspreaders who are asymptomatic , and all other knowns , makes very good sense.

Some were claiming 70% would do it.
How the fuck ?
when 30 out of every hundred can still get it ,
and quite likely at least one of those 30 will die.
That is not herd immunity ,
and to get there , up to 3 in every hundred who are supposedly contributing to the cause ,
will die ,
along with an as yet unknown ,
but apparently quite high number/percentage of those lucky immunity contributors suffering serious , debilitating long term effects (which are becomming increasingly apparent , but seem to be being Glossed Over by many so far.

 

A good piece of Australian research has demonstrated the stability of the novel covid-19 virus means it can survive on things like paper money in your wallet for up to 28 days.

I'm still in social distancing mode. I haven't shook a hand once since February doing fist bumps or elbow bumps instead. I've been offered handshakes
many times, and throwing a fist bump seems to be acceptable and acknowledged as a friendly handshake.
