I was arrested one time only - in the middle of the night wandering around my high school getting books from my locker that I needed for a report that was due by the time we got back from Easter break. I did not resist. It was really a trip.
Literally - I was on acid.
Released with no charges by 7 am.

 

I will say again that anyone who commits violence, property damage, looting, or vandalism need to be arrested and put in jail. But I fully support the BLM protests and would join them if there was a protest near me. Racist police must be stopped from killing Black people. And the only way to do that is get into the streets and demand police reform. Because its bad enough for police to kill a 13 year-old that had his hands up in surrender but that is compounded when prosecutors lie about it,

As for that bullshit charge against the officer, Kim Potter in the Duante Wright shooting - yes, an error like that means she needs to be off the force.
Bear in mind: they stopped Wright legitimately - for expired registration. Then, once plugging in his info, they found a warrant: failure to appear for an armed robbery charge, wherein he assaulted a woman for $820 in her rent money and further assaulted her at gunpoint by reaching into her bra where the money was stashed. There was a further ruling against him for being in possession of a firearm, which he was not allowed to have.

The 2nd degree manslaughter statute in Minnesota: Show me where any of these Minnesota contingencies to charge 2nd degree manslaughter were met:


609.205 MANSLAUGHTER IN THE SECOND DEGREE.
A person who causes the death of another by any of the following means is guilty of manslaughter in the second degree and may be sentenced to imprisonment for not more than ten years or to payment of a fine of not more than $20,000, or both:

(1) by the person's culpable negligence whereby the person creates an unreasonable risk, and consciously takes chances of causing death or great bodily harm to another; or

(2) by shooting another with a firearm or other dangerous weapon as a result of negligently believing the other to be a deer or other animal; or

(3) by setting a spring gun, pit fall, deadfall, snare, or other like dangerous weapon or device; or

(4) by negligently or intentionally permitting any animal, known by the person to have vicious propensities or to have caused great or substantial bodily harm in the past, to run uncontrolled off the owner's premises, or negligently failing to keep it properly confined; or

(5) by committing or attempting to commit a violation of section 609.378 (neglect or endangerment of a child), and murder in the first, second, or third degree is not committed thereby.

If proven by a preponderance of the evidence, it shall be an affirmative defense to criminal liability under clause (4) that the victim provoked the animal to cause the victim's death.

That's Minnesota law.

Duante Wright created the situation, resisted arrest and tried to flee. As I said in another post, he alone created the 'fog of war' in which, with heightened alarm allowed this mistake to happen.

A longtime veteran of the police force is subject to dismissal for mistaking a gun for a taser, but if she doesn't beat this 2nd degree manslaughter charge, the criminal justice system in Minnesota will surely have failed, and it will continue to fail across the US, as more municipalities cave to the bullying of factions like BLM and Antifa, and make a mockery of their own laws.

 

I am actually surprised there aren't riots from coast to coast after the killings of two more unarmed Black men, or I should say one man and a 13 year old. Most people don't have any idea how often this happens.

According to Communities United Against Police Brutality, Chauvin was involved in at least three “lethal force incidents” during his time as a police officer, including the Floyd killing. While it’s unknown whether there were any internal disciplinary actions taken after the other two incidents — which occurred in 2005 and 2006 — no criminal charges were filed in either case and Chauvin remained on the force. Minnesota Public Radio reported that Chauvin was accused of using excessive force for restraining people by their necks or kneeling on top of them in at least six other cases.

Chauvin faced at least 17 misconduct complaints in almost 20 years with the Minneapolis Police Department.

I think you are old enough to remember what those riots did to the United States during the late 1960's. They ended the New Deal coalition, and turned the United States into a Republican country. Is that what you want? If it had not been for five years of black ghetto riots from 1964 to 1968 a Democrat dove would have been elected president in 1968 who would have negotiated an end to the War in Vietnam. Because Richard Nixon was elected president in 1968 and re elected in 1972 the War in Vietnam continued for seven more terrible wars. When class is the issue, Democrats win. When race is the issue, Republicans win. Anyone who wants the Democrats to dominate the United States, like I do, should have learned that by now. Those who have not learned it will learn it if there are four long hot hot summers of black ghetto riots between now and November 2024.

 

Ask Derek Chauvin that question now.

 

I think so. Blacks feel empowered by this. The police feel too demoralized and intimidated to do their jobs.

COLUMBUS—A Columbus police officer shot and killed a Black teenage girl on Tuesday afternoon just as a guilty verdict was being handed down in the Derek Chauvin murder case, a family member said.

The shooting victim has not been officially identified, but was named as 15-year-old Makiyah Bryant by a relative early Tuesday evening.

“She was a good kid. She was loving,” Hazel Bryant, who said the child was her niece, told reporters on the east side of Columbus. “She was 15 years old. She didn’t deserve to die like a dog in the street.”

According to Bryant, Makiyah called the police because someone in her house was abusing her. She went on to say that police saw a knife on the ground near Makiyah and shot the teenager four times.

A woman identified as Tay Jones wrote on Facebook that she had witnessed the shooting and posted video purportedly from the scene. She said the 15-year-old had a knife “because somebody tried to jump her.” The white police officer who shot her never told her to put down the knife, according to Jones.

The teen was transported to a nearby hospital, Mount Carmel East, where she succumbed to the injuries sustained in the shooting, local station NBC 4 reported. The department has reportedly contacted the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation to review the use of deadly force. The police department’s public information office did not respond to a request for comment.

The 911 call that brought police to the scene had reportedly cited an attempted stabbing.

A group of about 20 residents soon gathered in the neighborhood at the intersection of Legion Lane and Templar Street, near where police had the scene of the incident blocked off. The group was chanting “Black lives matter!” and “No justice, no peace!” and “No racist police!” Three neighbors who said they didn’t want to speak on the record told The Daily Beast police killed a 15-year-old girl.

Video from the scene shortly after the shooting showed a person lying on the ground in jeans and bright sneakers as bystanders yelled at police.

The killing occurred just as the verdict was being announced in the murder trial of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin. Chauvin was found guilty on all three counts in the death of George Floyd, an unarmed, 46-year-old Black man, in May 2020.

Local Columbus activist K.C. Taynor of Exodus Nation told The Daily Beast the latest police killing made it impossible to celebrate the Chauvin verdict.

“It’s another murder,” he said. “They’re animals. They treat us like animals.”

Crowds are growing in Columbus, Ohio Tuesday night after police shot and killed a teenager who called them for help.

Ma'Khia Bryant is the name of the unarmed girl who was in an altercation with another kid in her foster care home when she quickly rushed to call the police for help saying a woman had a knife. She hung up and rushed back outside, said her aunt.

Outside of the scene, a small group of people stood. Police tape was stretched around a home with the officers standing behind it. That was when the officers behind the tape told the group, largely people of color, "blue lives matter."

"Paula Bryant tells me her 16-year-old daughter Ma'Khia Bryant was an honor roll student and a sweet child," said reporter Lacy Crisp.
