I had heard about the Alamo my whole life so I when I was in Texas, I was taken to the Alamo and thought it was so fascinating. I am so glad I went!! I hadn't realized that there were so many Southerners who had fought there!

 

When I was a little kid, we took a family vacation that included the Alamo. I remember it being a stone mission out in the desert.
So we went to a friend's wedding, and stayed at the Emily Morgan Hotel. Didn't know the history at the time. Looking out the hotel window,
I saw lines of people, chained off area, malls and stores and restaurants all around it, and damned if it wasn't the Alamo. It was a shame.
Some very famous men were slaughtered there, and not just Southerners. All that happened within 200 miles from me, so ROAD TRIP!

I went around the house and looked for anything broken, and everything looks ok. The only thing that I saw fall was my globe. I think that means I need to take a trip! lol

I know, and I heard that a lot of Texans are now moving to Colorado to escape the California influx in Texas. lol
I plan to eventually move to the East Coast to be closer to my daughter. But as long as I am working, I am staying here.

 

Middle Tennessee is experiencing growth similar to Texas, we have seen over 100 new people a day for many years. It sure is messing up the housing market.

 

I suspect with so many companies allowing remote workers, the cost of housing is going to begin to level out all over the country.

 

Problem being, if you started out with low housing costs the process of leveling means yours is going up.

 

The outlying areas of major cities are just booming here as far as housing prices are concerned, and it causes all kinds of headaches. Not least of which is people pre-approved for a mortgage of, say for argument's sake $750k in Toronto or Ottawa or Montreal, can move to a smaller community and buy something suitable easily for $250k. So if there are multiple offers, they can double their offer and still save themselves $250k in mortgage costs, no sweat.

Except the mortgage company won't approve that purchase, necessarily, because the house they want to buy isn't worth $500k. Now all of a sudden people are having to look for alternate sources of financing, etc.

It's a headache.
