A question for dog owners that feed their dogs raw diet - do you find they don’t drink much water?

Bonita was on a raw diet when she came to me and I’ve continued it. She hardly drinks water at all, but pees just about as often as any other dog. The people I got her from said she won’t drink much, but holy cow she hardly drinks water ever. It’s so strange to me.

Do you find that to be the case with your dog?

 

Our dog eats anything slower than she is, but mainly raw meat.
She pees many times a day and has 3 water bowls that need filling at least every other day.

 

Can't help you much with that, Subby. Ours has her own doggie door and pretty much comes and goes as she pleases, but during snow storms (her ground clearance might be 6") we have to shovel a path for her and let her in and out. She seems to pee half a dozen times a day. And we know she only goes out then when she has too, cause, you know, cold.

And yeah, she empties those water bowls and they ain't little.

 

My black male cat watches me at bed time, she runs then lays on the stairs. Our ritual is I have to kneel on the stairs while we rub heads together, as I scratch her neck and pet her. Although I never do it long enough to suit her, she does follow me up to bed and gets under the covers.
Stays maybe an hour then off she goes to sleep at the foot of the bed.

 

For about 2 years as I was growing up in winter I use to have a Corgi on one side of my shins, and a Siamese cat on the other

Somebody enjoys admiring herself in the mirror.

 

Himself refers to him as "The Warden", because he goes around taking a head-count (literally!) every evening. He walks along the backs of sofas and chairs and rubs his head against each of ours. He goes from room to room looking for everyone, and if someone is standing, he’ll meow until they sit down. If someone is missing, he comes back and stares at me until I say "you’ll see her/him tomorrow"… then he goes to his bed. Of course, he sleeps on and off all day, but he only does this at night. Goofball.

We have two cats. We both grew up in dog households but we like to travel. Even if it's just a long weekend, you can't leave a dog alone that long and I'm not a fan of most pet boarding places I've seen.
We can have one of our two neighbors drop by once a day and top off the cat food and scoop the box every couple of days.
The most we've ever had at one time was Two dogs, two cats and a bird (cockatiel)
