Yesterday afternoon Howie Carr said that if Trump had a good night, we would hear in the morning that debates are staged farces that do not matter. But if Hillary had a good night, we'd be hearing in the morning that she made history.

Well, Hillary did not make history.

All Trump had to do against this vastly more experienced and skillful opponent is not choke.

And he did much better than not choke. I agree with Ted Cruz that last night's debate was easily Trump's best performance of his political career, and he will only improve.

Trump was criticized for failing to capitalize on opprtounities, such as never mentioning Hillary's "deplorable" remarks. But he largely stayed onn message and rarely went off on tangents. Besides, there are two more debates. Save the big fireworks for the finale.

Trump was also criticized for being on the defensive. But he had to be, in order to stay on message. Lester Holt went right down the list of Hillary's talking points and challenged Trump with every question. Lester didn't challenge Hillary with a single question. TPP? Nope. Trump brought it up. The emails? Trump had to bring it up. Immunity to Pagliano and Mills? Trump had to bring it up. Benghazi? No mention. Status of Forces Agreement in Iraq? Trump had to bring it up. Iran? Trump brought it up. Gun running to Syria? Lester never mentioned it. South China Sea? Nothing from Lester.

Lester and Hillary played tagteam on the guy, and he held up under fire.

But ultimately, the question of who won comes down to this single question:

Whose polls are going up today?

And under that measure-- the only one that matters, really, you can bet your booty that Trump had a VERY good night.

 

The only thing Hilary did with her "Trump doesn't pay Federal income tax" is highlight her own destroyed e Mails and that she, not Trump, has control over who pays income tax. I mean, she's been a government hack most of her adult life. If I were Trump I'd be exposing her voting record on tax increases. I mean, she's a Democrat; increasing taxes is in her DNA.
She has pretty consistently supported increased taxes for "the rich" (a moving target for her) and voted against tax cuts for "the rich" but she has also voted to increase taxes on the middle class. She also exposes herself to a discussion about the Clinton "non profit" foundation. Yes, Trump has a couple of skeletons in that closet himself, but he'd win a debate about who is the bigger robber.
If I were Trump I'd be hammering, and hammering on her influence peddling and her deplorable cracks. What got Trump this far is being anything Hilary is not.
He can win with that strategy.

 

And don't forget...there is still the question of "The October Surprise" from Wikileaks.

 

All Hillary did was mimic that disgusting puke, Dirty Harry ScReid (birds of a feather...).

Hold up are you guys trying to say that trump won the debate?

 

My college Advocacy and Argument professor would strenuously insist that Hillary won the debate.

Then again, he would also insist that Trump lost every debate in the primary season.

According to the textbook, he is not wrong.

But there is only one effective measure here, in the real world: are Trump's poll numbers going up today, or down?

And I think you know the answer to that one.

 

Simplistic?

He won the primary season, even though he lost every debate. Who told you he's the underdog? ABC or CNN?

His income taxes: It's been fact-checked. His financial records show he didn't pay federal income tax for two years. He made no money those years. He took huge losses those years. The very same documents show that he did pay federal income taxes for five other years.


The low information voters in this country won't pay attention long enough to appreciate those distinctions, so it all comes down to how many people get pulled by the nose into the polling places in November.

 

Double whammy.

Assange is promising a hammer-down.

We are ALSO promised at least 20,000 emails released by Judicial Watch. These are not hacked, or stolen, or leaked by the Russians. These are emails that James Comey and the FBI have been sitting on. Ones we've known about all along, but which no one has been able to see. Judicial Watch has fought long and hard to get them released under FOIA, and they are coming out in October.

Hillary can expect nothing but bad news for the next five solid weeks.

 

I think You might be forgetting about those who are on the fence. His poll numbers will go down. And personally I think your giving the man way to much credit. They are both reading from a script anyone can see that. But trump became visibly aggravated and Hillary did not. Also he didn't answer one question and Hillary didn't either but commentator fuck nuts called him out on it but he didn't call out Hillary. I agree they are tag teaming him. Again all part of the act. It's disgusting that the presidential arena has become a scripted reality show. Trumps been set up like a bowling pin he doesn't stand a chance with a chance machine

This is a reply to Heywood's post, too: I think that Hillary's post-convention bounce was fundamentally strong and should not have crumbled with the severity that it did. I think that the series of Judicial Watch releases through August were a major factor in Hillary's slide.

I also think she's going to keep falling. Some disagree. To which I'll simply reply, We'll See.

 

P.S., Wikileaks I'm not so sure.

The problem with Wikileaks is that it is dirty. Tainted. It is easy for people to dismiss Wikileaks, because it smacks of international activism.

Judicial Watch, however, is completely legitimate. A domestic effort, using our own laws in defense of the Constitution. Judicial Watch tends to garner sympathy, because a simple Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request should have been sufficient to trigger the release of EVERYTHING, years ago. Instead, due to stonewalling from all sides, Judicial Watch has been spending a small fortune, largely donated by concerned citizens, on several dozen contemporaneous lawsuits, to COMPEL the Obama Justice Department to do what it is required to do by law.

 

He is the BEST MAN for the job Whats the #1 problem this country faces today. I would think its our economy and financial deficit. All joking aside he is a brillant businessman. Think about it the man knows how to make money. I feel people will vote Hillary in. And if so it will be just like the last 8 years but only worse.

Donald Trump has refused to pay contractors. In a situation like this, the contractor has to sue to get his money. Many cannot afford to do that. If they hire a lawyer, you can be sure Trump will have several high powered, high priced lawyers fighting the suit. Many of these contractors were unskilled workers who were hired on a temporary basis.

In his debate with Hillary Trump admitted that he has gone several years without paying taxes. He bragged about it, and said it is "smart."

He also bragged about taking advantage of the crash in the housing market by buying foreclosed houses at low prices.

Every time one of his businesses has gone bankrupt those who invested in the business lost money, but he lost little or none of his own money.

Finally, he promises to cut taxes, raise defense spending, and pay off the national debt in eight years.

Do you trust him with the U.S. economy? I certainly do not.
