NYC McDonald’s Worker Shot in Neck During Argument over Fries Has Died

A 23-year-old Brooklyn McDonald’s employee who was shot in the neck after an argument over food has died, the New York Post reported Friday.

Matthew Webb died following the incident that occurred Monday outside the Bedford-Stuyvesant eatery, according to the New York City Police Department (NYPD).

Officials deemed the incident a homicide, and the investigation was ongoing, the Post report said:

Michael Morgan, 20, has already been charged with attempted murder and criminal possession of a loaded firearm for blasting Webb in anger at his mom getting served cold fries.

He is expected to face upgraded homicide charges, prosecutors told a court hearing Thursday, even before Webb’s death was confirmed.

Video footage showed customers inside the restaurant, and one citizen expressed her feelings about what transpired.

“With all the things we have to worry about now, they’re fighting about French fries?” she told ABC 7:

Webb was working that evening when the suspect’s mother, Lisa Fulmore, complained that her fries were cold.

She then asked to speak to the manager on duty, but the employees reportedly laughed. The woman was FaceTiming with Morgan, who showed up at the scene.

Morgan then engaged in a fight with Webb, and when the pair eventually stepped outside, according to prosecutors, the suspect allegedly hit Webb in his face, then shot him.

Multiple Democrat-controlled cities across the nation have watched violent crime rise this year over last year, according to a report from June.

Data reviewed by Fox News found rates of crimes such as homicide, rape, robbery, and assault in New York City, Los Angeles, D.C., Atlanta, Philadelphia, and Baltimore were set to outpace last year’s levels.

Democrat Mayor Eric Adams’ New York City was suffering from the highest uptick in violent crimes.

Meanwhile, the suspect’s girlfriend in the recent case was also charged with weapons possession after being accused of giving the gun to Morgan.

The woman was arraigned and held on a $50,000 cash bail once she reportedly admitted to having the firearm.

“Morgan was also charged with an earlier murder after allegedly confessing during questioning about the McDonald’s shooting,” the Post report said, adding that last year, he allegedly killed a man whose name was Kevin Holloman.

More than 100 Republicans have signed a letter asking Attorney General Merrick Garland to instruct the Department of Justice to investigate this group in relation to attacks on pro-life pregnancy centers across the country as domestic terrorists.

Over 1,000 New York City police officers have filed to leave the department in 2022, raising doubts about the city's ability to maintain a substantive police force and maintain safety and security.

Former NYPD detective Jason Caputo and Blue Lives Matter NYC founder Joe Imperatrice weighed in on the law enforcement exodus on "Fox & Friends First" Monday, arguing that incentives for working with The Big Apple's police force no longer exist.

"You're losing qualified [people], you're losing experience, you're losing so much when it comes to that kind of stuff," Caputo told guest host Ashley Strohmier.

The former detective's comments come a month after he left his 18-year service and as others partaking in the exodus leave before receiving full pensions.

Caputo claimed the city is "steering away" from encouraging officers to apprehend criminals, adding that city and NYPD leaders are "putting victims and police in jeopardy."

Strohmier shifted the discussion to New York City's "diaphragm law," which prohibits officers from placing suspects in choke holds or exerting pressure on a suspect's diaphragm and pointed to a recent example of MMA fighter Ro Malabanan, who helped take down a criminal suspect by securing him against the ground.

"The progressive city council would have went after an officer [if they had done the same move], they would have went after their job," Imperatrice said. "Any type of fight – especially martial arts – you end up on the ground, and that's what it's all about; you're trying to subdue the individual. That MMA fighter did nothing wrong, but he had to use his body weight to subdue them until officers arrived…"

Imperatrice and Caputo both claimed officers are risking "everything" to do their jobs amid a hostile environment toward law enforcement.

Caputo followed up on the topic, answering Strohmier's question about incentives for joining the NYPD by saying there are "none," and adding, "I wouldn't really encourage that many people to take this job anymore."

Police on Friday arrested an Ohio man who they say mailed dozens of letters laced with poop to various Republican politicians, Cleveland.com reported.

Among the politicians was Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio.

Richard John Steinle, 77, received a misdemeanor charge for mailing potentially hazardous material, which carries a punishment of up to a year in prison along with a $100,000 fine.

Between August 2021 and July 2022, Steinle wrote letters to all 25 Republican members of the Ohio Senate and Jordan. In the letters, he called the lawmakers names like "pig" and called them racist, according to Cleveland.com.

Each of the letters contained or had been streaked with feces.

He had also sent lawmakers in Kentucky and Washington, DC, the same letters.

In July, Postal workers came upon three more letters addressed to Ohio politicians at the collection box, Cleveland.com reported. Then, federal investigators decided to stake out Steinle's house and follow him down to the post office five days later.

Investigators witnessed Steinle put on a glove and drop off a letter into the mail collection box. When investigators retrieved the letter, they opened it and found it smeared with what looked like poop. The envelope also contained a $1 bill and a greeting card.

Then investigators found similar letters sent to other government offices in parts of the country, including California.

Cracker Barrel latest Portland casualty for stores shuttering amid crime wave
'There's a lot of theft,' one local man says

A Portland Cracker Barrel abruptly shut down this week, with employees reporting that the closure is due to security issues in the area.

"There's a lot of theft," local man Steve Goodwin told KGW when news of the closure spread in town. "People on drugs."

Cracker Barrel confirmed to Fox News Digital on Wednesday that its location at the Jantzen Beach mall shuttered, explaining the company made the decision after evaluating "the performance" of the store.

"As a standard course of business, we continually evaluate the performance of our stores, using various criteria to ensure we are meeting the needs of our guests and our business. With that, we have made the difficult decision to close our Jantzen Beach, Oregon Cracker Barrel location," a representative told Fox News Digital.

The statement did not say which criteria was used to evaluate the store, and noted the chain is now focused on "assisting our employees during this transition."

Employees, however, were able to shed more light on the closure. They explained to KGW that they were called to an emergency meeting held by management on Monday and told the closure was due to security issues, KGW reported.

The area of Portland is littered with drug paraphernalia, clothes tags on the streets, and abandoned shopping carts, according to the local outlet.

The closure came as a shock to diners who tried to visit the location on Tuesday, and other locals who thought non-violent crimes would not impact businesses.

"I would think a retail restaurant wouldn't be impacted that much by the crime and drug problems and that sort of thing," neighbor Ron Schmidt told KGW.

Portland has been struggling with rampant crime in recent years.

Researchers for the California Partnership for Safe Communities compiled crime data from Portland earlier this year, specifically examining homicides and non-fatal shootings from 2019 to 2021. The data found that there was a 144% increase in homicides from January 2019 to June 2021 while non-fatal shootings increase by 241% from January 2019 to December 2021.

The violent crimes began ticking up in 2019, with 36 homicides that year compared to 26 in 2018. The city had held a 20-year average of 28 homicides per year, with 2004 as the outlier at 29 homicides.

That average was soon obliterated when the data showed 2020 notched a 58% increase in homicides compared to the year prior, at 57 deaths, and 2021 recorded a 54% increase, at 88 homicides. The number of homicides in 2021 was a 238% increase from numbers recorded in 2018.

Crime issues have prompted other businesses in the city to close or move to safer areas with more foot traffic.

"Being downtown was a big part of the identity of the store," Jason Leivian, owner of Floating World Comics, told KPTV this week when explaining he moved the store from downtown Portland to a shopping mall in the city.
Leivian said that he's watched crime tick up in downtown Portland since 2020, and noted that foot traffic has also dwindled, motivating him to make the move.


"I don’t think it’s coming back anytime soon, maybe in a couple of years or so," Leivian said. "But who knows? I waited two years and this is where we’re at now."

Crime has also directly impacted some business owners in the city. The owner of restaurant Hello India described how thieves broke into her establishment earlier this summer and stole everything from electronics, cash, and alcohol to serving trays. The crime has left her struggling after already coping with setbacks from the coronavirus.

"Coming back from COVID was very, very difficult. On top of that, this kind of activities" will mean restaurants will have to "shut the door" or have a solid backup support plan to survive, Mehar Ali told KATU earlier this month. She said she will continue operating the restaurant, but called on locals to "help me out" and continue ordering food.

In addition to local stores coping with the fallout of crime, coffee chain behemoth Starbucks announced last month that two locations in Portland would shutter due concerns for the safety of workers and customers.

It seems that a local reporter, Jeff German, had started one of those "investigative" series that claimed a county administrator, Robert Telles, who was in charge of whatever part the county would play in dealing with the estates of dead people in Las Vegas was perhaps creating a hostile work environment and, in the process, perhaps diddling with a coworker.
There was even video.

Well, the reporter was found stabbed to death outside of his house, a neighbors security camera caught the probable culprit and recorded him, and a DNA test of skin taken from under the victim's fingernails pointed the finger squarely at said administrator, Robert Telles.
Telles has been arrested and charged with German's murder.

So what makes this a more interesting story than the usual run of the mill homicide is that Telles, a Democrat, blamed the "hack piece" published by German for Telles losing his office in a primary election.
That would be called motive.
And also that for once a gun wasn't the murder weapon, rather a good old basic knife.

Man Admits to Killing Teen He Claimed Was ‘Republican Extremist’

MCHENRY, N.D. (Valley News Live) - A community is mourning the loss of an 18-year-old man from Grace City, North Dakota, as investigators look into what led up to a deadly crash. Foster County Deputies were called to a hit-and-run that happened in an alleyway near Johnston Street and Jones Avenue in McHenry, ND.

Court documents say at 2:35 Sunday morning, 41-year-old Shannon Brandt called 911 to report that he had hit a pedestrian because he was threatening him. Brandt told State Radio that the pedestrian was part of a Republican extremist group and that he was afraid they were “coming to get him.” The pedestrian has been identified in a GoFundMe page as 18-year-old Cayler Ellingson.

After visiting the scene where the incident happened, deputies went to Brandt’s house in Glenfield, ND, which is about 12 minutes from the crash scene. Brandt admitted to consuming alcohol before the incident, and stated he hit Ellingson with his car because he had a political argument with him. Brandt also admitted to deputies that he initially left the crash scene, then returned to call 911, but left again before deputies could arrive.

Court documents say just before the crash, Ellingson called his mom and asked if they knew who Brandt was. She said yes, and told her son she was on her way to pick him up. A short time later, court documents say Ellingson called his mom again to say that “he” or “they” were chasing him. It was after the second call that Ellingson could not be reached again.

Ellingson was pronounced dead at a Carrington Hospital. Brandt has been charged with criminal vehicular homicide and DUI.

 

70% of CA County Arrestees Released under Zero Bail Policy Rearrested

In this episode of “Did they really need a study to figure this out?” a California county District Attorney realizes that zero cash bail policy invites more crime. In fact, of those released via the policy, 70% went on to commit additional crimes, resulting in rearrests. Not only did they commit additional crimes, but many were violent in nature.

Study Shows that the Zero Cash Bail Policy Doesn’t Work
In a not-so-surprising twist, the “equitable” $0 bail policy experiment turns out to be a failure. Shocking, I know. A study out of Yolo County, California, finds that letting criminals go under their own recognizance invites more crime. Specifically, 70% of those released went on to re-offend.

According to Fox News, “Of the 595 individuals released on $0 bail between 2020 and 2021 in Yolo County, 420 — or 70.6% — were rearrested for new crimes, and 123 — or 20% — were arrested for a violent crime such as murder, attempted murder, kidnapping, robbery, carjacking or domestic violence, according to Reisig’s office.”

The California Judicial Council adopted the policy in April 2020, at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. The idea was that it would reduce the jail population and prevent further spread throughout the jail system. As a result, those with misdemeanor and lower-level felony charges could go free while awaiting trial.

Although the California Judicial Council rescinded the order in June 2020, some counties, like Yolo, kept it in place. In fact, Yolo County extended it for an entire year and learned an important lesson.

The Sacramento Bee writes, “’When over 70% of the people released under mandated $0 bail policies go on to commit additional crimes, including violent offenses such as robbery and murder, there is simply no rational public safety-related basis to continue such a practice post-pandemic, especially in light of the increasing violent crime rates across California,’ Reisig said in a statement.”


A Lesson Learned on a Broader Scale
As it turns out, two other California counties continued the policy even longer than Yolo County. Both Los Angeles and San Diego counties continued the policy halfway through 2022. However, they realized that it might work as planned.

San Diego County was the first to rescind the policy.

CBS8 San Diego reported back in May 2022, “A policy that reduced certain misdemeanor offenses to zero bail throughout the San Diego County jail system, which was instituted to reduce the overall jail population during the COVID-19 pandemic, will be rescinded as of Sunday, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said Friday.”

Suffering a related problem to Yolo County, Los Angeles County allowed its policy to expire on July 1, 2022. According to the Los Angeles Police Department as of June 25, 2022, there were 649 zero bail policy re-arrests. Those are 649 incidents that law enforcement should have been dealing with other cases.


In a release from the LAPD, the department states, “The pandemic pushed Los Angeles County to instate a “zero bail” policy which issued a modified bail schedule providing “zero bails” for individuals accused of low-level offenses, infractions, misdemeanors, and some felony offenses as a way to reduce the spread of COVID-19 infections in pre-trial incarcerations and to reduce the local jail population. This zero-bail policy expired on July 1, 2022.”

The True Nature of Zero Cash Bail Policies
I would love to believe that this really was about the pandemic and things will return to normal. But that’s a bit hard, given the blatant evidence to the contrary. During this same time, BLM and Antifa were burning and looting our cities with complete disregard to social distancing and lockdowns. The same people pushing zero bail policies due to COVID celebrated these riots.

To understand what this is really about, let’s hear it in their own words.

The CBS8 story goes on to read, “’The bail system, in general, is very classist and impacts people of color more heavily,’ said Yusef Miller with the North County Equity and Justice Coalition. He believes the cash bail system as a whole is rigged against poor people who cannot afford to bail out while favoring those who can.”


In fact, this goes back to before the pandemic. Before she was Vice President, Kamala Harris penned an op-ed with Senator Rand Paul (R-Ky) for the New York Times. The 2017-piece reads:

“Excessive bail disproportionately harms people from low-income communities and communities of color. Bail is supposed to ensure that the accused appear at trial and don’t commit other offenses in the meantime.”

Unfortunately, this is not going away, they are just going to keep pushing it. According to CBS8, a recent California Supreme Court ruling holds that courts must consider an individual’s ability or inability to pay bail when considering a bail order remains in place.

It’s hard to believe that anyone considers criminals trustworthy enough to come back for trial. But this is where we are now. Our criminal justice system is defective, favoring criminals over law-abiding citizens.

A volunteer for Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) was brutally attacked while canvassing for the campaign in Hialeah, Florida, leaving him with a broken jaw and internal bleeding.

According to the senator, who is facing off against Democrat Rep. Val Demings (D-FL) in roughly two weeks, four individuals attacked the canvasser, allegedly telling him that Republicans were not allowed in their neighborhood. The man, who will also require facial reconstruction surgery, was wearing a shirt supporting Rubio and hat supporting Gov. Ron DeSantis (R).

The attack comes several weeks after President Biden identified MAGA Republicans as a major “threat to the country.”

“Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic,” Biden said, adding that there is “no question that the Republican Party today is dominated, driven, and intimidated by Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans, and that is a threat to this country.”

Rubio said alleged victim will need reconstructive surgery
Police have made one arrest after a canvasser supporting the re-election campaign of Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., was beaten down on the street in Hialeah, Florida.

Rubio tweeted Monday that the canvasser was attacked Sunday night by four people who supposedly told him Republicans were not allowed in their area.

"Last night one of our canvassers wearing my T-shirt and a [Florida Gov. Ron] Desantis [sic] hat was brutally attacked by 4 animals who told him Republicans weren’t allowed in their neighborhood in #Hialeah #Florida," Rubio posted.
