When you claim to speak nothing but the truth, it's quite something to give relevant facts to another's situation. It's quite another to say "I do the Correct Thing, and you all are doing the Stupid Thing. I'm just speaking the truth." You used to post your stories on sexstories, but to my knowledge they're pulled because of the downvoting etc. It's understandable, but it's also defeatist. Pointing and laughing at other authors for... still trying to post their stories and getting upset that the system is being used against them... doesn't help. It just makes you come across as smug and a jerk. You used to be a voice of reason here, but now, I think more people get annoyed with your voice than anything.

People like NCFan may have opinions dissimilar to yours or mine, but they're a prolific writer, and it's unfair that their stories are being unfairly maligned. I personally think my stories deserve a better entrance than five near-immediate downvotes in a smaller timeframe than what it would take to even read my story. I think that's a valid concern. We may be "howling at the moon," but this is the hour of the wolf. This is a forum for sexstories. Are we not allowed to complain about its downsides and try to rack our brains about anything we can do to solve it?

If you want us to sit down and shut up unless our opinions and methods are the same as yours, that's really a you problem. NCFan said it best - Saying nothing will ensure nothing is done. I'm not going to claim that I only speak the truth, but I suspect a lot of the people in this forum agree with me, and are tired of you condescendingly laughing at others for having valid concerns with this site. If you keep saying you are going to leave this site behind, and what you're showing is what it'll look like if you stay, there's the door.

Fact #1 - multiple attempts have been made to the "powers that be" about this site's ongoing issues. Some, who shall remain nameless, have even had DIRECT communication with Admin about said issues. Guess what? Nothing has changed.

Fact #2 - I have stopped writing, for a multitude of reasons, but onebecause of the same issue MULTIPLE authors are and have experienced.

Fact #3 - I've enjoyed this site from the moment I joined way back when and continue to read many stories on a weekly basis. Which have included yours and others.

Fact #4 - I can't help but point out the truth and if it comes across condescending then too bad. Add sugar to the comment so it will go down sweeter. It's still the truth.

It's a shame we as writers can do so little. I've certainly had my fair share of direct communication with Admin, hence this forum even existing, but communication with them of late (since around 2021 for me) has become noticeably difficult. I have noticed that new writers have their stories posted to their profiles so I'm considering biting the bullet and just making a new profile.

I noticed when I published my latest stories (Teacher's Pet Ch14) that it doesn't show up in my publication list? It is published on the site but I have to manually search for it. Anyone else have this issue, and anything I can do to fix this?

Just wondering, what's a better way of telling a story or should I say the most appealing? Telling a story from a first person point of view, a third person narrative, a multiple perspective so you can see how each character reacts and feels to the situation or scenario, or is it best to blend it all together in one story.

 

I generally use first person or 3rd person omniscient.I think most of mine are first person.

sometimes I’ll change just to do something different.

 

I was away a few days on vacation. Just checking now and of my 5 recent stories, 2 are hanging in there just over 80%, on is 56% and the others are 60-70.

Fuck it. Deleted them. I'd rather no one reads them and I'd rather not write than have no one read them. I've very close to deleting all my stories off of sexstories. It's garbage now.

 

If I'm not participating, why leave bits and pieces around. I may move on. I may post in the forums. I don't know yet.

I don't think it's all that dramatic. After all, who cares? Those who have read them, won't go back, those who haven't, won't know the difference. If they have any "value" why leave them for a site whose management has abandoned us?

 

First, cutting gf your nose is a cliche. Having said that, it’s like the little boy who didn’t get picked first to play baseball, so he grabbed his ball and went home crying.

There are few sites with voting, even fewer that will clean up bad and down votes because the author requested it. I know of none that will allow an author to dictate how her/his scores are allowed to be given.

It’s part and parcel of writing - and it isn’t restricted to erotica. Sure you write; so do I. But if I took my stories down simply because not everyone thought I was all that and a bag of chips, I’d never write. You’re a good writer, I will say that. I don’t agree with your dialogue formatting, but that’s my opinion. It doesn’t mean I’ll down vote your stories.

But I will say this: get off your high horse. You are FAR from a great writer. If you want to whine about votes, by all means, go for it. But there are plenty of writers WAY WAY better than you.

So, you’re butt hurt - too bad. Grow a pair and grow up. Not everyone likes criticism, apparently you’re too sensitive to it.

 

What is the best word count for a story. And is it different if it is a chapter story with 20+ chapters? So best word count per chapter.

 

Hello, I just started posting stories and want to say hello. I've fooled around a bit writing, but this is the first time I wrote with the intention of having other people read it. I will look for stories from the people who post in this thread and check them out, I assume because you're here you take writing seriously. Advice and comments are always appreciated.

 

I know those of us who post stories have been frustrated with the stories-site at times. Does anyone know how xnxx makes money? They don't charge anything to visit the site, or have annoying pop-ups and constant advertisements like most sites.
I assume a benevolent, well to-do owner/sponsor? I only know of a couple of Admins and I'm sure they are flooded with requests and complaints. They need more web admins and web developers, but how do they pay them without selling out and wrecking the site with paid spam?

I was wondering the same. From past comments and threads, it seems the management takes off from time to time. If it's just a few people involved then I can imagine they get easily overwhelmed. They DO need better web development. So the question is: are we willing to "pay" for a better site? Or live/manage with what we have here?

 

** I totally agree! A mistake in grammar or spelling every now and then is understandable, although a story should really be proofread several times before publishing. An obvious mistake can throw the whole story off for me. That being said, I am about to write my first story and I sure hope I don't make any mistakes. I am looking forward to getting feedback. Hey how's it going?

I published the fourth part of my story a few months ago and I just noticed that it doesn't appear on my "texts" page. I can still access it on my author page, and it looks like it's still accruing a few reads, so I don't think it was removed. I thought it might be a bug, so I was wondering if you guys knew about a fix for it.

If this question has already been answered previously then sorry about posting this. I would have looked at some prior posts but unfortunately I don't know how to read.

I'm glad we have this thread to discuss our writing and try to improve it. I'm just about finished with my 5th story, it will probably post tomorrow. Like Jeff I find most of the readers are looking for 'smut', and incest is popular. I've tried a couple of different styles and so far the verdict has been 'meh'. Maybe it's because I don't write about breasts that are big enough to clog a toilet or dicks that rival horses. So I'm trying a different style again, first person, slightly based on real events. A different kink and a bit of incest too.
At first it was depressing, seeing poorly written stories getting great reviews, but after reading enough of the comments I realized that there are some people that I don't want to write for and I'll be happy with the likes I get.
It's late, sorry for that bit of belly-aching there. I look forward to reading your works, and you can call me Don.

So reading back over some of the more recent discussions, I guess I am not alone in finding my first chapters of my story downvoted by what I believe are non-legitimate votes. I find it hard to believe that the first 50 reads of my story received 10 negative votes almost immediately. Only to be followed by more legitimate votes that have brought the average back up over 60% and climbing. Hard to understand why there are always people out there that would waste time trying to tear down instead of building up. What do they get out of it?

I would love to get some real feedback to my story as I continue to put out chapters. They are all written and I am just polishing them now and posting every couple of days as I finish. But some actual feedback might help me as I try to finish the chapters. Any criticism/suggestions would be welcome. I don't get offended.

Also and interesting observation that I am curious if others have encountered. Currently, there are 4 chapters posted. Chapters 1,2 and 4 all have twice or more reads as Chapter 3. Why would anyone read Chapter 4 without reading Chapter 3? I find that surprising. Any idea why?
