I feel

The song originally appeared as "Sittin' at a Bar" on the band's second album Southern Discomfort in 2000, released by Epic Records. The band were subsequently dropped by Epic in 2002, but the song became an underground hit on the internet and on jukeboxes.

So in may have been written in the 90s, or not.

 

Seether are a South African rock band founded in 1999 in Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa.The band originally performed under the name Saron Gas until 2002, when they moved to the United States and changed it to Seether to avoid confusion with the deadly chemical known as sarin gas.

Looking for something good about 90's music, I suddenly remembered this: Released in 1991 - the whole album was great, and everybody knows 'Walking in Memphis', but I particularly loved this fond remembrance of his father ("the man with the plan and the pocket comb") - and his car.
