I don't understand erecting monuments to leaders of armies warring on the US. Where are all the statues of King George III? Adolf Hitler? Hirohito? Pancho Villa?

Thanks for posting these and they need to be posted every time the discussion of things like monuments to traitors come up. I have no idea why people in the North went along with the South trying to rewrite the history of the Civil War. I guess it was because they were nice people who knew the South felt guilty about the Civil War and took compassion on them more or less saying Hey its their story let them tell it anyway they want.

But as we see today that was was huge and dangerous mistake. It helped to institutionalize racism created some romantic notion of a just cause rebellion and makes people advocate for civil war again.

I used to have these constitutions and declarations bookmarked even on my phone because I would encounter people and especially Southern people who would push the lie the Civil War was about state's rights not slavery. And when you show them these constitutions and declarations there's no way they can deny it. they can however never speak to you again like one of my Tennessee shirt tail relatives. Which is fine with me because I don't have to put up with her Lost Cause lies

And isn't it wonderful that no state in America today has a constitution or law that provides for slavery or, for that matter, racism?
It would seem the rest of America is moving on and becoming more civilized. Sadly, the despicables who use the racism card like a free pass at every opportunity seem to be stuck in the past.

@shootersa..,. nice to see you back again from yet another suspension. You really need to think before you post (I admit to the same urges).
If only you were right about the rest of America moving on from the Confederate Battle Flag and all it represents. Just ask Rocky Balboa. He just posted that it is his emblem of honor, or something to that effect. How can you not see that racism is very much with us in this country and around the world?

@shootersa you do honestly make me laugh. You act like that must be some form ;of great enlightenment and progress. When actually its because of the 14th Amendment to the United States Constitution which outlawed them. Also ignoring the fact in many states those are just words on paper they have no intention of trying to live up to even to this day.

The Nancy Antoinette star chamber proceeding is a political attack job aimed at once and for all to get Trump no matter what it takes. The riots of January 6 have already been addressed and the miscreants responsible for that horror show, almost 800 people, have been indicted, tried, and/or sentenced. Very few have been allowed to plea down or been found not guilty.
In contrast to the indictments, trials and/or sentencing for the miscreants responsible for over a year of rioting in American cities.

The real show will start once the star chamber issues its report. It will trigger despicables and deplorables alike to dissect literally every word but very little will come of that because the complete testimony and documents that purport to justify whatever the report says will remain sealed and confidential. In the end it will be little more than a wrong story article filled with "a source familiar with the situation" sources.

And the other thing will be Liz Cheney chucked under the bus by ungrateful despicables.

    1. toniter
Of the 900 arrested for 1/6 rioting, about 400 have pleaded guilty, and many others have gone to trial but not all. On trial now are the really bad guys, the Oath Keepers, so we'll see what happens. Their charges are very hard to convict, so I've gathered.

Those rioting in other cities weren't trying to halt our government from functioning. Kind of like comparing an expired inspection sticker on your car to drunk driving, I'd say.

It will be up to the DOJ to bring charges after the 1/6 committee presents collected evidence. The testimonies and docs justifing the report may be remained sealed from the public, as you say, but the DOJ will receive everything to act on (or not act on).

At the expense of some people glorifying these statues? Don't forget, most of these monuments were constructed well after the civil war, and the reasons for erecting them was lost in time. The racist part of slavery got lost in the years to those people.

And when they're rebuilt, a plaque needs to be attached noting that funding for this monument was courtesy of the "we hate America" foundation, or whoever it is that gets the tab.

And this is the oath Robert E Lee swore to when he was a US Aymer officer.

I, , do solemnly swear or affirm (as the case may be) to
bear true allegiance to the United States of America, and to serve them
honestly and faithfully, against all their enemies or opposers whatsoever, and
to observe and obey the orders of the President of the United States of
America and the orders of the officers appointed over me

There is no question Robert E Lee betrayed that oath. And anyone who takes up arms against the United States of America are traitors to it.

Yes @Raykidd there is no doubt Trump is as traitor because he staged an armed insurrection and the first attempted coup in American history. For the first time in more than 230 years he refused to accept the results of a free and fair election and a peaceful transfer of power. Those are documented facts.

But if you say other presidents are Traitors lets see your specific examples. In other words put up or shut up.

      Your move.

Did you see the riots in Portland? They tried to occupy the Federal justice center and injured many of the Federal security officers. They were using industrial lasers trying to blind them and tried to set fire to the building knowing security officers were inside. They literally shut down the Federal Justice center for several months.
And to date while 74 people were charged, 90% of the charges were dropped.
    Not reduced, dropped.
Shooter sees more than 8 people, or for that matter, 74 people involved in those riots.

Did you see Seattle? They took over 4 square blocks of downtown Seattle including a police station and held it for weeks.

Not trying to halt the government from functioning? Bullshit.

And as far as trusting the January 6 committee to hand over everything to the DOJ, and trusting the DOJ to act on all of it? Sorry. Shooter won't trust them to do "what's right" until he sees all of it. We learned that lesson with the Trump Russian thingy.

But they were not trying to overthrow a free and fair election, stage an armed insurrection and the first attempted coup in American history to install Trump as dictator for life. You keep trying to draw some kind of false equivalent about the social justice protests or even riots to the Big Lie and J6 when there is none.

That is just more false propaganda on your part.

On January 6 there was a riot at the US capital, an attempt to halt the certification of the 2020 election.
    It failed.
It was not an attempt to overthrow the government or install Trump as dictator for life.
The despicables would like to sell the idea that this was a revolution and have even called up the Nancy Antoinette star chamber to sell further the idea that Trump was leading a coup.

It has never been explained what the rioters plan was beyond raising hell in the capital. They did not have firepower to even hold the capital, take hostages, make demands or "march arm in arm with Trump to the white house to take the throne and install him as dictator for life".

It is highky amusing to see you contradict your whole argument in your first sentence. Yes that was the purpose of the armed insurrection and attempted coup. Stop the Constitutional certification of Joe Biden as president. Force VP Pence to accept a slate pf fake electors. And instead of President Biden being rightfully certified as president, all ow Trump to usurp the results of a free and fair election the Constitution and the US gove3rnment. So he could be illegally named president where he would be free to become dictator for life.

So your attempts at false propaganda doublespeak is just laughable.

First @shootersa ignores the fact many of the insurrectionists were armed with guns. And ignores many of the insurrectionists brought many things to use as weapons including their flag polls. Second, @shootersa ignores that Trump told the Secret Service to take down the metal detectors and let his domestic terrorists into his rally carrying guns because they were not there to hurt hm.Third @shootersa ignores Trump told his armed insurrectionists to storm the Capitol. And finally @shootersa ignores the fact Trump fully intended to march on the Capitol with his insurrectionists but was stopped by the Secret Service even though Trump tried to commander the car and fought with his Secret Service agents demanding they take him to the Capitol.

That is too much ignoring to be anything but willful blindness to the actual facts so he can continue to push his false propaganda treasonous conservative/America Hating/Republican talking points of the day.

I need to admit for most my life I had no problem with the Confederate Flag. But then it finally dawned on me that was all part of the Southern public relations scam. That flag does not represent some romantic Lost Cause. It represents racism and treason. Its really no different than a Nazi flag. And needs to be treated as such.

Decertifying the election is only the first step in enthroning Trump, if we are to believe the despicable conspiracy theory. First, both Congress and the Senate would need to refuse to certify the vote. As has been pointed out several times before on this forum, despicables have attempted that very thing 3 times before in recent history. Its all been for show. Nothing more.
Since 2001, Democrats Objected 3 Times to Electoral College Certification (dailysignal.com)

But if the certification fails then the speaker of the house becomes president. There is no process for congress to accept "alternative electors". Either congress certifies the vote or they don't. And if they don't the speaker of the house becomes president. That would have been Nancy Antoinette in this case. Not Trump. Not Pence. Not anyone loyal to Trump. Nancy Antoinette.

Think Trump knew that? Of course he did. But lets go with the conspiracy. What then? A new election? The law says the speaker of the house is president until a new election is held, but there is no process or deadline for that to happen. So, theoretically that would make Nancy president until 2024. You know, unless she decided to try for a new election sooner. If so, there isn't a process for that. Congress would have to write it. In this case, a despicable controlled congress.
Pelosi Would Become President If Election Results Are Not Certified, Says Law Professor - CBS San Francisco (cbsnews.com)

The endless braying of despicables is that the whole point of the riots at the capital was to enthrone Trump as president for life. Getting Pence, and Congress, to not certify the election results would not get it done. It would only put Nancy on the throne. And in control of what happened next. Like nominating a vice president. Who would take Nancy's place if she couldn't serve.
    Think that would be Trump?

But perhaps Trump's plan was to take the throne by blunt force. You know, a coup. If that were indeed the plan Trump would have needed a lot of force backing him up. You know, troops loyal to him, and lots of guns and stuff. The mob that rioted in the capital, whatever they thought they were doing, wasn't going to fill the bill. Some of them had guns, to be sure. And some of them had (gasp!) flag poles! And there were pipe bombs in DC! Enough power to take and hold the white house, or the capital?
    Funny.
And there has been no evidence, in fact evidence to the contrary, that the military would back a Trump coup.

Did Trump order his supporters to storm the capital? Well, we're still waiting for the decoder ring to be exposed so we know what it is, exactly, that Trump said that his supporters heard as "Storm the capital, take hostages, and I'll be president for life".

Did Trump grab the steering wheel to force his way to the capital so he could lead his supporters in their coup? One witness says he did, but she wasn't there, and the people she claims told her that have flatly denied it. Reminds Shooter of the Kavanaugh thingy. Only in this case, the only testimony we've been allowed to hear is the testimony of the witness who says she heard that someone said Trump tried to hijack his own limousine. We haven't been allowed to hear the testimony of the driver or the secret service agents who were present, or even that they will be testifying. Ever. And if they do, Shooter bets their testimony would be sealed by the Nancy Antoinette star chamber folks, cause it would not support the one witnesses testimony. It would contradict it.

I think you may have the procedure somewhat incorrect. If the Senate failed to certify the electoral voting, the matter of electing a president would be sent to the House. Each state, no matter of population size or previous popular vote, would cast one vote. Trump's insiders hatched this plan with the idea that he would receive more votes than Biden and then become president.
All the rest of your rant is irrelevant.

And at no time did anyone think about hosting an insurrection party on January 6th. Republicans on the other hand, appear to have made very specific plans. They didn't need to hold the Capitol if they could get them to change the vote. Trump would be their victor and president for life. Get those alternate elections saddled up, they ride at dawn!

Did you read the sources Shooter provided? Have you done any research on your own? Will you show us where it says Congress can do anything but certify, or refuse to certify, the electoral college results of a presidential election?
And if they do fail to certify the election, how does that provide a path for Trump to become president for life? Because the only thing that happens if the election isn't certified is that, in this case, Nancy Antoinette becomes president. There is no process for Congress to offer up alternative electoral college votes. None.

So @shootersa, not long ago, you stood firm by your belief that all media, other than government and STEM sources, were biased and full of misleading propaganda. It seems you use sources to suit your purpose.

If the Senate could not certify the electoral votes, the matter would be sent to the House. Each state would cast one vote and Trump's cronies banked on him receiving a majority of the individual states votes to remain president. The Speaker would only become president if the House was unable to elect a president with this one state-one vote procedure.

Why yes, I did. And at no point in the myth did they mention any insurrections, and we will know for certain that there is only one insurrection associated with January 6th.
More diversion. Call the other person's knowledge into question. Pointless tactic.
And you completely missed the point of the alternate electors. Not my problem you choose to ignore those things.

    Alternate electors?
So show us where and how alternate electors fit into this.
The ONLY course available to Pence and Congress on January 6th was to either certify the election or not certify the election.
There is no process that allows "alternate electors" or a process that allows Congress to consider them in certifying the election.
On January 6th the only option was to certify the election, or not certify the election.
If they certify, Biden is president. That's what in fact happened.
Or, they could not certify, and Nancy Antoinette becomes president.
You can divert all you want. The law isn't so easy to divert, is it?

It's taking me a while to catch up. You guys have had nothing better to do today? Lol...
Again, if the Senate had not certified the electoral voting, (Trump was hoping Pence would try something he obviously had no power doing), the House would vote one state-one vote to elect a president. Trump thought he had a good chance of gathering a majority of the states, eventhough he lost the popular vote and the electoral college vote.

But meanwhile if the electoral college vote wasn't certified, Pelosi would have been President.

Whatever else happened after that, Pelosi would be president.
    Understand?

The Senate was to certify on January 6. If they had failed to certify, the House would take a vote. If the House failed to vote for a president, if neither candidate received 26 or more votes, by January 20, inauguation day, then the Speaker would take over during the vacancy. The Speaker would not become president unless and until the House failed to elect a president between 1/6 and 1/20.
