During the four years Trump was in office the national debt as a percentage of gross domestic product (GDP) rose from 104% in 2017 to 129% in 2020. After two years of Biden this has declined to 123%.

During President Carter's last year in office, in 1980, the national debt as a percentage of GDP was 32%. It grew because of Republican tax cuts for the rich.

Incomes for at least half the population stagnated or declined since Carter left office.

Just take note the double standard moderation on this forum remains on clear display. And there are a lot of members here that can't testify about their posts that were removed and they were warned suspended or banned for name calling and personal attacks. Dr. Zimbardo's prison study. The rally around the flag effect. You see this in every U.S. election. Take a look at raceism, this started with the curse of Ham, a lie told so long ago. Naw, not really. Except here in America, we like to do the old "Hitler Shuffle" every now and then. We "graciously gave shelter" to a bunch of wayward Nazi rocket scientists, who then created NASA for us.

While Republicans like to claim the Democrats are Nazis, there are actual Nazis that have run for office as Republicans. Conservatives love to play the false equivalency game, saying that because the word Nazi includes "socialism/socialist", therefore Democrats are bad because they like socialism. They don't like to acknowledge that Hitler persecuted socialists.

Here in America, we take Godwin's Law very seriously!

 

Part of the problem is the "Greatest Generation" is dying out and there just aren't many WW2 veterans left. I grew up around a lot of old men who served in WW2 and the men who fought in Europe hated Nazis. There was no room for discussion. I can only imagine what Dwight Eisenhower or Bob Dole would have said about the Charlottesville tiki torch parade.

With those guys gone, neo-Nazis are allowed to operate in the daylight. When they want an inroad to the American political system, the Democratic Party is pretty much closed off to them. Too many people of the less than white skin variety, not to mention the J-word.

The Republican party is a different story. As their numbers decline, they have to accept any group that can deliver votes. If this means letting racism, xenophobia and anti-Semitism become part of the GOP message that's just the way it has to be. A few individual Republicans aren't happy about, but they have to keep their thoughts to themselves, lest they be branded a RINO.

It's a pragmatic strategy, but one that comes with a host of problems. Once you let a Nazi in the tent, he's going to expect to be treated with respect. When he tells stories about 12 year old George Soros working for Reinhard Heydrich, everyone must keep their mouth shut and act as if it's perfectly plausible. That's what happens when all the WW2 vets are gone.

 

Well, those of us fortunate enough to have actually talked to one of "the greatest generation" and take their stories to heart understand how evil the Nazis were.
Those of us fortunate enough to have visited the holocaust museum or study the Nazi attempt at genocide understand how evil the Nazis were.
Those of us fortunate enough to study WWII in the pacific understand how evil absolute power without limitation is.
Those of us who were fortunate enough to study the war between Russia and Germany understand how revenge can result in greater injustice and horror than the original sin.

And we know only ignorant butt hurt despicables will demonize their rivals by accusing them of being Nazi sympathizers.
