Trump launches vicious new attack on Ron DeSantis

Former President Donald Trump shared a post on his Truth Social platform that insinuated, without evidence, that Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) groomed underage girls while he was a high school teacher, the Daily Mail reported on Tuesday.

"The post linked to a Truth Social Account that grabbed a digital image of a young man with a bowl haircut who appears to be DeSantis surrounded by three young women," reported Geoff Earle. "One of them, who has her arm around the now-Florida governor, is smiling and appears to be holding a brown glass bottle."

The post he shared said, "Ron DeSantis was having a 'drink' party with his students when he was a high school teacher. Having drinks with underage girls and cuddling with them certainly look pretty gross and ephebophiliaesque" — a term that refers to adults being attracted to teenagers.

"No way?" Trump wrote while amplifying the post from another user. In another post, he wrote, "That's not Ron, is it? He would never do such a thing!"

There is no evidence the people in the image were "underage" or that DeSantis did anything sexual with them. However, a New York Times piece last year extensively documented how DeSantis, when he was working as a high school teacher in Georgia, frequently showed up to party with students, which — while it wasn't breaking any laws — made some people uncomfortable.

DeSantis, who was elected governor in 2018 with Trump's endorsement, has gradually fallen out of favor in his orbit as Republican consultants, donors, and media personalities have lined up behind him as a potential presidential candidate for 2024, which — if he were to declare a run — would make him a direct competitor to Trump's own bid to retake the White House.

Trump has already gone on offense against DeSantis, nicknaming him "Ron DeSanctimonious" and attacking him as a "RINO globalist." He has also refused to commit to supporting the Republican Party in 2024 if he fails to secure the nomination.

Former President Donald Trump accused Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis of engaging in "grooming" behavior in his latest attack against his top rival for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.

The former president on Truth Social Tuesday reposted a post accusing DeSantis of drinking alcohol with minors when he was a high school teacher.

"That's not Ron, is it? He would never do such a thing!" Trump wrote sarcastically.

The picture shows a 23-year-old DeSantis standing and smiling between three women with blurred-out faces.

One of the women in the photos is holding a brown glass bottle but DeSantis isn't pictured drinking. The caption on the post reads, "Here is Ron DeSantimonious grooming high school girls with alcohol as a teacher," followed by the vomit emoji.

The original message Trump reshared was from a user named Dong-Chan Lee, whose account describes him as a "paleoconservative" and Trump supporter.

In another repost, Trump added more sarcastic commentary, writing "No way?" while Dong-Chan Lee's caption read "Ron DeSantis was having a 'drink' party with his students when he was a high school teacher. Having drinks with underage girls and cuddling with them certainly look [sic] pretty gross and ephebophiliaesque."

The first time this photo of DeSantis appeared online was last year after Hill Reporter – a Democratic super PAC blog – posted it.

The photo was taken after the 2001-02 academic year that DeSantis spent as a teacher at the elite Darlington School before attending Harvard Law School, according to The New York Times.

Darlington is a boarding school located in Rome, Georgia, where DeSantis coached baseball and football and taught history and government, the Times reported.

Several students recalled DeSantis going to parties with the seniors, the New York Times reported, citing anonymous sources. Two students recalled DeSantis attending at least two parties where alcohol was served after graduation.

The students reported not being bothered by his attendance but now question it, the report said.

Some of his former students also described him as a "total jock" who partied with students and thought it was "very special" that he graduated from Yale.

Two other students remembered a prank that involved DeSantis challenging a student, who had bragged about how much milk he could drink, to guzzle as much milk as he could in one sitting. The student did and ended up throwing up while dozens of other students watched.

"I think about it, now — I'm a teacher now in public school," Adam Moody, who witnessed the incident told the Times. "I put myself in that moment, and it's just unthinkable. There's a cruelty to the sense of humor. There's a cruelty to the mentorship."

Trump's "grooming" accusation against DeSantis suggested hypocrisy on the part of the Florida governor, whose staff has accused LGBTQ people as well as those who oppose his "Don't Say Gay" bill of "grooming."

Ahead of the gubernatorial election, Trump nicknamed DeSantis "DeSanctimonious," and said it was "disloyal" for the governor to leave open the question of running for president given that Trump's 2018 gubernatorial endorsement helped him win his first election.

But Trump's attack drew backlash from some of his longtime supporters, many of whom are looking to back DeSantis in 2024.

"Trump is falsely accusing DeSantis of pedophilia," tweeted right-wing commentator Ian Miles Cheong. "It is only fair to point out the fact that he traveled on Epstein's Lolita Express seven times. It is also fair to point out that Trump lied about the number of times he traveled on that plane."

DeSantis, who has yet to announce whether he is running for president, has largely ignored Trump's attacks but hit back after the latest jab.

"I'd just say this: I spend my time delivering results for the people of Florida and fighting against Joe Biden," he told reporters. "I don't spend my time trying to smear other Republicans."

Former President Donald Trump and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) topped a new Fox News poll of 2024 Republican candidates out Sunday.

Out of a list of 15 potential candidates, respondents in the poll preferred Trump the most with 43 percent support. Just behind him was DeSantis at 28 percent support. Trump has officially announced his 2024 candidacy, while DeSantis has only been rumored at this point.


Below Trump and DeSantis is a valley as the next top candidate is Nikki Haley, who only received seven percent of support. Former vice president Mike Pence also got seven percent.

The survey also measured where Democratic voters are as far as 2024, asking if there is a preference for President Joe Biden to run for reelection. He has also not officially announced, but he’s hinted he will run and his wife, Jill Biden, has recently been insisting in interviews her husband is sticking it out.

One main concern with Biden, 80, among critics is his age. Haley suggested when she announced her candidacy that she wanted a mental competency test for public servants over 75 years old. In the Fox News poll, a whopping 77 percent approved of the idea while only 20 percent opposed.

According to Fox’s data, more than 50 percent of Democratic primary voters want someone other than Biden, while 37 percent support him running again. Those may not be stunning members, but more than 80 percent of Democratic respondents also said they approve of Biden’s job as president.

The Fox News poll was taken among approximately 1,000 registered voters and has a margin of error of three percent for all voters.

Houston police refer investigation of ex-Biden staffer Sam Brinton's alleged airport luggage theft to FBI
Sam Brinton has not been charged with any crime related to Asya Khamsin’s claims


The Houston Police Department has referred its investigation of a former Biden administration official charged in two separate luggage thefts to the FBI, Fox News Digital has learned.

The case centers around Houston-based Tanzanian fashion designer Asya Khamsin, who alleged earlier this month that clothing worn by former Department of Energy (DOE) official Sam Brinton had been contained in her luggage that she reported missing on March 9, 2018, at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.

Khamsin, who designs her own clothing line, said she recently saw a report that Brinton had been charged with stealing pieces of luggage at two separate airports and noticed that he appeared to be wearing her clothes in several photos. Khamsin said she had packed the same clothes in a bag that vanished back in 2018.

After the apparent theft of her bag, Khamsin and her husband filed a report with the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police Department. The couple also filed a claim with Delta Air Lines, which she had used to travel from Houston to Washington, D.C. The case was never solved.

After seeing her clothing that resembled the ones in her lost bag in the recent media reports about Brinton, Khamsin filed a complaint with the Houston Police Department in December.

Houston police told Fox News Digital on Monday that personnel from the department’s Criminal Investigation Division has met with FBI personnel at the airport regarding the luggage theft case.

As of publishing time, Brinton has not been charged with any crime related to Khamsin’s claims.

Minnesota prosecutors charged Brinton in October with stealing a suitcase worth $2,325 from a Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport baggage carousel in September. Brinton faces up to five years in prison for the alleged crime and was released without bail following a court hearing last week.

Then in December, Nevada prosecutors charged Brinton with grand larceny of an item valued between $1,200 and $5,000. Brinton was accused of stealing a suitcase worth around $3,670 on July 6 at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas. Brinton was released after a judge set bail in the case at $15,000 and ordered Brinton to "stay out of trouble."

Fox News Digital has reached out to Brinton’s lawyer for comment.

On Monday “The Daily Show” kicked off the last week before election day 2020 with the second installment of its 4-part series, “Donald Trump’s 100 Most Tremendous Scandals.”

Where last week counted down from 100 to 76, part two counted down from 76 to 100, and included quite a few oldies but goodies (baddies), like the administration’s absurd lies about the size of Trump’s inauguration, and several we completely forgot about, like massive corruption at several cabinet departments. It’s been a busy 4 years.

“What does it take to be the worst? Luck? Talent? Jared Kushner as your top adviser? Donald Trump has all of these, and it’s helped him the most scandal-ridden president in American history,” said “The Daily Show” correspondent Roy Wood Jr., who once again hosted the segment. “But which of these scandals is the best of the worst? ‘The Daily Show’ consulted historians, political scientists and psychoanalysts, and we ignored all of those people and pulled something out of our ass.”

Former President Donald Trump holds gargantuan leads over his Republican rivals in a new poll, beating Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) by 30 points in a full field, and crushing former South Carolina Governor and Trump UN Ambassador Nikki Haley by 61 points in another matchup.

It was not long ago that many analysts were writing political obituaries for Trump in the wake of a chaotic Speaker of the House election and post-midterm soul-searching. Since then, DeSantis has soft-launched his presidential campaign and Haley officially launched hers.


But those developments have not only failed to make a dent in Trump, recent polls show he stands to steamroll the Republican field — none more so than a new Emerson College poll that shows Trump almost doubling DeSantis:

In the 2024 Republican Primary, President Donald Trump continues to hold 55% of the vote. This number reflects his standing in the January Emerson poll, as well as the June 2022 Emerson poll. A quarter of Republican primary voters (25%) support Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for the GOP nomination, a four point decrease since last month when he held 29% support. Former Vice President Mike Pence holds 8%, and former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley holds 5%. Both Pence and Haley have increased their support by two percentage points since last month.

But in a field that includes only officially-declared candidates, Trump crushes Haley by even more — a whopping 61 points:

On a ballot of exclusively individuals who have announced their candidacy, 79% of respondents would support Donald Trump, 18% Nikki Haley, and 4% Vivek Ramaswamy.

“Of those who support DeSantis on the preliminary ballot, 62% support Trump on the declared ballot and 29% support Haley,” Kimball noted.

There was one poll in mid-January that showed DeSantis beating Trump head-to-head while losing in a wider field, but although DeSantis still fares better head-to-head against Trump, the former president holds double-digit leads over DeSantis in several recent head-to-head polls.

Trump Stiffed Local Cops. Now It’s Coming Back to Bite Him.

As Donald Trump’s Secret Service detail—and the size of his MAGA rallies—has ebbed and flowed, one standard operating procedure for the former president has remained constant: Whenever possible, stiff the contractors.

For all the “back the blue” merchandise one can buy at a Trump rally, finding an event where the cops actually working it had their overtime covered by the campaign is surprisingly difficult. But there’s a cost for Trump, too; the hefty bill that he tends to leave with local governments means the ex-president may have to search for even smaller, more obscure rally venues for his 2024 campaign.

In Sioux City, Iowa, for example, the former president owed more than $11,000 in unpaid reimbursements to the city police and fire departments from a rally he held there on Nov. 3, 2022. While overtime pay to cops and firemen totaled more than $10,000 on the overall tab, Trump’s Save America PAC also rented several parking lots from the city. After pressure from city officials and the local paper, the Sioux City Journal, they eventually paid up.


In Warren, Michigan, however, a city official—who requested her name be withheld—told The Daily Beast the city has yet to see any repayment from Trump for the overtime pay that cops racked up from a MAGA rally held on Oct. 1, 2022, at the Macomb Sports and Expo Center, a 2,800-seat dual arena and convention center.



In Lorain County, Ohio, Trump was joined at the county fairgrounds by Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) and Jim Jordan (R-OH) for a rally in June 2021. On Tuesday, local police told The Daily Beast they couldn’t find any reimbursements for any Trump rallies.

Of the 30 counties and municipalities The Daily Beast contacted to ask whether they’d been reimbursed for local cops and firemen supporting a Trump rally, just one—the city of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania—responded to confirm they got any money back.

But an official at the city clerk’s office wasn’t even sure it was Trump’s money.

“I don’t write the name, I only wrote the check number,” said the official, who also requested her full name be withheld. She said it was unclear if Event Strategies—the main vendor for Trump rallies along with Save America—had paid for the reimbursement, or if it came from elsewhere.

The Trump campaign did not return The Daily Beast’s request for comment.

The evolution of MAGA events over the years is, in part, a story of the consequences of Trump’s pattern of leaving behind the tab. His 2016 insurgent bid was defined by the raucous crowds that gathered in packed arenas and stadiums across cities big and small, even as he reportedly began to burn bridges with law enforcement agencies over unpaid bills.

By the end of his presidential term in 2021, Trump still owed more than $2 million in overtime reimbursement and other expenses, according to an Insider and CTV News analysis.

The ex-president’s most recent venues have mostly been at fairgrounds and airports far from city centers. Officials have previously spoken to the connection between Trump’s indifference toward paying his bills and the quality of his rally venues.

In 2019, Richard Myers, a Colorado cop and the executive director of the Major Cities Chiefs Association, explained why police departments wouldn’t be thrilled to have a Trump rally come to a major downtown arena.

“When one considers how much money campaigns raise and spend, it does not seem unreasonable to expect some degree of reimbursement for such demands for service,” Myers told the Center for Public Integrity.

Trump Is ‘Strapped for Campaign Cash’ After 2024 Launch

But as Trump’s 2024 bid gets off to a listless and low-energy start, there’s a deeper issue for the ex-president and his team if they hope to recreate the MAGA rally magic of his 2016 and 2020 runs.

The WWE-meets-megachurch manifestation of the former president’s political appeal isn’t dead yet, but the demand isn’t what it once was and may not come back for a while, one of his former top advisers told The Daily Beast.

“The reality is that if Donald Trump wanted to throw a huge rally, he might not get 20,000 people to show up,” Alyssa Farah Griffin, Trump’s former White House communications director, said. “Closer to primary season, that’s very possible, but he’s the weakest he’s ever been.”

Indeed, it’s been over 100 days since the last full-fledged open-air Trump rally, a frigid made-you-look routine at the expense of future Sen. J.D. Vance on a tarmac outside of Dayton, Ohio, where he prematurely teased his third presidential bid.

Since then, Trump has embarked on an uncharacteristic foray into retail politics, taking a watered-down version of the MAGA rally to closed-door events aimed at shoring up support among party brass in early primary states. In a visit to the disaster-stricken town of East Palestine, Ohio, last week, Trump played president again, touring the area with Vance and handing out McDonald’s to star-struck residents.

One recent rally indicative of Trump’s changed dynamic came on a rainy May 2022 night in Greensburg, Pennsylvania.

Although Trump had previously held events at the Pittsburgh airport and its downtown convention center, the Greensburg rally for failed Senate candidate and recovering TV star Mehmet Oz—who was repeatedly booed by attendees—fell about an hour outside the city center and relied heavily on a standing-room-only section. The two biggest seating areas protected from the rain along the grandstand were covered in a pair of oversized American flags, an apparent attempt to hedge off any empty crowd photos during the storm.



At the standard post-presidential Trump rally, around a dozen Secret Service officers operate the line where attendees and VIP guests go through a set of metal detectors. Beyond the first security line, the bulk of first responders in the given venue are local cops; county sheriffs and state police are also usually on the scene, along with emergency first responders with a fire department.

According to Farah Griffin, the first signs of shaky demand for Trump’s rallies emerged at the infamous debacle in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in June 2020. With the arena not even two-thirds full by the time doors closed, Farah Griffin recalled thinking for the first time Trump could lose re-election.

She noted that attendance bounced back when he traveled later in the pandemic, but the salad days were clearly done.

“We realized some of—let’s call it ‘the magic’—might be starting to die,” she said.

Another GOP strategist, who requested anonymity to speak candidly, said Trump’s far-flung events have underscored his core political problem. “You’ve gotta be appealing to somebody other than your base,” they said, “and people are tired of it.”

“It shows his limited range,” the strategist added. “I don’t think he’s in as much demand as he thinks he is.”


Trump’s 2020 operation always struggled to find a way to translate rally attendance into veritable voter turnout boosts, Farah Griffin said, though she added their political impacts are “hard to quantify.”

The sag in demand for MAGA rallies began to reach a critical level in the home stretch of the 2022 midterm season. When Trump traveled around the country to stump for GOP allies running in congressional and statewide elections, he was met with smaller crowds and stranger destinations.

The venues included a field on the side of I-95 an hour outside Raleigh, to the Richard M. Borchard Regional Fairgrounds in Texas—some two hours south of San Antonio and over three hours west of Houston—or any one of the other nine state, county, or regional fairgrounds Trump swung by over the past two years.

But Farah Griffin cautioned that it would be unwise to write Trump off based on his increasingly far-flung and less-attended events.

“I think Trump is the most diminished he’s ever been,” she said, “but I still tell people to never sleep on Donald Trump.”

Let’s celebrate Women’s Month, with rude dudes! Wanna candy called “HerShe”? The candy bar has a biological dude’s face on the wrapper. Hershey’s has decided that celebrating Women’s Month with a biological dude is a great idea.

Authenticity wasn’t the first thing that came to mind, but I might be alone. I can tell you, that I never liked nuts on my chocolate – so, this is a flat no from me. In other words, good folks at Hershey’s, I’m not BOYcotting the product. I’m just going to actively avoid buying your nutty, chocolate virtue-pandering.

Thanks for the heads-up, dudes.

In other misogyny news. Sen. Dick Durbin, a dude disguised as someone who’s “pro-women,” was busy, again, making a fool of himself. I know it’s a day ending in “Y.”

Durbin is the Senate’s Judiciary chair and is dumb as a bag of rocks. He has a habit of insulting women he disagrees with. A few days ago while all Senators gave speeches about the dead-as-a-doorknob ERA Amendment, a woman making a completely valid point was insulted by Durbin. He did so by burnishing his equity cred, blathering about the greater good. The exchange went like this:


“Now we hear what’s at stake here is not a constitutional right for women but the fate of field hockey, I, I, am trying to keep up with the arguments here.”

“It might not mean a lot to you Senator, but it means a lot to the girls who play.”

“See, see, I believe you have a, a, sincere belief to… that, girls would feel strongly about the issue if they were field hockey players…”

“Particularly when they are displaced by males on the varsity team”

“But you see, that’s what the argument comes down to – the fate of field hockey, and I think it is much more fundamental – we are talking about the role of women in the United States of America…”

Durbin gave a condescending headshake when mentioning women’s field hockey during his “I don’t care about your daughter” lecture. He doesn’t care about the impact of women as individuals; he cares about claiming savior status for, I guess, ALL women? White Knighting for “ALL” women, while you run over women is like killing women in the womb cause… “women’s rights”!

It boggles the mind how people on the left cannot see that damaging one actual woman, who is replaced by one actual biological man, isn’t aiding women; it’s marginalizing real women and in some instances, ruining a dream.

When a biological man took a spot on the Princeton swim team, it robbed a real woman of that spot. When that biological man swam against women, that bio-man took the spot away from a woman. Durbin cannot see real women being displaced by men as a bad thing. Instead, discrimination against women, sanctioned by schools, the government, and the left, is in general a good thing. Who cares about one girl whose dreams are shattered? Right…Dick?

 

Oh yeah ya know Trump has as much of a chance of winning the treasonous conservative/America Hating/Republican nomination as Liz Cheney. But apparently they forgot to tell that to the treasonous conservative/America Hating/Republican party.

Former President Donald Trump easily won the Conservative Political Action Conference’s (CPAC) closely watched straw poll on Saturday, notching a symbolic win among the Republican grassroots as he seeks to reclaim the White House in 2024.

Trump won with 62 percent, while Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), likely his closest rival, came in at 20 percent. Businessman Perry Johnson, who announced his candidacy for the White House this week, earned 5 percent.

The results aren’t especially surprising; the former president has claimed the top spot in each of the previous five CPAC straw polls, which gauge the presidential preferences of conference attendees.

Trump won last year’s straw poll at CPAC in Orlando, Fla., with 59 percent support. DeSantis scored 28 percent in that straw poll.

At the same time, CPAC has transformed into a Trump-friendly venue over the years, and several prospective 2024 presidential contenders, including DeSantis, former Vice President Mike Pence and Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.), skipped out on the event this time around.

Trump is set to address the conference on Saturday evening, while two other declared presidential hopefuls, former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, delivered remarks earlier in the week.

It was only after her infamous "deplorable" speech that Trump was even given a chance.

And remember mid terms?
The smart money said "red tsunami".
It was a red drip, is what it was.

So yeah, 18 months before the election take any poll, from any source, with skepticism.

Donald Trump's age and his finances might be keeping him from holding a larger number of campaign rallies compared to his previous presidential campaigns, New York Times correspondent Maggie Haberman suggested.

Haberman, a senior political correspondent who has covered Trump extensively for the last several years, contrasted the former president's 2024 run with his previous campaigns on Sunday's "This Week" on ABC News when asked whether Trump is running a "real campaign."


"He has serious people running this campaign. There is a difference in terms of how it is put together from 2016 to now," Haberman replied. "We have seen somebody who got attention in 2015 because he was doing all of these rallies, and he seemed very in-your-face and everywhere."

Trump was "omnipresent" in the media in the 2016 election, but "he's not now," Haberman said. He launched his 2024 campaign months ago in November, yet his speech on Saturday at the Conservative Political Action Conference was "only his fourth real event," according to Haberman.

"He's not on Fox very much, although they did carry his speech live yesterday," Haberman said. "And that is a huge contrast. I suspect part of it, why we're not seeing big rallies, is, A, his age. I mean, we talk a lot about Biden's age. Donald Trump is not young."




Trump is 76 years old, and President Joe Biden is 80 years old.

Haberman continued: "Number two, I don't think they have the money that they once had on that campaign. Those rallies are incredibly expensive. And so I think they are trying to chase news cycles. They've done that somewhat effectively."

From his November 15 campaign announcement to December 31, 2022, Trump raised $9.5 million, according to Bloomberg. By comparison, he raised $250 million between his November 2020 presidential loss and January 6, 2021, according to TIME.

At CPAC, Trump said he wouldn't drop out of the presidential race if he were indicted. The former president faces investigations from Georgia, New York, and two from the federal government.

An indictment is a "very real possibility" in multiple jurisdictions, and people "really need to watch for how he is going to potentially incorporate an indictment" in his bid for reelection, Haberman said.
