The House Oversight Committee has subpoenaed Bank of America for records related to Hunter Biden’s business dealings, Fox News has learned, and is already receiving documents from the bank that have "opened new avenues of investigation about the Biden family’s business schemes."

Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., subpoenaed Bank of America for "all financial records" from three of Hunter Biden’s business associates dating from Jan. 20, 2009 to the present.

"The Oversight Committee has subpoenaed and obtained financial records related to the Biden family’s influence peddling," a committee spokesperson told Fox News Digital. "These documents solidify our understanding of several areas of concern and have opened new avenues of investigation about the Biden family’s business schemes."

The news of the subpoena first surfaced in a letter sent this week by committee Ranking Member Jamie Raskin, D-Md., to Comer, alleging that Republicans on the panel are not conducting a fair investigation and instead are conducting "political opposition research on behalf of former President Trump."

Raskin said the GOP subpoena "required Bank of America to produce ‘all financial records’ for three private individuals from January 20, 2009, to the present — a staggering 14-year period."

"To justify this roving congressional inquisition into the affairs of at least one private American citizen, you have offered that, ‘y 2017, Biden family members and their associates, including John R. Walker, formed a joint venture with CEFC China executives,’ a reference to a now-bankrupt Chinese energy conglomerate," Raskin wrote. "Despite this limited justification, you compelled the production of and obtained thousands of pages of Mr. Walker’s private financial information, including statements of his and his wife’s joint checking account for a decade."

Raskin’s letter said Bank of America is turning "thousands of pages" of financial information belonging to Hunter Biden business associate John R. Walker, known as Rob Walker. The identity of the other two people whose records are being turned over to the committee is unclear at this time.

Walker worked with Hunter Biden, President Biden's brother Jim, their business associate James Gilliar and Tony Bobulinksi in a joint-venture called Sinohawk Holdings, which was meant to be a partnership with Chinese energy firm CEFC.

"I fear this wildly overbroad subpoena suggests that your interest in this investigation is not in pursuing defined facts or informing public legislation but conducting a dragnet of political opposition research on behalf of former President Trump," Raskin wrote.

A GOP committee spokesperson told Fox News that Raskin’s letter is simply to "try to get ahead of the information the Oversight Committee is receiving in its investigation of the Biden family's influence peddling."

"Ranking Member Raskin may want to have his staff conduct another review of the records obtained by the committee, as there are several quite notable developments that have both solidified the committee's understanding of several areas of concern and opened new avenues of investigation about the Biden family’s business schemes," the spokesperson said.

Bank of America declined to comment.

Last month, Comer sent requests to President Biden's brother and Hunter Biden's business partner, Eric Schwerin, for records as Republicans probe whether members of the Biden family leveraged Joe Biden's position as vice president to "sell access around the world."

The committee’s investigation comes as the federal investigation into Hunter Biden continues into its fifth year.

Hunter Biden has been under federal investigation since 2018 for his tax affairs – an investigation that was predicated, in part, by suspicious activity reports (SARs) regarding some foreign transactions. Those SARs involved funds from "China and other foreign nations," according to sources familiar with the investigation.

Fox News first reported the existence of some type of investigation involving Hunter Biden in October 2020, ahead of the last presidential election. Hunter Biden confirmed the investigation into his "tax affairs" in December 2020, after his father was elected president.

The investigation is being led by Trump-appointed Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss.

Joe Biden’s Treasury Department has been stymying the effort to get suspicious activity reporters related to the Biden family business deals for years. It’s been a scandal that hasn’t gotten the attention it deserves. When Rep. James Comer (R-KY) tried to get the records before the Republicans took over the House, the Biden administration changed the rules that prevented members of Congress from getting the records unless it was from the Committees (which Democrats controlled). Then, even when the Republicans took over the House, the Treasury Department wasn’t complying initially.


But as we reported, the House Oversight Committees subpoenaed the bank records. They had scheduled a Treasury official to come in and explain in an interview on the record why the Department hadn’t complied with their requests. On Tuesday, Comer, now Chair of the Committee, announced that the Treasury Department had finally been forced to cooperate and was turning over records.

Comer also dropped a big tidbit about what they had been able to discover to date in their investigations. They had subpoenaed bank records from three Hunter Biden associates, including Rob Walker. They’re now reviewing 14 years of SARs from Bank of America.

Comer hit Sean Hannity’s show Monday night and Fox this morning to talk about some of what they’ve found so far.

According to Comer, Walker was wired millions by CCP-connected individuals two months after Joe Biden stopped being vice president. The money was then distributed to three Biden family members, including a Biden family member whose name has never been included previously as a recipient of any monies. Comer said that he couldn’t identify any related business and that it appeared to go into their personal accounts. He said that he believes it’s influence peddling, and that raises questions about people then being foreign agents. You have to be registered to be a foreign agent and that raises possible breaking of the law there as well. “The question is what were the Bidens doing to receive these massive amounts of money?” Comer asked. He also noted this was just one wire and they had many more to go through. He noted the Walker account was also just one account and there were many more associates.

Interestingly, Comer wasn’t giving up that third name and then he repeated there was a “problem” with figuring out what they were doing to get such sums of money from the CCP-connected people. “I think every American should be concerned about that,” Comer declared. “This is an issue of national security.”

How panicked are the Democrats? The ranking member Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) tried to deflect and suggested this was somehow “opposition research” for President Donald Trump’s 2024 run. What is so incredibly ironic is that projection — that’s what the Clinton team did in hiring Fusion GPS in their effort to try to smear Trump and promote the Russia collusion hoax. But Comer and the Republicans have been pursuing this information for years, so unlike the Democrats, this isn’t about being slimy. Comer chastised Raskin for his remarks.

George Washington Law professor Jonathan Turley noted that these suspicious activity reports could go a long way to revealing the scope of the influence peddling. “It could also supply added evidence of possible criminal charges over tax crimes as well as unlawful work as a foreign agent. There are also possible allegations of evading financial rules, false statements, and even money laundering,” Turley explained. He also tweeted that “this is an example of why such transparency is needed to fully understand the scope of the alleged influence peddling by the Biden family.”

That’s a lot to go through with 14 years of records. Walker was also involved in the formation of the company that Tony Bobulinski spoke about that involved “10 percent for the big guy” — meaning Joe Biden — and we could potentially find out more about that. Walker was the guy that said Bobulinksi was going to “bury” all of them by talking.

So this is a huge break into unraveling all of it.

  The rules, which cleared the Bay Area Air Quality Management District board by a 20-0 vote Wednesday evening, with one abstention, will prohibit the sale or installation of gas-powered water heaters in single-family homes beginning in 2027.

  The rule will apply to gas-powered furnaces in 2029 and large commercial water heaters beginning in 2031.
  
  Regulators argued that the nearly 2 million gas-powered appliances in homes and buildings in the Bay Area are a major source of pollution in the region, saying in a statement that the rule will improve air quality, reduce exposure to particulate matter, and save residents an estimated $890 million per year in health costs due to air pollution exposure.
  
  "This groundbreaking regulation will phase out the most polluting appliances in homes and businesses to protect Bay Area residents from the harmful air pollution they cause,” Dr. Philip Fine, the agency's executive officer, said after the vote.
  
  But the strict regulations have sparked pushback from the industry and Bay Area residents, who note they could sharply drive up housing costs in the region — already among the highest in the U.S. — and limit consumers’ choices when their gas-powered appliances break or need replacement.
  
  
  Switching to “zero-NOx,” or electric appliances, will cost residents thousands of dollars. According to the Air Quality Management District's estimates, switching from a gas-powered furnace to a zero-NOx heater will cost consumers an average of $8,030. They estimate it will be $2,820 to upgrade to zero-NOx water heaters.
  
  A 2022 study from the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory found that mid-range electric heat pumps cost nearly $3,000 more than gas furnaces.
  
  And installation of the appliances could also be expensive, especially if the new appliances require homes to upgrade to electrical panels.
  
  That could run an additional $2,630 for zero-NOx space heaters and $960 for zero-NOx water heaters, the regulators said.
  
  Kyle Bergeron, a regulatory engineer with the Air Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute, told board members during yesterday’s meeting that he is “gravely concerned” about the high installation costs.

Ashli Babbitt, 35

Babbitt, a 14-year air force veteran from San Diego, was among a group of people who could be seen attempting to break down the doors of the US Senate chamber as members sheltered. Cameras captured the moment she was rushed out on a stretcher after being shot by a Capitol police officer. She died at the hospital.

“I really don’t know why she decided to do this,” Babbitt’s mother-in-law told Washington’s WTTG.

Just a day before the rally, Babbitt tweeted the QAnon conspiracy called “the storm”, in which supporters believe Donald Trump will emerge to overthrow and execute corrupt political elites and enemies.

Benjamin Phillips, 50
A computer programmer from Schuylkill county, Pennsylvania, Phillips organized a caravan from Pennsylvania to the Capitol grounds for the planned insurrection. Once there, he had a stroke and died, although authorities have not confirmed at what point during the attack.

Witnesses told the Philadelphia-Inquirer he was last seen looking for parking before the president gave his speech at the “Save America March”.

Kevin Greeson, 55
A native of rural Athens, Alabama, Greeson died of an apparent heart attack at an unknown point during the events. His family confirmed in a statement that a history of high blood pressure “in the midst of the excitement” contributed to the medical emergency.

Greeson posted racist diatribes online and associated with the Proud Boys, a far-right group known for enacting political violence and racial terror.

Despite the family’s insistence that “he was not there to participate in violence or rioting” and did not “condone such actions”, Greeson had posted to popular conservative social platforms calling for supporters to “load your guns and take to the streets” in the weeks leading up to the events.

“Let’s take this fucking country back,” he posted to Parler. Like many of the white nationalists who participated, Greeson never specifies from whom the country is being taken.

Rosanne Boyland, 34
The resident of Kennesaw, Georgia, reportedly died of a medical emergency during the riots. Family members later told reporters Boyland had been crushed in the melee.

Boyland, an avid Trump supporter, had a criminal history, including being charged with possession or distribution of heroin “at least four other times” in Georgia. Other past charges include battery, obstruction of law enforcement and trespassing.

President Joe Biden slammed Republicans on Tuesday after several of them called for the defunding of the FBI and other federal law enforcement agencies.

Biden delivered a speech in Monterey Park, California, where in January a gunman killed 11 people. The president issued an executive order seeking to bolster background checks on firearms buyers and directed relevant federal departments to ensure they are enforcing gun legislation Biden signed into law last year.

The president and congressional Republicans are currently wrangling over Biden’s budget proposal, which the GOP says does not do enough to reduce the deficit.


Some Republicans have called for various agencies within the Department of Justice to be pared back or defunded. They have accused the Biden administration of “weaponizing” the DOJ against conservatives. At last month’s Conservative Political Action Conference, Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) demanded multiple departments be eliminated.

“We either get this government back on our side or we defund and get rid of abolish the FBI, CDC, ATF, DOJ, every last one of ’em if they do not come to heel,” Gaetz said as the crowd cheered raucously. “And I don’t think it’s too much to ask.”

Former Trump economic adviser and current Fox Business host Larry Kudlow joined Fox News’s America Reports on Thursday to discuss ongoing fears of an escalating banking crisis in the U.S.

“I know the media is constantly reporting a new financial and banking crisis. I don’t know if that’s true,” argued Kudlow, pouring cold water all over much of the coverage of the economy on the right.

“I don’t know if we have a true financial crisis. I think what you have is one particularly rogue bank. That being Silicon Valley Bank that did crazy things.”


“Then why is the Federal Reserve altering its monetary policy based on–” shot back anchor Sandra Smith before Kudlow interjected.

“Well, I don’t know that they will, by the way. And if the Fed pauses next week, they may just pause for one month. I’m telling you, they’re going to have to raise rates more because the economy is strong,” Kudlow declared.
“I don’t care about that. They do. The Atlanta Fed is predicting now 3.2% growth in Q1. That is a huge number,” he added, concluding the Fed will still have to work to tackle inflation:

And the inflation rate is still five or 6%, which is two to three times the Fed’s inflation target. So what I’m trying to explain to you is the Fed might pause judiciously, but only for a few weeks. I don’t know that we have a banking crisis. We may. And these things tend to come in clumps. So impossible to predict.

he Hong Kong company which wired over $3 million bound for Biden family associates in 2017, appears to have been run by a member of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) at the time of the transfer, a Daily Caller News Foundation investigation determined.

In March 2017, the month after President Joe Biden’s tenure as vice president in the Obama administration ended, State Energy HK Limited wired $3 million to Robinson Walker, LLC, run by “Biden family associate” John Robinson Walker, a House Oversight Committee memorandum revealed on Thursday. Yet, the DCNF found that at the time of the $3 million transfer, the chairman and executive director of State Energy HK Limited appears to have been Lei Donghui, who joined the CCP in July 2002, according to a Chinese government website.

From State Energy HK Limited’s $3 million transfer, Robinson Walker, LLC subsequently distributed $1,065,692 in “incremental payments over a period of approximately three months” to as many as four Biden family members, according to the memorandum.

Robinson Walker, LLC transferred these funds to Hallie Biden, James Brian Biden Sr. (James Biden), Robert Hunter Biden (Hunter Biden) and an “unknown bank account identified as ‘Biden,'” the committee’s memorandum states.

While some of the transfers from Robinson Walker, LLC were sent directly to Biden family members, other transfers were sent to “their companies,” according to the committee, including Owasco PC, JBBSR Inc and RSTP II, LLC.

In total, approximately one-third of State Energy HK Limited’s $3 million transfer went to Biden family members, the committee determined.

On March 2, 2017, Robinson Walker, LLC sent another $1,065,000 from State Energy HK Limited’s $3 million transfer to the European Energy and Infrastructure Group (EEIG) in Abu Dhabi, a self-styled “advisory organization,” according to the memorandum. James Gilliar, a “business partner of Hunter Biden,” is allegedly “associated” with EEIG, according to the committee.

The revelations emerge less than a month after the House Oversight Committee, led by Chairman James Comer, subpoenaed financial records from John Robinson Walker and Robinson Walker, LLC, on Feb. 27, 2023, committee records state.

The White House, Lei and State Energy HK Limited did not respond immediately to the DCNF’s request for comment.

A spokesperson for Hunter Biden's legal team confirmed the payments Thursday but emphasized that the recipients' accounts "belonged to Hunter, his uncle and Hallie – nobody else."

However, Biden denied that the payments were made when confronted by a reporter on the White House lawn Friday.


"That's not true," the president said, when asked about the GOP lawmakers' findings.

Financial records that Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., subpoenaed from Bank of America say otherwise.

The records revealed that on March 1, 2017, less than two months after then-Vice President Joe Biden left office, State Energy HK Limited, a separate Chinese company, wired $3 million to Robinson Walker, LLC.

"The next day, Robinson Walker, LLC wired $1,065,000 to European Energy and Infrastructure Group in Abu Dhabi, a company associated with James Gilliar," a memo from the committee states.

Gilliar was a business partner of Hunter Biden involved in his foreign business ventures.

"After the Robinson Walker, LLC account received $3 million from State Energy HK Limited, Biden family members and their companies began receiving incremental payments over a period of approximately three months," the memo states. "The recipients of the money included Hallie Biden, companies associated with Hunter Biden and James Biden, and an unknown bank account identified as ‘Biden.’"

Republican lawmakers say they are probing whether the Biden family leveraged Joe Biden's former position as vice president to make lucrative deals with foreign nationals.

The White House in a statement did not deny the findings, but blasted the committee's investigation into the Biden family.

"After a disgusting attack lamenting that the President’s deceased son Beau was never prosecuted while he was alive, Congressman Comer has now decided to go after Beau’s widow," said White House spokesman Ian Sams said, referring to comments Comer made earlier this month about the late Beau Biden's campaign contributions.

"Instead of bizarrely attacking the President’s family, perhaps House Republicans should focus on working with the President to deliver results for American families on important priorities like lowering costs and strengthening health care," Sams said.

Hunter Biden's legal team accused Republicans of pushing a "baseless right-wing conspiracy theory," even as they confirmed that the payments had happened.

"Hunter Biden, a private citizen with every right to pursue his own business endeavors, joined several business partners in seeking a joint venture with a privately-owned, legitimate energy company in China," the spokesperson said. "As part of that joint venture, Hunter received his portion of good faith seed funds which he shared with his uncle, James Biden, and Hallie Biden, with whom he was involved with at the time, and sharing expenses."

 

Any good lawyer will tell their client, the best course is to deny.
And the more guilty you are, the more emphatically you deny and act outraged.
