@Stormy8330 Sorry for the frustration and aggravation that you are going through!

I went back and read the bills carefully and for the most part what you are saying is true. It does allow for people under 18 to receive medication whether they were taking it before or after the bill was signed. However! It must be approved by the Board of Medicine and the Board of Osteopathic Medicine. And to your point this will be very difficult to obtain. We both agree this is necessity for these young adults. From what I read, this is to prevent any person from receiving medical treatment if they do not meet the requirements outlined in the bill. However they made this to stringent & too difficult for parents to obtain medical services.

As far as anyone over 18, you only have to sign the release onetime unless the Dr. Change your meds. Then you have to sign the release for that medication.
"Consent required under subsection (2) does not apply to renewals of prescriptions consistent with those referenced under s. 456.001(9)(a)1. and 2. if a physician and his or her patient have met the requirements for consent for the initial prescription or renewal. However, separate consent is required for any new prescription for a pharmaceutical product not previously prescribed to the patient."

It doesn't make sense to me why they would include adults into this bill so I am totally against this!

The bathroom thing just doesn't work either way and both scenarios will create some type of retribution. It should be mandatory to have a third bathroom like several places have and defined it as "family bathroom." Personally I don't care what you call it, as long as its a safe environment.

The rest of this, you are spot on and I totally agree with you!

I Wish you the best in your travels and your search for solace.

Text messages reveal Ron DeSantis worked 'more closely' with convict Lev Parnas than previously disclosed

This Wednesday, May 24, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is expected to officially announce his plans to enter the 2024 GOP presidential primary. Polls have been showing former President Donald Trump with considerable leads over the MAGA governor in hypothetical matchups, including 42 percent (Harvard-Harris) or 45 percent (Rasmussen). But DeSantis' supporters are hoping that the May 24 announcement will give him a badly needed boost.

When DeSantis makes his presidential run official, that will bring him intensified scrutiny from Trump as well as from Democratic strategists and President Joe Biden's reelection campaign. And one thing they may be taking a close look at, according to Reuters, is DeSantis' relationship with Ukrainian-American businessman Lev Parnas.

Reuters reporters Aram Roston and Joseph Tanfani, in an article published on May 22, explain, "DeSantis and Parnas worked more closely together than the Republican governor has disclosed, according to a detailed account of their relationship Parnas provided to Reuters and 63 previously unreported text messages from DeSantis to Parnas between May and October 2018, as DeSantis campaigned for governor. A jury later found Parnas guilty of campaign finance crimes and other charges."

Text messages obtained by Reuters, according to Roston and Joseph Tanfani, "show that DeSantis "frequently…. appealed to fellow Floridian Parnas for introductions, advice and other fundraising help during his hotly contested campaign for governor."

"The texts also reveal that Parnas served as an intermediary between DeSantis and former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, who at the time, was the personal attorney of then-President Trump," the Reuters journalists explain. "In one case, 10 days before the 2018 election, DeSantis sent Parnas a text with suggested wording for a Giuliani tweet in support of his candidacy, the messages show."

'Scorched earth': DeSantis accused of burning Florida for his own political ambitions

    Gideon Rubin
    May 22, 2023, 7:36 PM ET

The NAACP's travel advisory warning that Florida is “openly hostile toward African Americans, people of color and LGBTQ+ individuals" is the latest sign of a growing backlash against Gov. Ron DeSantis' enactment of ultra right-wing laws targeting marginalized groups, columnist Ja’han Jones wrote for MSNBC Monday.

"Under the leadership of Governor DeSantis, the state of Florida has become hostile to Black Americans and in direct conflict with the democratic ideals that our union was founded upon," the NAACP said in a statement over the weekend.

“Before traveling to Florida,” the NAACP wrote, “please understand that the State of Florida devalues and marginalizes the contributions of and the challenges faced by African Americans and other minorities.”

The NAACP’s announcement follows similar moves by Equity Florida, an LGBTQ+ advocacy group, and the League of United Latin American Citizens.

Jones wrote that the “three new advisories, taken together, highlight a reality that ought to disturb people in Florida — not merely those who have thought about traveling there.”

“As governor, DeSantis has been an overbearing and dictatorial executive, even when it comes to right-wing lawmakers in the legislature who are, for the most part, politically aligned with him.

“Whether it’s watering down the power of Black voters, demonizing LGBTQ people, maligning migrants or targeting private corporations that defy the governor’s political will, Florida Republicans largely acquiesce to DeSantis’ wishes.”

Jones wrrote that the travel warnings, along with DeSantis’ ongoing dispute with Walt Disney Co., which compelled the company last week to announce plans to scrap a $1 billion campus that would have added 2,000 jobs to Florida, imperils the Sunshine State’s economy.

Jones wrote that “all of these things stand to negatively affect Florida — not just by debasing its politics, but, as the travel advisories show, by threatening the state’s economy as well. DeSantis is going scorched earth in Florida as he looks toward greener pastures.”

“The travel advisories, much like Disney’s decision to nix a future development in Florida as DeSantis wages a political war against the company, are instructive. They show that no matter where DeSantis is living in 2024, it’s Floridians who will be dealing with the firestorm he has created.”

DeSantis’ presidential campaign may be short-lived as popularity nosedives: columnist

    Gideon Rubin

Ron DeSantis is expected to announce his presidential candidacy later this week but, unless he makes some major adjustments, the Florida governor likely won’t last long in the Republican race, according to a Washington Post columnist.

Eugene Robinson wrote that despite his proclamations that he’s the only Republican who could beat President Joe Biden in 2024, DeSantis’ flagging poll numbers suggest a dramatic course correction is in order.

Robinson noted that, according to the RealClearPolitics polling average, DeSantis’ popularity has nosedived in recent months. DeSantis trailed former President Donald Trump by just 13 points in late February, a deficit that’s since ballooned to 37 points.

Robinson wrote: “This trend line is hardly encouraging for DeSantis’s theory of the case.

“His bet is that Republican voters want a nominee who has a proven track record of enacting conservative policies and who models Trump’s pugnacity but is not burdened with the former president’s mountain of baggage.”

DeSantis has used the Florida legislature as “a campaign billboard,” Robinson wrote, noting the Republican governor has enacted a series of measures including loosening gun laws, lowering the threshold for imposing the death penalty and so-called “anti-woke” laws that have imposed restrictions on teachers and administrators, along with a six-week abortion ban, among the nation’s toughest, all of which figure to appeal to conservatives.

Robinson contends that DeSantis’ dispute with Walt Disney Co. over the company’s criticism of his “don’t say gay” law that bans discussion of gender and sexuality in public schools seems to be “wildly at odds with traditional conservative values” and “seems really stupid.” He notes that Disney CEO Bob Iger has since announced plans to abandon a $1 billion office campus that would have added 2,000 jobs to the Sunshine State.

Robinson writes that “the Disney thing would just be a loopy sideshow if it didn’t highlight traits that could hold DeSantis back as a presidential candidate — and that would be dangerous for the nation and the world if, heaven forbid, he ever became president: paper-thin skin, a propensity to hold grudges and a tendency to go way too far.”

DeSantis last week told donors that he, along with Trump and Biden, are the only credible candidates but that only he and Biden can win.

“You have basically three people at this point that are credible in this whole thing, Biden, Trump and me.” DeSantis told donors on a call organized by his “Never Back Down” super PAC.

“And I think of those three, two have a chance to get elected president — Biden and me, based on all the data in the swing states, which is not great for the former president and probably insurmountable because people aren’t going to change their view of him.”

Robinson argues that DeSantis’ support for far-right policies make it hard to see how he’d appeal to swing voters.

“But how does he imagine his six-week abortion ban, his law letting Floridians carry concealed firearms without a permit, his attempts to squelch free speech on college campuses, and his death-match against the Magic Kingdom will play in those swing states? Why would suburban women who voted for Joe Biden in 2020 vote for Ron DeSantis in 2024,” Robinson writes.

“Great politicians learn from their mistakes and course correct as necessary. DeSantis seems not to understand that going full-speed ahead is a bad idea if you’re approaching a cliff.”

Yeh well good luck trying to find that out. He has a new law he signed three weeks ago.. Might have a month or so ago. That says he no longer has to disclose who he meets with, who he visits, what his travel is, or where. Yeh, that happened.

Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a bill into law Thursday that exempts records related to his travel from the state’s robust public disclosure law.

Under the new law, law enforcement agencies would be barred from sharing any records related to the governor’s security and travel, as well as “for persons for whom such services are requested by the governor.”

    Don't see the problem.
The president of the United States is not willing to reveal visitors to his Deleware white house. Visitors to Trumps Florida and New York white houses were ongoing fodder for the media.

So if Desantis wants to follow Bidens example, whats the problem?

    1. Stormy8330
Humm.. Did you read the part where I said, I thought it would be ok for any of them? No, you didn't and why? Because I think they should all have to show their records. Hence the reason I said that in the first place. Shooter are you just looking for a fight? Because it seems like you try really hard.

    A fight??
    Why no.
Shooter was noting the hypocrisy of a media that agonizes over every visitor to Trump's residence, yawns when the current administration refuses to disclose visitors to the Deleware whitehouse, and claims scurrilous intent when a deplorable governor decides not to publish his travel plans.

    We're actually in agreement a lot, @Stormy8330 .

So shooter why hasn't Desantis acknowledged Biden's 2020 election victory. Why did Desantis urge Trump to "fight on" with his attempts to overturn a national election?

What's so difficult about admitting Trump lost?

    Enlighten us :O_o:

Because his world would crumble, and he'd have to go back to Xcebia with his tail between his legs, and then admit to The Big Giant Head that he was incapable of changing a simple human election. He'd have to take the punishment, and his children would then be disgraced for at least two, maybe even three generations.

But as long as he keeps denying he (and Trump) lost, then everything is fine.

Hamburger Mary’s Is Dragging Ron DeSantis... To Court

    Hamburger Mary's and Ron DeSantis

What’s the latest addition to the menu at Hamburger Mary’s? The famed burger chain is now serving justice.

Hamburger Mary’s in Orlando has filed suit against Florida Governor Ron DeSantis claiming that his campaign against LGBTQ+ people and drag queens has deprived the business of its First Amendment rights, and the new drag laws have deprived the company of customers.

Last week, DeSantis signed bills aimed at transgender people, specifically treatments for minors, the use of trans and nonbinary pronouns in school, bathroom access, and keeping children from attending drag shows.

Hamburger Mary’s hosts drag performances including bingo, trivia, and comedy, and on Sundays they offer popular “family friendly” events that children are invited to attend. However, in the lawsuit, the restaurant alleges after the bill was signed it lost 20% of its bookings for Sunday and future events.

“In addition to the loss of (customers) canceling, the establishment has had to ban children from the family friendly performances because they simply cannot take the chance that their business or liquor licenses would be suspended for hosting a drag show where children attend,” the lawsuit states. “In addition, the criminal penalties of the law put individuals at risk of prosecution because of the content of their speech.”

“Even the most innocent drag performances, to reach into the private homes of Florida citizens, and to determine on behalf of parents what is and is not appropriate entertainment for their children,” the lawsuit argues. “The broad, sweeping nature of the statute, and the vagueness regarding what conduct is and is not prohibited, will have a chilling effect on the First Amendment rights of the citizens of Florida.”

DeSantis tells evangelicals He wants to ‘improve’ Supreme Court so justices reflect ‘gold standard’ of Clarence Thomas

Speaking before a welcoming crowd of national evangelical broadcasters one Tuesday, Florida GOP Governor Ron DeSantis declared Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas is the "gold standard for jurisprudence" and the next president could have the opportunity to create a 7-2 conservative majority that would last for a quarter century.

DeSantis, who will formally announce his 2024 presidential run on Wednesday with Twitter owner Elon Musk, appeared to be perfecting his stump speech as he delivered his 30-minute remarks before the National Religious Broadcasters Convention, which just happened to be hosting its 2023 annual convention in Orlando.

Merely hinting at his impending presidential candidacy announcement, DeSantis at one point in his lengthy speech said, "the U.S. Supreme Court with some of the recent appointments is in a much better spot than it's been in a long time. But I think if you look over, you know, the next two presidential terms, there is a good chance that you could be called upon to seek replacements for Justice Clarence Thomas, and Justice Samuel Alito, and the issue with that is you can't really do better than those two. They are the gold standard for jurisprudence."

Justices Thomas and Alito are seen as the most far-right extremists on the Supreme Court today. Justice Thomas is at the center of what many legal experts see as a two-decade old corruption scandal involving possibly millions of dollars.

"And so you got to make sure that we're appointing people who are going to be as close to that standard as possible," he declared. "If you replace a Clarence Thomas with somebody like a [John] Roberts or somebody like that, then you're going to actually see the court move to the left. And you can't do that. I also think if you, if you look over those eight years, you very well could be called upon to replace Chief Justice John Roberts, and perhaps even someone like Justice Sotomayor."

Justice Sonia Sotomayor is rated the most left-leaning of all the current Supreme Court Justices. She is 68.

"So it is possible that in those eight years, we'd have the opportunity to fortify justices Scalia [sic] and Thomas Alito, and in Thomas, as well as actually make improvements with those others and if you were able to do that, you would have a seven to two conservative majority on the Supreme Court that would last a quarter-century. So this is big stuff very important that that that gets done right.

Watch DeSantis' speech below or at this link (video begins at 11:48 mark).

Well its official Desantis announces 2024 candidacy. And Trump is already on the attack.

"Resorting to his nicknames of “Ron DeSanctus” and “Rob DeSanctimonious”, he repeated his usual talking points for the Florida governor and one-time close ally – saying he “desperately needs a personality transplant” and calling him a “disloyal person” and a “disciple of horrible RINO Paul Ryan”.

“Look, Rob DeSanctimonious came to me asking for help. He was losing badly, by 31 points, to popular Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam,” he fumed.

“He was getting ready to drop out of the race - Ran a terrible campaign! Ron told me he had one last chance, my Support & Endorsement."

Trumptard vs Trump himself. Should be quite a show.
