Most of the legal speculation right now is this involves Trump taking classified material to Mar a Lago. As some legal analysts have pointed out some of the material Trump took to Mar a Lago were so highly classified and sensitive they cannot be described in court flings or anywhere else outside a secure location with people who have a high enough level of security clearance.

It is believed that while the national archives took 15 boxes of material Trump illegally took to Mar a Lago he did not hand over everything he had taken and especially some of the most highly classified.

Former Justice Department prosecutor Andrew Weissmann, who worked on special counsel Robert Mueller's team, explained on MSNBC that if he was advising a client facing what former President Donald Trump is, there would be a strong warning.

"If I were Donald Trump's lawyer right now, thank God I'm not, I would be advising my client to be telling [their] family, 'I am looking at jail time, and we should make plans accordingly.'"

After House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) threatened Attorney General Merrick Garland, Weissmann said that he should just keep his head down and keep doing his job.

"That is such a palpably false statement, the comment from Mr. McCarthy that he is seen enough," said Weissmann. "One of the things that none of us has seen is the warrant, an application to the court. It's very important to remember this was not a break-in, this was not a raid, this was not the attorney general of the United States deciding willy-nilly on his own that he was going to do the search. A court had to approve the search here based on, as you point out Lawrence, evidence. The evidence had to show that there was probable cause of a crime. That is the way our judicial system works, and that is what happened here."

While McCarthy may want to hold a public hearing of Garland and demand documents, what the Republicans might ultimately end up doing is drawing additional attention to what Trump stole or attempted to destroy.

"I think the thing that I found the most remarkable and I think it's really worth people really taking a step back, is this does mean the attorney general of the United States did not trust the former president to simply produce the documents voluntarily pursuant to a subpoena," said Weissmann. "And it was necessary to go via search warrant. Normally, you think that if you order a subpoena to any reputable person they will produce documents. When you issue and obtain a search warrant, it is because you do not trust that the person will actually produce the documents. That means if they had to have evidence of that that led Merrick Garland to take this step. It was bold but certainly approved by the courts."

He went on to joke that the irony is that, all of the sudden, Kevin McCarthy cares about document preservation.

"The Trump administration pioneered all these different ways of doing it from flushing it down the toilet, to burning it in the White House fireplace," recalled Weissmann. "Points for creativity, but, all in all, I don't think I expect a statement from the Justice Department about [McCarthy's threats]."

Let me show you something here. To see how they are just outrageous hypocrites that change their stories if it involves their Cult Leader Traitor Trump.

I am mostly only quoting @shootersa here but he represents all the right wing false propaganda talking points of the day no matter what day it is. So take a look at what the right wing false propaganda noise machine had to say about handling classified information when it came to Hillary Clinton and what they are saying now.

So, given the penalties Bissonnette and Petreus paid for their indescretions, what would a fair penalty for Clinton be, assuming the investigation confirms what is being investigated?

The news that Russia sponsored cyber attacks on America isn't new information. As early as 2015 American Intelligence agencies were aware of Russian interest in impacting our elections.

What is becoming big news is Obama's reaction to Russian hacking attempts. Obama's former cyber chief, Michael Daniel, who served from 2012 until 2017, testified about orders he received in 2016 during a Senate Intelligence Committee hearing into how the Obama administration dealt with Russian cyber and information warfare attacks.

He testified that he was ordered to "stand down" and to put on the back burner any response to Russian hacking attempts by Susan Rice, President Obama’s national security adviser, to stop his efforts and “stand down.” This order was in part because Rice feared the options would leak and “box the president in.” Everyone also assumed that the next administration would deal with it, meaning Clinton.

President Obama instead chose to give Putin a "strongly worded warning" during a summit in China in early September 2016. Predictably, the warning hardly slowed the pace of attacks.

Another revelation came from Victoria Nuland, who served as assistant secretary of state for Europe during the Obama administration. She told the panel that she had been briefed as early as December 2015 about the hacking of the Democratic National Committee — long before senior DNC officials were aware of it — and that the intrusion had all the hallmarks of a Russian operation.

So, here's the thing.
It turns out that the Obama administration was aware much earlier that the Russians were hacking DNC computers, as early as the winter of 2016, but did nothing to stop the hacking. Why? Because of fears it would a) Play into Trump's claims that the election was fixed b) that it would further expose Clinton to charges that her private e Mail server was a source of leaks of classified material and c) "box the President in". Box him into what isn't clear, but apparently, that was more important than national security and free elections.

According to the inspector general, a special review of the Clinton email investigation in 2017 by the office to the FBI’s Inspection Division found that, before Comey’s 2016 statement, “the FBI ... successfully determined classified information was improperly stored and transmitted on Clinton’s email server, and classified information was compromised by unauthorized individuals, to include foreign governments or intelligence services, via cyber intrusion or other means” (emphasis added).

...........The media, however, virtually ignored another exchange between Gohmert and Strzok that revealed a potential bombshell. Gohmert asked Strzok about his meeting in 2016 with Frank Rucker and Janette McMillan, an investigator and lawyer, respectively, for then-Intelligence Community Inspector General Chuck McCullough (an Obama appointee).

McCullough sent them to see Strzok, who was the FBI’s deputy assistant director for the Counterintelligence Division, to brief him and three other FBI personnel about an “anomaly” that their forensic analysis had found in Clinton’s server.

According to Gohmert, the inspector general discovered that, with four exceptions, “every single one” of Clinton’s emails—more than 30,000—“were going to an address that was not on the distribution list.”

In other words, according to the information Gohmert received from the intelligence inspector general, something was causing Clinton’s server to send copies of all of her email communications outside of the country “to an unauthorized source that was a foreign entity unrelated to Russia.”

If true, this means that Clinton’s email communication with her top aides, department leadership, ambassadors, and other officials, including President Barack Obama, may have been read by an alien entity, perhaps a foreign power hostile to the United States. That could include confidential, sensitive, and even classified information about our foreign policy or our allies.

Gohmert’s exchange with Strzok doesn’t reveal who the foreign entity is, but if not the Russians, the likely culprit is the Chinese government, which has a special unit of hackers within its military that has long targeted the U.S.

Our intelligence agencies have identified the Chinese as responsible for the biggest data breach to ever hit the federal government, the 2015 hack of the Office of Personnel Management that stole the files, including security clearance applications, of 21 million current and former federal employees.

Here is how Strzok should have responded to Gohmert’s question about the briefing that Strzok received from the intelligence inspector general’s staff:

As the FBI’s lead counterintelligence agent, I understood that this was a major security breach, with widespread implications over the disclosure of sensitive and classified communications.

“I immediately implemented protocols to investigate the extent of the problem; to notify all agencies and government officials whose communications had been compromised; to assess the damage that may have been done to specific operations, assets, programs, and personnel; and to prepare recommendations on how to remedy the problems caused by this disclosure.”

Unfortunately, Strzok actually said that while he did “remember meeting Mr. Rucker on either one or two occasions,” he did not “recall the specific content or discussions.”

In other words, the FBI’s main counterintelligence director doesn’t remember being told that the secretary of state (his preferred candidate for president) had a breach in her computer system that forwarded all of her internal communications—including emails containing classified information—to a foreign entity.

Since he claimed not to remember being told about something that serious, he obviously did nothing about it.

MSNBC's Joe Scarborough blasted Sarah Huckabee Sanders and other Republicans as hypocrites for attacking the FBI over its search of Mar-A-Lago.

The Department of Justice carried out a search warrant at Donald Trump's private residence as part of an investigation into stolen classified documents, and the "Morning Joe" host bashed Republican lawmakers who once celebrated the FBI investigation of the Democratic nominee just days before the 2016 election.

"Those people didn't take issue when the FBI was investigating somebody they considered be a political enemy, Hillary Clinton, in October of 2016," Scarborough said. "Eleven days before the presidential election, then-FBI director James Comey announced he was going to reopen an investigation into emails sent by Hillary Clinton using a private server, over this classified document issue. Kevin McCarthy, at that time, attacked Hillary Clinton for her, quote, 'lack of judgment and disregard for protecting our nation's secrets.' You know, he didn't criticize the FBI. [Sen. Ted] Cruz also railed against Clinton, writing things like, "elected officials should be held accountable for criminal conduct, no matter how high their position."

He singled out Sanders for scrutiny, highlighting the difference between her reaction to the Mar-A-Lago search -- which she called a "total abuse of power" -- and her defense of Comey's announcement.

And as of this moment, not a single Trump indictment. No Trump perp walk. No Trump trials. No Trump conviction. No trump penalty.

Now we see that the FBI has raided Trump's home looking for ................ something. It is indeed true that no President or former president has been subjected to such a raid. Not even Nixon. Not Clinton. Not any prior president. Fine. Now, if they were looking for "documents" it doesn't explain why Mar a Lago. The government already collected all the documents from Mar a Lago that they demanded. Trump isn't accused of flushing documents down his GOLDEN toilet at Mar a Lago. So, why this raid? Why now? Inquiring minds want to know.

No matter. Fine. The FBI went through Trump's underwear drawer. What did they find? Did they take anything? If so, what? And why?

We'll never know unless Trump elects to tell us, and some of that even he might not know. Cause this government runs on secrecy in such things. You know, like Nancy Antoinette's star chamber thingy. That you and yours have cheered. Be careful, by the way. That axe can cut both ways.

Now the bottom line is this; Is Trump really this innocent, or are his pursuers really this incompetent?
And even if they indicted Trump today, and convicted him and threw his ass in jail, the facts remain that despite 7 years of concerted effort, bringing the full weight of government to bear on Trump, you haven't gotten much shit for your efforts.
So the answer to the question is; yes.
Trump really is that innocent, and his pursuers really are that incompetent.

What has been accomplished? The despicables have exposed their most vindictive, vengeful, immoral, unethical, lying character for all to see, all just to get a man they despise and who gave them a serious case of butt hurt when he edged the throne out from under Clinton's size 60 ass and put his own ass on it.

If Trump has committed a criminal offense I have no objection to criminal prosecution. But I have zero faith in the feds. They've blatently become a political weapon from the FBI to the IRS to the NSA. Its not about the accountability of criminals its about damaging your political rivals.

Sources told Fox News on Tuesday that investigators from the Justice Departmen t visited Mar-a-Lago in June for a meeting about turning over records as part of an investigation into documents former President Trump allegedly took with him from the White House to his private residence when he left office in January 2021.

Trump's attorneys were present at that meeting and the sources say the former president himself stopped in to say hello for a few minutes.

The meeting came months after the National Archives -- with assistance from the Justice Department -- was able to get 15 boxes of documents sent back to Washington, D.C. after expressing concern they were in Florida.

The June meeting was about additional documents that were being sought. But following it, the Justice Department and FBI felt they weren't getting the same cooperation they had been receiving earlier in the probe, according to a source with knowledge of negotiations between Trump's team and the federal entities.

The perceived lack of cooperation is why a search warrant was requested and ultimately executed on Monday, Aug. 8 at Trump's Palm Beach property.

What was really funny is I was reading @shootersa 's old posts on Hillary's emails at the same time CNN was running what Republican leaders were saying about Hillary's emails back then and the complete opposite they are screaming now about Trump taking boxes of classified material down to Mar a Lago. And it was positively uncanny because in many cases it was almost word for word.
