House Speaker Mike Johnson turned heads on Monday when a website hosting his podcast and church sermons suddenly vanished. Still, Johnson hasn’t been able to completely scrub his prior social media presence, with some evidence of his lectures still floating around online, including a three-hour sermon organized by his wife’s ministry that blasts the newly elected’s Christian fundamentalism.

The contents of his evangelical musings—which he apparently wants to hide—offer revealing details about the little-known congressman, including that he doesn’t really believe in democracy.

“By the way, the United States is not a democracy. Do you know what a democracy is? Two wolves and a sheep deciding what’s for dinner. You don’t want to be in a democracy. Majority rule: not always a good thing,” Johnson said at the First Baptist Church of Haughton, Louisiana, in 2019.


Johnson has also attacked the idea of social services, claiming that the only entity entitled to provide care is the church, not the government.

“I was in South America two weeks ago and they were talking about how … the Catholic Church used to provide soup kitchens and orphanages and do all this stuff and it doesn’t do it anymore and now they’re just willfully, everybody’s willfully, having the civil government take all these responsibilities over. And it’s just a sad development because that’s not how it’s supposed to work,” Johnson said.

In other comments, the Louisiana congressman claimed that the “immigration crisis” is because refugees won’t “assimilate” to the “rule of law”—as in, gaining citizenship—while failing to acknowledge the complicated, lengthy, and expensive process required to become a U.S. citizen. Ultimately, according to Johnson, the failure falls on the refugees’ lack of Christian faith.

“The reason that illegal immigration is such a crisis, such a problem is because you have a lot of God-fearing folks and rule-abiding people who are following the law,” Johnson said, going on to celebrate America’s long history of immigration.

“That’s our origin. But at some point, if the rule of law is eviscerated in that process, the whole system topples. And we’re dangerously close to that right now, because why? We ain’t following the Bible’s rules on this,” Johnson added.

Johnson earned the gavel by a unanimous vote from House Republicans on Wednesday. The resolution came after 22 days of congressional chaos and several failed votes to elect more prominent party members to the role, including Representative Jim Jordan and House Majority Leader Steve Scalise, who failed to unify the party.

First the law. There is no "abortion funding" in the DOD policy Tuberville is blocking promotions for. What he objects to because of his own personal religious beliefs is a DOD policy that reimburses female service members if they have to travel out of state for an abortion. Just like they would reimburse any US military member if they had to travel out of state for any other medical treatment.

So why don't they just change the policy? Because it is fucking insanity to allow one treasonous conservative/America Hating/Republican to dictate DOD policy due to his own personal religious beliefs. There are 100 Senators. Should each and everyone of them be able to hold our troops, military readiness, national defense and national security hostage because they don't like a DOD policy? Would that be putting the country first or just the ego of one Senator?

But one thing for sure. Anytime you see anyone defending that its someone who hates the United States of America and is gives our our enemies he advantage in a very dangerous world in a time of intentional crisis.

• Johnson has an A+ rating from the Susan B. Anthony List, a group that opposes abortion rights. He's co-sponsored federal legislation that would ban abortions after the detection of a fetal heartbeat.

Sexual orientation and gender identity
"Your race, creed, and sex are what you are, while homosexuality and cross-dressing are things you do. This is a free country, but we don't give special protections for every person's bizarre choices," Johnson wrote in 2005, CNN reports.

• In 2022, Johnson introduced federal legislation banning the use of federal funds "to develop, implement, facilitate, or fund any sexually-oriented program, event, or literature for children under the age of 10."

• Sexually-oriented was defined by the bill as "any depiction, description, or simulation of sexual activity, any lewd or lascivious depiction or description of human genitals, or any topic involving gender identity, gender dysphoria, transgenderism, sexual orientation, or related subjects," CNBC noted.

Same sex marriage
"Society cannot give its stamp of approval to such a dangerous lifestyle ... There will be no legal basis to deny a bisexual the right to marry a partner of each sex, or a person to marry his pet," Johnson wrote in 2004, CNN reports.

• In 2022, Johnson opposed the Respect for Marriage Act, which codifies federal recognition of same sex marriage and requires states to respect marriages performed in other states.

Mike Johnson hires ex-Trump official accused of being 'one of the most egregious liars'

Newly minted Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-LA) has tapped a new hire to help run his communications division, Politico reported on Tuesday.

"Speaker Mike Johnson has tapped veteran Republican operative Raj Shah to build and oversee his communications operation, according to a person familiar with the move. Shah is expected to serve as Johnson’s deputy chief of staff for communications, where he will, among other things, help run messaging for House Republicans," reported Alex Isenstadt. "Shah previously spent four years as senior vice president for public affairs at Fox Corporation. Before that, he served as a top communications official in the Trump White House, and was research director at the Republican National Committee during the 2016 campaign."

When Shah worked communications at the White House, he was known for a number of controversies, including his claim that adult film star Stormy Daniels was lying about the alleged hush payment to her from Trump and that "The president is the only one who has been consistent." Trump is now under indictment for that financial arrangement.

More recently, when Shah was working at Fox News, he was caught at the center of the fury surrounding the network's $800 million settlement with Dominion Voting Systems for defamation about their voting equipment, having allegedly helped push the false claims, and left the company shortly after.

"One of Donald Trump's first press hires in the White House and one of the most egregious liars who worked for him," House staffer Aaron Fritschner posted on X. "They don't call this guy 'MAGA Mike' Johnson for nothing folks."

Johnson, who was elected speaker after weeks of chaos that saw extensive GOP infighting and several failed candidates, is a far-right supporter of Trump who had a key role in pushing lies about the 2020 election from Congress.
