Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley called the meeting between President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping “embarrassing.”

The two presidents met in San Francisco for more than four hours Wednesday as Biden sought to establish an agreement regarding disrupting the flow of fentanyl into the United States, in addition to discussions concerning the resumption of military-to-military communication, fentanyl, artificial intelligence, nuclear arms control, trade, and climate.

“How embarrassing this all is,” Haley said of the presidents’ meeting with Fox News host Sean Hannity.

Haley pointed to Biden’s weakness on national security and lack of strength displayed in his meeting with Xi as the U.S. border crisis continues to be a “serious” concern.

“It is really serious that you have just the thousand that we know from Yemen and Lebanon and Iran. That doesn’t count Afghanistan. You are talking about China and Russia,” Haley said. “All it takes is one. It takes one to have a 9/11 moment. We have got to secure this border. You’ve got to stop having that flow come in.”

“You look at the fact that Hamas broke through a barrier to do all that they did in Israel. We don’t even have a barrier,” she continued. “They are coming through, and we are not vetting them. We don’t know who they are. We don’t know what’s happening.”

The former United Nations ambassador warned, “If we don’t start securing and protecting ourselves, something bad’s going to happen.”

“We can’t afford to put Americans at risk, and that’s what Joe Biden’s doing every day,” Haley said. “He’s putting America at risk. A president has one job, and that’s to keep their people safe. And he has not done that.”

Biden told reporters late Wednesday that he and Xi would maintain direct contact in the coming months. He additionally said that he will continue to press Xi on human rights issues and that "being blunt with one another, so there's no misunderstanding,” is "critical" for advancing diplomacy.

Biden and Xi’s meeting comes as congressional Republicans have pressed Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas this week on the influx of illegal immigration at the border as well as the increased flow of fentanyl into the country since he was appointed in 2021.

Since March 2021, the number of immigrants who have arrived at the U.S. border has held at the highest levels in Border Patrol's 99-year existence. Numbers have fluctuated between 160,000 and 270,000 encounters per month. In the decade preceding the Biden administration, monthly encounters remained between 20,000 and 50,000 immigrants.

Report: Border crisis could cost U.S. taxpayers $451 billion

The influx of migrants across the country's southern border could cost taxpayers $451 billion, a report released Monday by the U.S. House Homeland Security Committee says.

The fourth report released by the committee says that the tab includes housing, education, property damage done by migrants, law enforcement and health care costs.

A report from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services showed that "emergency services for undocumented aliens" added up to $7 billion in fiscal 2021 and $5.4 billion in fiscal 2022, with migrants receiving at least $8 billion in improper Medicaid payouts (10% of the nation's total of $80 billion).

Migrants are also putting a strain on the nation's criminal justice infrastructure, with the cost adding up to $8.95 billion in fiscal 2022.

"It is unconscionable for Secretary [Alejandro] Mayorkas and President [Joe] Biden to force the American people to pick up the tab for the crisis their border policies created," Committee Chairman Mark Green, R-Tennessee, said in a news release. "Communities across this country, from the smallest border town to our largest city, are dealing with depleted emergency resources, public housing crises, overwhelmed public-school systems, damaged or destroyed property, and overwhelming law enforcement costs – burdens these hardworking taxpayers were never prepared for, and should not be forced to pay.

"Today’s report outlines the devastating costs of refusing to enforce our nation’s laws and reaffirms the Homeland majority’s urgent demand for Biden and Mayorkas to end the failed policies that are threatening to bankrupt our cities and states."

The Federation for American Immigration Reform estimates that in the 2021-2022 school year, 5.1 million public school students (6.5% of the total) were the children of migrants. Most of them (3.8 million) qualify as limited English proficiency students, costing taxpayers $59 billion, while those not classified as LEP learners costing taxpayers $16.9 billion.

As if New York City didn't have enough problems, Mayor Eric Adams announced a budget Thursday that would require a hiring freeze at the NYPD and deep cuts in education and sanitation. The cuts come because the so-called sanctuary city has had to pay billions to deal with the influx of illegal immigrants due to President Biden's disastrous handling of the southern border.

BREAKING: NYT reports NYC Mayor Eric Adams has announced that due to the financial impact of ongoing migrant arrivals, the city will have to make budget cuts that will reduce NYPD officers to below 30,000 & slash the Education Department by $1 billion, amongst other cuts. He warns more cuts will be necessary unless the city receives more federal money to help with migrant arrivals.

Adams has been a vocal critic of the Biden administration's porous border, so much so that many wonder whether the mayor's recent run-ins with the FBI are a form of payback from Joe and his weaponized Department of Justice. The feds raided his fundraising chief's home in early November, and then on November 10, agents stopped him on the street and demanded he turn over his cellphones and an iPad. They are reportedly investigating whether he colluded with the Turkish government to funnel illegal foreign donations to his campaign account.

The influx of illegals has cost the city billions:

Mayor Eric Adams announced a $110.5 billion budget, saying cuts across all agencies were necessary with the city having spent $1.45 billion in fiscal 2023 on the migrant crisis and nearly $11 billion expected to be spent in 2024 and 2025.

"For months, we have warned New Yorkers about the challenging fiscal situation our city faces," Adams said in a statement. "To balance the budget as the law requires, every city agency dug into their own budget to find savings, with minimal disruption to services.

The NYPD will freeze hiring to bring numbers from 33,000 to below 30,000 by the end of fiscal year 2025, and there will also be steep cuts in education, including the universal pre-kindergarten program, and sanitation.

Adams once again criticized the federal government, saying, "No city should be left to handle a national humanitarian crisis largely on its own, and without the significant and timely support we need from Washington, D.C., today’s budget will be only the beginning."

Cops are already stretched to our breaking point, and these cuts will return us to staffing levels we haven’t seen since the crime epidemic of the ‘80s and ‘90s.

We cannot go back there. We need every level of government to work together to find a way to support police officers and protect New York City’s 30 years of public safety progress.

The New York Post editorial board blasted the move:

Nor would it bring the promised savings: Overtime would have to soar, since any crisis would mean calling in cops from a smaller base.

Plus, as Adams himself put it while running for mayor, “The prerequisite to prosperity is public safety.”

And a more dangerous city is a less prosperous one — Adams is giving every business another reason to flee or just close, and potential new companies a huge reason to open elsewhere; property values will drop, too: This will decimate the tax base.

What is the mayor thinking — that slashing the NYPD is politically easier?

New York has had a hard time of it in recent years, getting smacked by COVID, rising crime, homelessness, and illegal immigration. It's about to get a lot worse.
