Will the real Republican Party in Michigan please stand up!

"You tell me," MSNBC's Rachel Maddow teased on Monday night. "Is there a Republican Party in swing state Michigan? Is there one? Are there two? How do you tell the difference?"

The query echoed Bridge Michigan reporter Jonathan Oosting' Twitter/X post: "It's the tale of two Michigan Republican Parties.... MIGOP.org faction: [Kristina] Karamo still chair despite 'illegitimate meeting.' Real state committee meeting Jan. 13. MI-GOP.org action: Malinda Pego now chair. Karamo ousted. Jan. 13 meeting cancelled."

"If you put a dash between the 'MI' and the 'GOP' at mi-gop.org — you find yourself at a totally different Michigan Republican party website; one where the chair is not Kristina Karamo, but rather this other person, a totally different person.

Whatever the dueling dot-orgs... undisputed is that on Saturday, a whopping 89% of Michigan Republicans voted to remove election denier and state GOP Chairwoman Kristina Karamo, ending calls for her resignation by many in her party, which has been inundated by financial woes and infighting. In fact, as of December, the party was "on the brink of bankruptcy."

The meeting wasn't attended by Karamo.

Enter Maddow, who, like Oosting, was puzzled by the dueling GOPs.

"Each of these totally different websites with totally different chairs says literally, 'Paid for by the Michigan Republican party, but they appear to be two different unrelated things with two different people in charge."

The "MIGOP.org" features a ticker on top that reads: "A small fringe faction of State Committee members staged an illegitimate gathering to claim removal of Chairwoman Kristina Karamo."

It then jumps to a press release called the meeting a "rogue cabal" that "called today's bogus gathering a preemptive ploy to illegally remove the chair, and many other State Committee members."

It added: "This entire process is illegitimate according to the rules of the Michigan Republican Party bylaws and is illegal based on Michigan election laws."

It also included a video of the general counsel, facing the camera saying, "Hi, my name is Dan Hartman. I am still the general counsel for the Michigan Republican Party."

The rival site, MI-GOP.org" features a static page with a picture of Interim Chair Malinda Lego with Stars and Stripes in the background.

It discussed the process to "remove former Chairwoman Kristina Karamo and former General Counsel [Hartman]."

It ended with a turn to the future: "Now is the time to unify Republicans and grow our voter base to win elections throughout our state in 2024 and beyond."

'Not to be taken lightly': Lawyer who ditched Trump says ex-president could be convicted

Donald Trump is facing serious cases from legitimate prosecutors who could end up getting a conviction against the former president, according to Joe Tacopina, who recently left Trump's legal team.

Tacopina, who earlier in the Saturday MSNBC interview opened up about his reasoning for leaving Team Trump, was also asked about which case against his former client could possibly go the distance. Tacopina seemed to think that the federal cases are more worrisome for Trump than the two local criminal cases.

"The two federal cases are serious cases. I think they are not to be taken lightly. Let's put it that way," Tacopina said, before the host Al Sharpton asked him if a conviction is possible.

"Is it possible? Absolutely," Tacopina said. "You have a jury of 12 who is ultimately going to decide this. Jack Smith is a federal prosecutor who I knew from his days in Brooklyn. That's a serious prosecutor. These are federal cases, and you have a jury."

Tacopina went on to say Trump was indicted by grand juries and will likely face trials in unfriendly territories.

"That's going to be something to really have to grapple with there," he said. "You can't say there's no way he will get convicted, there is no way he will be sentenced."

So as it turns out, Tacopina was butt hurt when he got yanked off of the criminal cases against trump and dropped down to the civil cases. He decided to jump ship and is now working for Al Sharpton's National Action Network (.43 in american hater's video).

It's quite possible that Tacopina has been hired by Sharpton to be available to deal with Sharpton's tax problems; at one point he was rumored to owe the IRS over $5 MILLION in back taxes, and Sharpton's half brother recently pled guilty to federal tax evasion, mail fraud, and drug conspiracy charges.

Those curious should watch the entire show. Tacopina also offers up some interesting insight on the two cases against Trump that he says are unwinnable, and much later casts doubt on the other two cases.

MSNBC's Joe Scarborough has been sounding the alarm that Donald Trump appears to be mentally unwell, and he said evidence of that concern spills out daily.

The former president delivered an addled and rambling speech Monday night in New Hampshire, where he attempted to describe a missile defense system using "ding-ding-boom" sound effects and casually praised Hungarian autocrat Viktor Orbán, and the "Morning Joe" host was alarmed by the spectacle.

"He can't even say the simplest of sentences anymore," Scarborough said. "That's so terrible, everything about it is so terrible. He praises, of course, Viktor Orbán. It's not that the press goes crazy, it's that the world sees Viktor Orbán is, like, isolated because he is so extreme. He hates American democracy, western democracy – he said it. Viktor Orbán has said he hates American democracy, he hates western democracy. He brags about being illiberal, he shuts down the press, he shuts down political opponents. Donald Trump praises that."

"Then Donald Trump goes, bing-bang-bong, something like that, because he is not well," Scarborough added. "Then he lies, he lies about the men and women of the armed forces and says, 'We can't do this, can't do that, and we're weak.' We've been saying here on 'Morning Joe' since 2008, if you like China so much, move there. The United States is going to still have the most powerful economy. We do, sitting at $25 trillion, China is at $18 trillion."

One of the things that makes Rachel Maddow the best on TV is her ability to turn a phrase and make t stick. Most the broadcast networks have learned their lessons about not covering Trump's speeches and allowing him to just stand there and tell the same lies over and over and over again. Some of them actually tried to fact check Trump in real time but Trump lies faster than they can fact check him. So now most networks either don't cover his speeches or only cover little pieces of them.

But why? All Trump has ever done is lie pathologically. It is part of his mental illness. News media let him lie all through the 2016 campaign and for all his four years in office. And more often than not even fact check his lies. But after J6 news media finally saw and more importantly admitted how dangerous Trump and his lies are. But it took Maddow to put a label on it and its something we see here on our little forum all day every day from the treasonous conservative/America Hating/Republicans. It is "reality bullying.”

And what a perfect name for it. That's what we see here all day every day from the treasonous conservative/America Hating/Republicans. Just telling the same lies over and over and over again trying to bully reality out of the way complete with personal attacks and name calling. And that cannot be tolerated. Reality is a very real thing and essential to human existence. We cannot allow treasonous conservative/America Hating/Republican Traitor Trump cult followers to bully reality out of the way. And especially when they don't believe their non-fucking lies themselves. They know better. There is just far too much undeniable proof. MSNBC’s leaving the page." data-wf-tooltip-position="bottom">Rachel Maddow pulled the plug twice on Donald Trump’s speech following his victory in the New Hampshire Republican primary on Tuesday.

Before Trump began his venom and falsehood-filled address, Maddow explained that the network’s decision to broadcast the serial liar’s comments live was constantly under review.

She then cut to Trump, who soon falsely claimed he’d won New Hampshire in the 2016 and 2020 presidential elections.

“This is part of the issue here,” said Maddow, interrupting the feed.

It’s not true, Maddow explained, because Trump lost the state to Hillary Clinton in 2016 and Joe Biden in 2020.

“We’ll try again, though,” Maddow said, returning to Trump’s comments.

But she was soon back on the screen as Trump repeated his election untruths.

Maddow called it “an unusual victory speech” and said Trump’s comments were “a form of reality bullying” in which he tries to bend reality to his will and force supporters to “reject reality” and endorse him too.

“Guys. I mean, are you all OK?” asked the former Biden White House press secretary.

“Seriously,” she added. “Take a walk, shake it off, as she would say.”

Psaki examined growing conservative outrage over Swift’s political pronouncements in recent years, from her public endorsement of Democratic candidates in the 2018 midterms to her backing of Joe Biden against former President Donald Trump in 2020.

Swift has also advocated for LGBTQ+ rights and shared her concerns following the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe V. Wade, said Psaki.

But it’s “not like she’s some sort of rabid Democratic activist,” she said.

Right-wing pearl-clutching over Swift intensified amid her relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and her naming as Time magazine’s 2023 “Person of the Year,” said Psaki.

Conservative commentators have cooked up conspiracy theories that Swift is an operative for the Democrats whose popularity will somehow end up handing Biden the 2024 election over likely rival Trump, who despite facing multiple criminal cases remains the Republican front-runner.

Swift has “unbelievable influence,” acknowledged Psaki. But the right is making it “super super weird” by claiming it’s some kind of intricate conspiracy, she said.

‘Morning Joe’ Says Donald Trump Wants to ‘Keep the Border Open’ for ‘Nakedly Cynical’ Political Reasons

Now that Congress seems at least willing to throw money at the southern border following three years of unchecked migration, MSNBC’s “ leaving the page." data-wf-tooltip-position="bottom">Morning Joe” crew says Donald Trump and House Republican leaders are actively trying to thwart any potential legislation in the name of “nakedly cynical” politics.

Host Joe Scarborough noted early Monday that a “bipartisan group of senators is continuing to inch closer to a deal on border security and foreign aid after months of negotiations.” He also noted that House Speaker Mike Johnson criticized the bill, saying President Biden already has the authority to take action on border security.

“That is his new excuse to stab Ukraine in the back and let fentanyl flood across the border,” Scarborough said.

Congressional leaders, Democrats in particular, have insisted that continued funding for Ukraine’s war with Russia be included in a border security measure. The border bill, a draft of which was expected in the coming days, would fund more patrol agents, asylum officers, detention facilities and deportation efforts; it would also speed up the asylum process but does not have an amnesty component.

“Morning Joe” also played a clip of Trump speaking publicly about the still-under-wraps proposal, saying: “We want either a strong bill or no bill, and whatever happens, happens. But this is the single greatest threat to our country right now.”

“Well … that’s what Republicans have been saying,” Scarborough said. “‘The border crossings!’ Yet, Donald Trump is saying, ‘Keep the border open. Keep it open for another year. Don’t do any deal.'”

Scarborough said the bill, as reported, would be “the toughest border security deal ever. Yet Trump is opposing the conservative deal, just like he hopes the economy crashes, as he said, because he wants there to be a depression before he is president.”

The MSNBC crew earlier this month slammed a Trump interview in which the former president openly hoped that an economic crash would come before the November election “because I don’t want to be Herbert Hoover.”

“It is some of the most nakedly cynical politics we have ever seen,” said co-host Jonathan Lemire said Monday. “Donald Trump is actively rooting against the country for his own political benefit, whether it be about the economy, certainly here at the border.”

The reality is just too big and obvious to be bullied. First the treasonous conservative/America Hating/Republicans say they will not provide funds for Israel and Ukraine unless it is tied to policies and laws on immigration. That was a really chickenshit move putting Ukraine and Israel at risk but President Biden and the Democrats sit down and go to work trying to hammer out a compromise. And it was actually the left, and especially progressives, that were screaming their heads off about it saying President Biden and the Democrats were going too far and giving up too much to the treasonous conservative/America Hating/Republicans. And it really showed up with President Biden taking another hit on his approval rating.

But then when President Biden and the Democrats actually reach a compromise giving the treasonous conservative/America Hating/Republicans everything they said they wanted suddenly Trump says don't do it that will give President Biden a win and I want to campaign on the border and they then refuse to take yes for an answer.

And the whole country can see the last thing Trump and treasonous conservative/America Hating/Republicans want to do is anything that might actually help solve the problem. They are the ones who want open borders just so they can scram about the Black and Brown people trying to come in and fentanyl killing Americans.

 

The desperation to somehow pin the invasion biden invited on deplorables is palpable.

Panelists on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" recoiled from a video montage of Donald Trump's gaffes in public remarks.

President Joe Biden's campaign has highlighted the ex-president's gaffes and missteps in campaign ads featuring criticism by Republican challenger Nikki Haley, and co-hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski were amazed.

Among other things, the ad highlighted Trump repeatedly confusing GOP rival Nikki Haley for former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA); declaring that "we are an institute in a powerful death penalty"; falsely claims about winning "50 states" in a presidential election; and claims that Americans need to present identification to buy a loaf of bread.

"Wow," Scarborough said after watching the montage. "You need ID to buy a loaf of bread? He's going on and on, what is that, we are a very powerful institute death penalty?"

"Oh, wow," Brzezinski agreed.

"He famously won all 50 states in 2016, as he said," added co-host Willie Geist. "Yeah, I mean, I'm watching – I think George W. Bush has been be going, you made fun of me? What about this?
