Trump Lawyer Alina Habba Confronted By Fox’s Martha MacCallum Over Trump Falling Asleep In Court ‘Both Days’
    Tommy ChristopherApr 17th, 2024, 12:10 pm

Fox News anchor Martha MacCallum got an unusual response when she asked Trump lawyer Alina Habba if former President Donald Trump fell asleep in court two days in a row.

Trump’s hush money-election interference trial got off to an embarrassing start Monday when CNN commentator and New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman became the first to report that Trump fell asleep in the courtroom. The incident became the subject of banter and mockery all over the news — and from the Biden campaign.

Then, he did it again on Tuesday.

On Tuesday’s edition of Fox News Channel’s The Story with Martha MacCallum, MacCallum interviewed Habba about the trial, and elicited the obligatory comparison of Trump to Nelson Mandela along the way.

MacCallum followed up that exchange by confronting Habba with the reports of Trump nodding off in court. Habba — who is currently part of Trump’s legal team — fell well short of flatly denying the reports.

Instead, she led off by saying Trump was “probably brutally bored.”

Habba called the claims “unlikely” because she’s never personally seen him fall asleep in court:

MARTHA MACCALLUM: I just have a second. But, you know, there are two reports, both days, of him falling asleep in court. Any reaction to that, is he tired as you just been running around a lot or and any thoughts on that?

ALINA HABBA: If anything, he’s probably brutally bored. I mean he, it’s it’s painful. They make him sit there through jury selection. The first day was procedural.

But no, you know, I’ve heard that report. It’s unlikely. I know him. I sat through trial after trial with him. That never happens. So, President Trump is is incredibly focused.

MARTHA MACCALLUM: All right, Alina, thank you as always. Great to have you here, Alina Habba.

Direct line drawn between Fox News broadcast and Trump juror's dismissal

    Brad Reed
    April 18, 2024 12:14PM ET

"Juror No. 2" in the Trump hush-money trial was dismissed on Thursday after she raised concerns that her identity might have already been compromised.

Washington Post reporter Aaron Blake immediately drew a line between her dismissal and a Tuesday night segment on Fox News in which host Jesse Watters broadcast some personal details about the jurors, whose names are being not identified publicly.

"Fox News host Jesse Watters on Tuesday broadcast extensive biographical details about Juror No. 2 — her neighborhood, occupation, education, marital and family status, and what industry her fiancé works in," Blake writes on Twitter.

"He concluded by saying, 'I'm not so sure about Juror No. 2.'"

This juror that Watters said he wasn't "so sure about" was the same one who was dismissed Thursday after expressing concerns about being identified.

ALSO READ: From 'really rich' to begging: Inside Trump's U-turn on one of his first campaign lies

Watters followed up his segment on Wednesday by declaring, without providing any evidence, that "undercover liberal activists" were "lying" about their feelings about former President Donald Trump to get on the jury and convict him no matter the evidence.

Trump would subsequently promote these claims on his Truth Social page, which would lead to immediate accusations of him violating a gag order that prevented him from talking about jurors in the trial.

Trump has continuously pushed the limits when it comes to his gag order and prosecutors with Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's office on Thursday accused him of violating it in seven separate instances since the hearing started on Monday, including with direct attacks on witnesses in the case such as former "fixer" Michael Cohen.

So far, however, Judge Juan Merchan has not hit Trump with any punishments for prospective gag order violations, although he did reprimand Trump for interacting with a prospective juror while in court on Tuesday. A hearing concerning gag order violations is scheduled for April 23.

The bigger question is how the information went from being a sidebar discussion between the judge, the persecutor and the defense lawyers.
Sidebar discussions are not public record.

I suspect MTG is going to have to chicken out and not file her motion to vacate and fire Mike Johnson as Speaker. I don't think she can take the heart. She's not used to anything like this. She gets her celebrity by saying outrageous things no one on the right challenges her over. But because MTG is stupid, ignorant, and mentally ill she can't actually even think let alone defend what she is saying and doing. So when a friendly news network like Fox turns on her she has no idea what to do, And if you look around right wing false propaganda noise machine channels and the internet they are obviously putting on a full court press to try and make MTG back off. The last thing they want is to have another Speaker debacle and especially not with the peril of going through the chaos just to have the Democrats bail Johnson out and save his job. If that happens Johnson is damaged goods from now on.

‘You Didn’t Give Me a Plan!’ MTG Called Out By Fox’s Maria Bartiromo for Dodging Questions on How She Plans to Oust Speaker Johnson

    Joe DePaoloApr 21st, 2024, 11:29 am

Fox News anchor Maria Bartiromo called out Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) for not voicing a clear strategy on ousting Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) or presenting a clear alternative to the current circumstances.

In an interview on Fox’s Sunday Morning Futures, Bartiromo confronted Greene over the criticism she has received from many on both the left and the right over her repeated threats to oust the speaker.

“You’re getting criticized on the left, on the right, in the media … a lot of people are criticizing you,” Bartiromo said. “And the reason that they are is because they’re saying that you’re creating drama during this election year. How is this leading to reelecting President Trump? How is this leading to the American people believing that the Republicans can govern? People are saying, ‘Look, she’s creating chaos. She’s making the entire party look like it’s disrupted.’ Your reaction and response to those criticisms?”

“Those that are calling this drama are the very people that are responsible for the drama that the American people are having to live through every single day,” Greene replied. “Those on the left, those on the right, the uniparty that’s in control of our government are the ones that have inflicted the American people with nearly $35 trillion in debt, ripped our border wide open.”

Greene, notably, has received intense criticism in recent days from Fox News, as well as the New York Post. On Wednesday, FoxNews.com published an op-ed titled “Marjorie Taylor Greene is an Idiot,” and on Sunday, a New York Post headline denounced the Georgia congresswoman as “Moscow Marjorie.”

After a brief commercial break, Bartiromo pressed Greene to come up with an actual solution.

“OK Congresswoman, you wanted Mike Johnson out,” Bartiromo said. “What is your alternative plan?”

Here was Greene’s response in full:

“Our plan is this: We have to give the American people a reason to trust us and fight for us. The American people are supporting President Trump to be the next President of the United States because they’ve seen him in action. He fought against the Democrat agenda. He put America first. They desperately want him to lead this country again because they trust him and they know he will do that.

“Mike Johnson has betrayed America. He’s betrayed Republican voters. Under his leadership, he’s passed the Democrat agenda, passed the Biden administration’s policies, and fully funded them. We’re going to fight in Congress to do everything we can to stop this type of uniparty leadership. Mike Johnson’s speakership is over. He needs to do the right thing to resign and allow us to move forward in a controlled process. If he doesn’t do so, he will be vacated.”

But Bartiromo called her out for dodging.

“With all due respect, you didn’t give me a plan for the speaker’s role,” Bartiromo said. “And again, does this mean you are going to file that motion at some point?”

Greene again refused to voice any kind of plan and simply reiterated her vow to remove Johnson.

“It’s coming, regardless of what Mike Johnson decides to do,” Greene said. “And we have three more Republicans joining us for the special elections coming up very soon. So people need to know this can happen.”

'You make it sound bad': Fox News host taken aback by 'disturbing' legal news for Trump

    David Edwards

    Fox News/screen grab

Fox News legal analyst Andy McCarthy told host Howard Kurtz that he found legal developments in Donald Trump's hush money trial "very disturbing" for the former president.

On the Fox News Media Buzz program Sunday, Kurtz asked McCarthy about defense attorney Emil Bove's strategy of cross-examining former National Enquirer publisher David Pecker in the Manhattan trial. Pecker testified that he ran a so-called "catch-and-kill" scheme to scuttle negative stories about Trump.

"In the hush money case, is Donald Trump's lawyer helping or hurting the case by the way that he cross-examined the Enquirer's David Pecker, especially on the hush money payments to the former Playboy model, Karen McDougal?" Kurtz wondered.

McCarthy said Trump's lawyer was in a "hard spot" because of Justice Juan Merchan's rulings.

"But I also think that if you're going to take the position that the hush money payments, which are really non-disclosure agreements that are a staple of civil litigation and settlements in the United States, if your position is that those are lawful, it doesn't make sense to me to cross-examine Pecker in a way that tries to distance Trump from those agreements," McCarthy explained. "I think you shouldn't worry about them if they're lawful."

ALSO READ: Former FBI official accuses Marjorie Taylor Greene of spreading foreign propaganda

The attorney continued: "And the other thing that's happening in there, Howie, that is very disturbing, is the judge is letting a lot of evidence in about the belief of Pecker, and I'm sure this will be with Michael Cohen as well, that they violated the federal campaign laws because the state is teeing this up as a conspiracy to violate those laws, even though that's not the charge of the indictment."

"So you make it sound bad, and you take it seriously, but maybe that's not such a good idea," Kurtz reacted.

It will be interesting to see how Fox handles this. I said earlier on one thread that Fox would be loath to make any on air retraction and apology and would probably resist until they finally just settled with Hunter. But then I also just posted a story about OAN making a groveling retraction and apology over a story they ran about Micheal Cohen co I could b e wrong about Fox.

Hunter Biden demands that Fox News remove ‘intimate’ images from its platforms

leaving the page." data-wf-tooltip-position="bottom" data-wf-reset-every="90">Hunter Biden is demanding that Fox News remove from its platforms sexually explicit images that President Joe Biden’s son says are private, according to a letter obtained by CNN, as part of his strategy to publicly fight back against conservative media.

The letter sent by attorneys for Hunter Biden to Fox News and FOX Corp. alleges conspiracy to defame and unlawful publication of “hacked” images, seeking corrections and retractions on air and in online articles to claims that President Biden and his son engaged in a bribery scheme abroad.

Hunter Biden’s legal team has undertaken an aggressive legal and public relations strategy for several months. His lawyers have fired off letters demanding investigations into Hunter Biden’s opponents and filed a series of lawsuits against his detractors. Hunter Biden’s lawyers say they “anticipate” suing Fox but have not yet done so.

This stepped-up strategy by Hunter Biden to defend himself against the onslaught of attacks initially stoked anxiety among some of President Biden’s political advisers. But the president has publicly defended his son, who separately faces gun and tax charges in Delaware and California. Hunter Biden has pleaded not guilty to those criminal charges.

CNN has reached out to Fox News for comment on the letter.

The media outlet aired a mock trial of Hunter Biden on the streaming platform Fox Nation in 2022, focused on the unproven bribery allegations, and published “intimate images of Mr. Biden depicting him in the nude as well as engaged in sex acts,” according to the letter, which demands that Fox immediately remove the series from all streaming platforms.

“FOX knows that these private and confidential images were hacked, stolen, and/or manipulated digital material,” Hunter Biden’s attorneys wrote in the letter, which contained several of the explicit images, some of which were blurred.

Publishing these images, the attorneys said, violated “the majority of states’ laws against the nonconsensual disclosure of sexually explicit images and videos, sometimes referred to as ‘revenge porn’ laws.”

Hunter Biden’s attorneys also take issue with Fox News publishing several articles on the bribery allegations, citing an FBI informant who was recently indicted for allegedly lying to investigators about Hunter Biden and the bribery plot.

The informant, Alexander Smirnov, has pleaded not guilty to the charges and is set to face trial in December.

Attorneys for the president’s son allege that Fox News “initially remained silent” on news of Smirnov’s indictment “despite the fact that this now rendered the prior reporting on these allegations highly misleading.”

“Then, in a brazen show of no remorse, rather than walk back the story and correct the record, FOX double-downed on the debunked bribery allegation and used Smirnov’s indictment to claim this is an ‘intimidation tactic’ aimed at silencing ‘whistleblowers,’ to blame the FBI for its credulity, and to suggest an even deeper conspiracy,” the letter alleges.

The letter demands Fox News issue editor’s notes to online articles “informing readers of the indictment” and have several prominent Fox News hosts including Sean Hannity, Maria Bartiromo and Jesse Watters “inform their viewers on air that they have been sharing a debunked allegation from a source who has been federally indicted.”

The bribery allegations have been central to the GOP’s impeachment inquiry into President Biden. CNN has reported that Republican lawmakers don’t have the votes to impeach him.

Fox News 'quietly scrubbed' Hunter Biden 'mock trial' series after lawsuit threat: report

Attorneys representing Hunter Biden this week sent a letter to Fox News demanding that it retract various stories that accused him of taking illegal bribes or that published sexually explicit photos of him that were discovered on his laptop computer.

Now The Daily Beast reports that Fox has "quietly scrubbed" a Hunter Biden "mock trial" series from its Fox Nation streaming service that Biden's attorneys had cited in their letter to the network as defamatory.

"The network has quietly pulled down its six-part 'mock trial' series from its digital streaming service Fox Nation after lawyers for the presidential scion warned the network of their intention to sue for defamation," reports The Daily Beast. "Besides quietly taking down The Trial of Hunter Biden from its streamer, the network also deleted a promotional video promising Fox News viewers an “inside look” at the “mock trial,” which was presided over by former reality-TV star Judge Joe Brown."

In a statement made to The Daily Beast, a Fox News spokesperson said that the network had decided to take down the content out of an "abundance of caution" and emphasized that it was "reviewing the concerns that have just been raised" by Biden's attorneys.

ALSO READ: How Trump could run for president from jail

Fox is still defending its coverage of the president's son overall, however.

"Hunter Biden’s lawyers have belatedly chosen to publicly attack Fox News’ constitutionally protected coverage regarding their client," the network said. "Mr. Biden is a public figure who has been the subject of investigations by both the Department of Justice and Congress, has been indicted by two different US Attorney’s Offices in California and Delaware, and has admitted to multiple incidents of wrongdoing. Consistent with the First Amendment, Fox News has accurately covered these highly publicized events as well as the subsequent indictment of an FBI informant who was the source of certain claims made about Mr. Biden.”

Fox News got itself in serious trouble when it uncritically aired false allegations against Dominion Voting Systems after the 2020 election that were concocted by a woman from Minnesota who believes she can speak with the wind.

This wound up costing Fox dearly, as last year it agreed to settle the Dominion lawsuit for $787 million.

Fox Business panel tears into 'hideous' Kristi Noem: 'There's no going back from this'

    Fox Business/screen grab

A panel of guests on Fox Business condemned South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem (R) after she admitted killing a 14-month-old puppy in a recent book.

Fox Business guest host Ashley Webster noted Monday that Noem had doubled down by defending herself on social media.

"What a terrible idea," Webster said. "Whoever came up with, yeah, put that story in, Kristi, people will love it."

Conservative pundit Joe Concha tore into Noem.

"This story, Ashley, as a dog owner my whole life, absolutely makes my blood boil on two levels," he remarked. "How utterly heartless do you have to be to shoot a 14-month-old dog in the face?"

"I can guarantee you many people would have raised their hand to take that dog in," he observed. "You just don't go ahead and murder it."

Concha insisted that Noem had "destroyed" any chance of being Donald Trump's vice presidential running mate.

ALSO READ: Mike Pence: latest presidential campaign deadbeat?

"There's no going back from this," he said. "I'm sorry. You don't shoot dogs in the face. I don't care what they've done."

Former Republican lawmaker Jason Chaffetz agreed.

"So I give her an A+ for being honest about it," he said. "But she just destroyed her political career."

"I don't think there's anybody on any side of the aisle, any human being that thinks it's acceptable to go to a gravel pit and shoot a dog in the face and kill it when it's 14 months old," he added. "I mean, that's just hideous. So she's done politically."

I’ll eat the goat. You eat the puppy. A domestic goat isn’t game, it’s livestock.
If you waste the goat by letting rot it was most likely just another pet you’ve killed.

GOP lawmaker 'agrees to disagree' as Fox News host confronts her latest conspiracy theory

Rep. Nancy Mace (Tom Williams/CQ-Roll Call, Inc via Getty Images)

Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) insisted on Fox News Friday, during a segment opposing the latest round of student loan forgiveness from the Biden administration, that the campus protesters are backed by a Hungarian-born Jewish billionaire philanthropist — and completely deflected when host Neil Cavuto asked her for any evidence of this.

"You've got groups that are funded by George Soros that are Palestinian rights groups that are involved, funded by George Soros, and they need to be off our college campuses if they're committing violence, full stop," said Mace.

"All right, there's no proof that these are funded by George Soros, by the way, and their folks have denied that," said Cavuto. "But we'll see exactly where all this money is coming from."

"We'll agree to disagree, I guess," said Mace, who is one of the small handful of lawmakers who voted to oust former Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) from the House speakership, and who has recently come under fire for allegedly ordering her staffers to give her as much TV exposure as possible to promote a "celebrity status" for herself.

Soros is a frequent target of conspiracy theories from Republicans, due to his heavy investment of his wealth into progressive causes and pro-democracy movements around the world. Many of the claims against him hinge on antisemitic conspiracy theories of him as a puppet master of media and protests, with some people even alleging he collaborated with Nazi Germany, despite him being a Holocaust survivor.

Former President Donald Trump, for his part, has accused the prosecutor behind his criminal case in Manhattan of being "hand picked and funded by George Soros," which is not true. Ironically, Trump himself recently held a campaign fundraiser co-hosted by a man who ran Soros Fund Management for years.

'Not your show': Fox's Hannity mocked for demanding CNN not be allowed to fact-check Trump

Fox News' Sean Hannity has a particular demand for how the upcoming CNN-hosted debate between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump in June should be handled: moderators shouldn't be allowed to fact-check Trump during answer blocks.

"I would add that moderators' mics, they need to be muted also after a question," said Hannity. "Why? Because it's obvious. The liberal media, they'd love to be two on one versus Donald Trump. No, that can't happen. Nor should networks be allowed to put anything on the screen but the names of the candidates."

The right-wing host was swiftly mocked by commenters on social media for his demands for how the debate format should work — with many noting that this would essentially just be a free pass for Trump to steamroll over everything and not answer questions.

"The crybaby excuses have started even faster than usual," said former Republican strategist Ron Filipkowski. "If you cut moderator mics then Trump won’t answer a single question. He instantly changes the subject on every mildly substantive question from right-wing hacks."

"This is not your show, Hannibal," wrote the account @VoteDemocracy24.

"Don’t you dare ask follow-ups or fact-check, losers," wrote the account @MaTTFLaMMaBLe.

"We all know Hannity wouldn’t agree to having his mic muted if he was moderating a debate," wrote the account "Cryptid Politics," which identifies as supportive of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, an unsuccessful challenger to the 2024 GOP nomination. "It would kill any opportunities for him to interrupt, and we know he loves to do that."

"Ha ha they don't want fact checkers and they want moderators mics muted after question," wrote the account @PrincessBravato. "Already finding an out."

"Hell, no. Open mics, open dialogue, no special conditions to protect Trump," wrote the account @Sancho1549. "President Biden will wipe the floor with The criminal Trump."

The debates are a waste of time.
First, we already know that the left will do whatever it takes to tilt the field to brandon's favor.
That isn't even a point that needs discussion. It's what the fuckers do.
Second, no matter what brandon manages to fuck up, it won't change any liberal minds about putting brandon back in office.
Brandon could shit right on stage, attack trump, go on a sniffing rampage, and ask a tweenie in the audience if she'd like to shower with him, and the leftists would still vote for brandon.
That's how deep their hate of trump runs.
Plus, they already put the fix in for 2024 so trump loses.

Now to be fair, it's hard to imaging what trump could do that would change votes.
It's not that trump is all that and a bag of chips.
It's that the alternative to trump is ............... well, it's enough to make an American patriot throw up a bit.

So no, the debates won't do anything productive.
Give the media and the pundits fodder for their productions is about all.
And we'll see a lot more copy N paste jobs from american hater with his wrong story bullshit.
