NorCal is hosting four NCAA games this weekend in our new arena, the Golden 1 Center. We haven't hosted in years because of our old arena was crap and we didn't have a lot of downtown lodging for such an event. Thankfully the new arena is revitalizing the downtown area.
Unfortunately I won't be going.

 

The Kings have a nice new home to play in too. You could alway try to sneak into one of the 34 luxury suites rix, lol. Just flash those puppy dog eyes, I'm sure somebody will let you in.

I have been to the Staples Center a bunch of times and might have to check yours out one day.

Isn't our fiesty feline from there too ???

Did you buy any of the bonds the city sold to help pay for it ???

 

The Zag's take on Northwestern Saturday and that will be interesting . Gonzago had better pick it up a notch with Northwestern still on a first ever win high !
Michigan beat Oklahoma State this morning and Baylor beat NM State already this morning . I am watching Oregon and Iona still in the 1st half , Oregon leads by 17 .

Defending champs are done. Badgers take out Villanova!

 

Damn ... Wisconsin beat Villanova 65-62 earlier today.

West Virginia beat Notre Dame 83-71 as well.

Xavier is up by 10 on Florida State early in the second half and Gonzaga is up by 6 on Northwestern with 30 seconds left.

Butler is up by 9 on Middle TN early in the 1st.

So Northwestern's Cinderella season comes to an end as Gonzaga goes on to win 79-73 and advances to the sweet sixteen. This was Mark Few's 500th win, the 3rd fastest man to get to that milestone in NCAA history.

Now it gets real as Gonzaga faces West Virginia next ...

 

Not to be biased, the women are also playing in Lexington, Bridgeport, Oklahoma City and Stockton. Here are how things look on day 2 there with 16 games to finish off the 1st round. I will post the other 16 game scores from yesterday shortly.

Oops I deleted todays scores so here they are and some games are finals. I would be really shocked if UConn doesn't take the whole thing again for the 5th year in a row.

 

Xavier beat Florida State 91-66 just a few minutes ago And St Mary's is up by 4 early in the first half.

Butler is still up by 10 early in the 2nd half.

 

That's another thing that sucks about the American networks, they have to pre-empt shows for the coverage where here we aren't bound by those limitations and we get to see all of the programming from CBS without that pre-empting. We are free to buy any show we want and as such our networks at times have shows from all of the US networks on one channel. Each network here picks and chooses from US programming.

We are also the only country in the world that has "non scrambled" access to all US networks and at times we show American programs before they are broadcast in the USA.

 

The Gonzaga Northwestern game was bittersweet but not a disappointment for us in the inland northwest as Gonzaga has a proven track record to stand a better chance as the competition gets greater in the sweet 16 . Northwestern will only get better with this experience under their belt even though they played local competition . Well done Zag's and good luck moving forward .
The Villanova loss was a surprise though .

Kansas is up by 8 on Michigan State nearing the half.

 

Michigan's coach did a great job...I hate Kentucky, was hoping for a "shocker" from Wich St.

 

I was looking forward to a few more "buzzer beaters" myself.

 

It is a foregone conclusion that on the women's side that UConn will take the whole shooting match again so I am not goibng to bother leading up to it with updates, plus no one cares anyway lol.
