    vote Democrat.

    On several occasions I have pointed out, documenting my factual assertions as usual, that under Democrat administrations there have been more growth in the per capita gross domestic product, in constant dollars,

    http://www.singularity.com/charts/page99.html

    more growth in the job market,

    http://blogs.wsj.com/economics/2009/01/09/bush-on-jobs-the-worst-track-record-on-record/

    and more growth in the stock market.

    http://blogs.wsj.com/marketbeat/2012/11/06/what-an-obama-win-may-mean-for-stocks/

    In addition, recessions have usually begun under Republican administrations. They have frequently ended under Democrat administrations.

    http://www.nber.org/cycles.html

    Recently, I found an article on the Forbes website that made similar assertions. Forbes is owned by Steve Forbes. He ran in the Republican presidential primary in 1996 and 2000. The magazine calls itself "the capitalist tool."

    I would like to post a link to the article. Unfortunately, the webpage sometimes includes an advertisement that includes photographs of children. Fortunately, I have found the article elsewhere. You can find it here:

    http://adamhartung.com/beyond-the-debate-common-economic-misconceptions-vs-reality/

    The article is by Adam Hartung. It is a review of a book by Bob Deitrick and Lew Godlfarb, entitled Bulls, Bears, and the Ballot Box.

    The assertions in the book are well documented. I assume editors of Forbes have fact checked the assertions made by Adam Hartung.

    The book can be found on Amazon.

    It makes these assertions:

    "Personal disposable income has grown nearly 6 times more under Democratic presidents;

    Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has grown 7 times more under Democratic presidents;

    Corporate profits have grown over 16% more per year under Democratic presidents (they actually declined under Republicans by an average of 4.53%/year);

    Average annual compound return on the stock market has been 18 times greater under Democratic presidents (If you invested $100k for 40 years of Republican administrations you had $126k at the end, if you invested $100k for 40 years of Democrat administrations you had $3.9M at the end);

    Republican presidents added 2.5 times more to the national debt than Democratic presidents;

    The two times the economy steered into the ditch (Great Depression and Great Recession) were during Republican, laissez faire administrations."

    Bob Deitrick and Lew Godlfarb attribute better economic performance under Democrat administrations to, "the velocity of money and how that changes as wealth moves between different economic classes...Economic disaster happens in America when wealth is concentrated at the top, and we are at an all time high for wealth concentration."

    I know my factual opinions doesn't hit the spot you want, but just the way the title was written i figured it begged a response from me.

    I do not wish to live like a republican. I cannot be that low down, evil, inhumane, and greedy. On the other hand i do not wish to live like s democrat because what i work for is mine and i want to keep it. I don't want to steal from everyone, i don't want people that know nothing about me trying to control every move i make, and lastly i do not want to give up half of my income to support a bunch of lazy, rioting, murdering, and racist thugs..

    What do i want to live like? I thought you would never ask...... I want to live like ME. I want to live freely to do as i please, be left the hell alone completely , and have as little to do with other people as possible.

    About five percent of tax money goes to programs like Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (which I have expressed my opposition to) and Section 8 Housing.

    http://www.huppi.com/kangaroo/L-runawaywelfare.htm

    I have known people on welfare. Once I was the manager of a rooming house that rented to three of them. I did not like them. They made my job more difficult than it needed to be. One threatened me with violence, perhaps murder. Nevertheless, I did not envy them. Their welfare checks bought one room each, with no kitchen privileges. They shared a bathroom with other tenants.

    If you stay around for awhile you will see that I have a low opinion of the (largely black) underclass. I define these as unemployable welfare recipients who often supplement their welfare checks with the gains of criminal activity.

    My concern is for the working poor. I define these as those who work for less then twice minimum wage, with little or nothing in the way of employee benefits.

    Vote Democrat huh? Let's see, since Obama has been in office, the income gape is at a record high and increasing at an historic rate. There are a record number of Americans on welfare, the economy is stagnate, the cost of healthcare is out of control, there are a record number of illegal immigrants in the country with no education or skills putting a strain on our already overburden social services.

    Is this the 'hope and change' you believed the Democrats would bring?

    There are currently 26,000 homeless people in LA alone. A 100% increase from 7 years ago....
    Is your life better than it was 7 years ago?

    If you think the country is on the right path and you are happy with the current state our country is in, then by all means, vote Democrat........

      I see how highly i am thought of with all those posts, but i know its all incorrect and it has no bearing on my real life so i don't give a shit really. Why he chooses to continue to slander me with a make believe stereotype is beyond me. My hatred for the government is not a mental disease, they are a bunch of goddamn liars, thieves, murderers, hypocrites and criminals. If hating a group of criminals because they continue to do evil, immoral and inhumane shit to people every single day is a mental illness then fuck it i guess im crazy

    the loss the stock market suffered in the last 17 months of the Bush Administration was catastrophic. The market dropped an unprecedented 58% from the peak in late 2007 to the trough in early March of 2009.

    I remember when I was a kid, we had the Dems on the left and the GOP on the right. Dems supported the poor and disenfranchised and fought for the people. The GOP was the harsh hand of responsibility and put restraints on spending and fought back against regulations on people and business. It was a good system, we got love of utopia from one side and rigid reality checks from the other side. Then Reagan came along and the whole American system was destroyed and has not recovered.

    When I look back at Barry Goldwater I think that is who the GOP is supposed to be. Like Ike. Level headed, focused on expansion and innovation. But Reagan started the change to "if it means more money, it's good." So his administration (let's not pretend he was behind most of his policies, especially now knowing how far into Alzheimer's he already was) removed all restrictions on credit and finance, let banks run wild, made debt an acceptable thing for the country and the people, did everything possible to remove restrictions from industry, and worst of all, started our disastrous middle east policy of arming people to the teeth to get the spoils of war.

    The irresponsibility he brought to the office and to government now seem impossible to remove. The huge money from his admin's decisions made multi nationals rich and lobbyist picked up the sizable scraps, money began to be funneled to the super rich, the lucky were praised, the unlucky were derided as lazy. The influx of money forced the Dems to adopt a money is God attitude just to compete and we lost our Liberal representation which is how the country was founded. (for all the GOP bluster these days about the Founding Fathers, they never seem to use perspective and realize how Liberal the FF were.

    So now we have the ultra right wing party which has abandoned all legitimacy and intellect in favor of sound bites, fear and instilling anger. The Dems have shut out the Liberals in favor of Al From's Progressive movement which essentially says, "do whatever the GOP does but scale back 5%." Now center has moved so far to the right, despite the majority of the citizens moving to the right. Thank god Reagan worked so hard to remove restrictions on media ownership so now all our info comes from 4 propaganda sources instead of getting news to disseminate for ourselves. Think of how far the center has moved in politics that Barack Obama, a centrist just a bit to the right of center is called a Socialist. Thrown in a citizenry that for the most part, has abandoned intellect in favor of petty angers at people they don't know, simply because the media tells them to.

    So overall, I think the American system has become a disaster of petty greed and no values. That said there is a speck of integrity left in the Dem party thanks to people like Warren, Sanders (technically an independent), Grayson, Polis and a few others. I would be a Republican today if the platform was what it used to be, and if any kind of integrity existed in the party. But that is long gone. I will give Barack Obama credit for restoring some sanity to the office of the President after 4 back to back disasters and at the very least he for all intents and purposes seems to be a good human. Something I haven't had in a President in my 39 years. Is he terrible on privacy, liberty, war crimes and sucking on Wall Street's dick? Yes to all sadly. But then again, he is the first Black President and he doesn't want to be killed. Hell, he has barely done anything to represent Liberalism and they bash him unmercifully as both a Socialist and a Communist. Not sure how two opposing political systems can be held by one leader, but the media propagates the myth. Just keep the rubes fighting, so the rich can keep taking all the money.

    What is the most shocking is that somehow these days, no matter what issue I read about or hear about, I initially say either "that's good" or "that's terrible" based on basic tenets of sanity and goodwill. Many of the issues you say, "well everyone must think this or that." Then 10 seconds later you hear all the right wing media instantly take the opposite position. It is to the point now that GOP means taking the position of being the biggest prick and asshole and blaming people for things, even if they have no control over them. Again, thank you Reagan for the "Welfare Queen" myth. It was false then, yet 35 years later, conservatives still believe it to not only have been true then, but is true now. The poor are greedy, lazy, and irresponsible and are the cause of all your ills, not the corporate board that reduces you wage and benefits while profits increase.

    As to the OP, yes, finances, incomes, everything with money does better under Dems because of one simple fact. Dems don't enjoy war. The GOP does. It loves war and hates every second we are not in one or multiple engagements. Is it because they like killing innocent brown people? Is it because they like the gold, oil and drug access from it for our largest criminal multi-nationals? Is it because the military industrial complex demands to be paid? I don't really know the answer and am scared to dig any deeper. But the fact is under Dems you generally get peace and peace is great for financial instruments. Bankers, investors, and speculators can go nuts. When there is war, lots of money is made but it is much, much more centralized to a few defense and construction mega-companies.

    All i know for sure is that as long as people are willing to freak out about things that absolutely have no effect on them (gay marriage, abortion, Christian persecution-whatever that is, Benghazi, undocumented immigration), the folks at the tip top will continue to do absolutely anything they please, especially since there is no such thing as investigative reporting other than Last Week Tonight with John Oliver . . . . and that is really fucking sad.

    I know what it's like to live with a Republican Governor who wants to be President.

    For the past 3 years, we have been under the thumb of Grover Norquist, pseudogovernor. For some reason, Bobby Jindal thought Grover's pat on the head would give him an advantage in the Presidential Race. This became a problem when the state ran out of money and Grover would not allow a tax increase.

    The solution our Legislature arrived at is as elegant as declaring that oral sex outside the bounds of Holy Matrimony to not be adultery.

    A college tuition increase was declared, with a matching tax credit for the household of the student. The cool part of it all is the tuition was never collected, so the credit could not be used, BUT, the tax credit was put into the Grover Norquist Tax Pledge analyzer and balanced out tax increases in other places, so we came out revenue neutral.

    This is what passes for fiscal responsibility in Louisiana.

    Fiscal responsibility is raising taxes when the United States goes to war. That is what the Roosevelt administration did during World War II.

    The Republican Hate Machine never gave President Obama a chance. Right after Obama's inauguration Rush Limbaugh, who is the Chairman of the Republican Hate Machine, said of the President, "I hope he fails." In other words, the fat windbag hoped that more Americans would lose their jobs and homes, so that Obama would look bad.

    All this nonsense about President Obama being a Muslim born in Kenya is simply a way of saying, "Look how dark his skin is."

    Far from hating "the big media" I frequently quote The Wall Street Journal and Forbes, "the capitalist tool." I have even quoted National Review.

    Although I usually disagree with the editorial stands The Wall Street Journal takes, I trust its integrity. I trust the integrity of Forbes and National Review. I do not trust the integrity of Rush Limbaugh and FOX News.

      And you know that Rush Limbaugh explained what he meant, at the time, and repeatedly after..........he hoped Obamas policies failed, because they are bad for the country.
      But you already know that

      Sadly, your ongoing war on Republicans outshines the "Republican hate machine" by several levels. "Bush the lesser" and half truths like "started two wars he couldn't win while cutting taxes" are but two examples of your lopsided editorials.

      It makes anything you offer relative to politics suspect.

    I admit that it was unfortunate for the President to say "If I had a son he would look like Trayvon Martin." Most whites, including me, could tell that Tayvon Martin was a black ghetto thug who was headed for a life of crime.

    What has President Obama like about? Quote the lie, and explain in your own words how it was a lie. Keep in mind that it is common for politicians to make campaign promises that they are unable to fulfil.

    Rush was talking about his policies failing. Obamacare has led to many Americans losing their full time status so the company could save on insurance expenses as one example. Companies, as well as individuals, try to save money wherever possible. Obama should have known that.

    While it is true that Obama was not born in Kenya, he did attend school there. Do they not teach Islam in the schools there? Those who reject Islam while being taught it are supposed to be killed but he lives. Makes one wonder why?

    Well, considering the fact that the income gap is worse under Obama than Bush, logic would say yes.

    The fact is, the Democrats may talk about economic fairness, but their record on the issue doesn't quite match up with reality.

    You can see the proof from 7 years of Obama and the Democrats, the richest 1% has gotten richer, the poor have gotten poorer and the middle class is shrinking at an alarming rate.

    There is no reason to believe this trend will change if another Democrat gets elected president....
