The news that Russia sponsored cyber attacks on America isn't new information. As early as 2015 American Intelligence agencies were aware of Russian interest in impacting our elections.

What is becoming big news is Obama's reaction to Russian hacking attempts. Obama's former cyber chief, Michael Daniel, who served from 2012 until 2017, testified about orders he received in 2016 during a Senate Intelligence Committee hearing into how the Obama administration dealt with Russian cyber and information warfare attacks.

He testified that he was ordered to "stand down" and to put on the back burner any response to Russian hacking attempts by Susan Rice, President Obama’s national security adviser, to stop his efforts and “stand down.” This order was in part because Rice feared the options would leak and “box the president in.” Everyone also assumed that the next administration would deal with it, meaning Clinton.

President Obama instead chose to give Putin a "strongly worded warning" during a summit in China in early September 2016. Predictably, the warning hardly slowed the pace of attacks.

Another revelation came from Victoria Nuland, who served as assistant secretary of state for Europe during the Obama administration. She told the panel that she had been briefed as early as December 2015 about the hacking of the Democratic National Committee — long before senior DNC officials were aware of it — and that the intrusion had all the hallmarks of a Russian operation.

So, here's the thing.
It turns out that the Obama administration was aware much earlier that the Russians were hacking DNC computers, as early as the winter of 2016, but did nothing to stop the hacking. Why? Because of fears it would a) Play into Trump's claims that the election was fixed b) that it would further expose Clinton to charges that her private e Mail server was a source of leaks of classified material and c) "box the President in". Box him into what isn't clear, but apparently, that was more important than national security and free elections.

BTW, it’s been almost unanimously agreed, the Russians could not get into the actual voting system, it’s to diverse, each state having it’s own system(s). 48 of 50 states were thoroughly checked prior the election.

Of course it could have been a Russian sub-contractor.

 

I'm an Obama supporter, but this was a huge error. To allow a foreign country, an adversary at that, to meddle in a US election should not be an issue of party politics. The American public had a right to know, back in 2015, and Russia should have been punished with sanctions.

It just shows that no matter how many firewalls and passcodes are put up, something as important as elections should not be accessible to ANYONE through the internet. If we have to go back to hand counting paper ballots, so be it.

So, Obama knew about what was going on with the Russians, and he probably knew about Trump. But because he didn't "do" anything it exonerates Trump fromhis dealings with the Russians...

But of course, had Obama done anything, the republicans would have cried foul and that Obamawas interfering in theelection to help Hillary.

Face the truth, shooter, the Russians helped Trump and Trump was in on it...

Shooter found this of note because of a couple of things;
First, Obama knew, dammit! He knew the Russians were hacking us, and he didn't respond because of political reasons. Obama abdicated his solemn sworn duty to America. Shooter thinks Obama, like everyone else, thought Clinton would ascend the throne, and he didn't want Trump to say the election was rigged. The fact that Russia was hacking away was not so alarming to him that he wanted to do anything about it.

That Rice would direct those in a position to do something about it to "stand down" speaks volumes.

Second, it becomes evident that the Obama administration knew much earlier than the middle of 2016 that Clinton was a) using a private server and b) it was being hacked by the Russians. This was not a huge concern either, as it now seems.

Now for the record, Shooter will once again state his position on all things Trump/Russian;
If the Mueller investigation in fact uncovers evidence that Trump colluded with Russia to win the Presidency, then let him hang for it. If Pence was involved, he can take his medicine as well. And as for the Russians, well then lets go give them some what for as well.

What Shooter expects to happen out of the Mueller investigation re; Trump/Russian collusion is exactly nothing. No collusion.

He had expected that Mueller would follow the evidence, stay non political, and we'd see a whole bunch of scoundrels on both sides of the aisle getting caught up in influence peddling, vote fixing, and all sorts of other rascally behavior.

Not anymore. Shooter expects the Mueller investigation to whimper to a close without finding any collusion, but also that they sweep a lot of other unsavory shit under the rug strictly for political reasons.

Russia is still hacking away. Their goal is not to support or attack any ideology, rather to cause division and upset in America.
