The person we refer to as Jesus Christ did exist but he no one in his time would have called him that.
"Jesus" (Gee-Zus) is the English pronunciation of the Latin name, which is a translation of the Greek name, which in turn was a translation of the Hebrew name Ishua. Christ is not a name but a title. It basically means "the anointed one".
I modern English, we would call him Joshua.

Christianity is a fairy new religion. So who's to say. Rome has records that tell of a man called the messiah, crucified at about that time. Now with 2000 years passed not many eye witnesses left around to tell the tale. You'll just have to take it on faith.

From 66 to 73 AD Jews revolted from the Roman Empire. The revolt was crushed. Hundreds of thousands of Jews were killed or displaced. These included eye witnesses to the ministry of Jesus. Written records to that ministry were also destroyed.

But, considering how his avowed followers treat others and the world, I can't believe because I don't think they fully believe in him. Their actions say otherwise.
