We need to look at two things here. And one is how Trump and his administration are trying to put targets on the backs of reporters because they are actually doing their jobs and accurately reporting what he and his administration actually says and does.

But then we also have to look at the little game Trump and his administration are playing here because they are too gutless to actually name which media are the "enemy of the people" or even cite specific examples of "fake news." Which is actually any and all news that does not praise Trump.

White House won't say which news outlets are 'enemy of the people'

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders on Monday declined to name which news outlets or journalists, specifically, President Trump believes are the "enemy of the people," downplaying the role his rhetoric may have played in the political violence of the last week.

"The president is not referencing all media, he’s talking about the growing amount of fake news in the country, and he’s calling that out," Sanders said at a White House press briefing when asked about the president's use of the term to describe the press.

She declined to call out specific reporters or media organizations, saying "those individuals probably know who they are."

CNN’s Jim Acosta called on Sanders to "have the guts" to say which outlets are enemies of the American people if the president is willing to use the term broadly, as he did again earlier Monday.

"I think it’s irresponsible of a news organization like yours to blame responsibility of a pipe bomb that was not sent by the president, not just blame the president but blame members of his administration for those heinous acts," she added.

Sanders appeared to be referring to a statement from CNN President Jeff Zucker condemning her and Trump’s attacks on the press after the network received an explosive device in the mail last week.

"The President, and especially the White House Press Secretary, should understand their words matter," Zucker said last Wednesday. "Thus far, they have shown no comprehension of that."

Critics have in recent days pointed to Trump's inflammatory and repeated attacks on the media and Democrats after a man mailed pipe bombs to the network's New York office, as well as to several prominent critics of the president.

Monday's press briefing was held hours after CNN said another suspicious package addressed to the network was intercepted at an Atlanta post office.

In the aftermath of the bomb threats — and a shooting at a Pittsburgh synagogue that left 11 dead — Trump has called for unity and decried the perpetrators' actions.

He has also, however, continued to claim that the media is to blame for divisions in the country, and “CNN sucks” chants have persisted at Trump rallies.

Trump earlier Monday blamed the media for causing "great anger" in the country.

“The president’s not placing blame. The president’s not responsible for these acts,” Sanders told reporters at the White House.

“Again, the very first action the president did was condemn these heinous acts. The very first thing that the media did was condemn the president," she added.

CNN responded to Sanders's comments in a tweet shortly after her press conference:

GOP leaders have pushed back any suggestion that Trump's rhetoric may have motivated either Cesar Sayoc Jr. or Robert Bowers, the two men accused of carrying out the pipe bombs and the synagogue shooting, respectively.

“The only person responsible for carrying out either of these heinous acts were the individuals who carried them out," Sanders said.

GOP Jewish campaign treasurer admits opponent’s ‘eyes were altered to look bigger and greedy’ in anti-Semitic mailer

The Jewish campaign treasurer for a Republican candidate in Connecticut is defending a campaign mailer that depicts their Democratic Party opponent in what is being described as the “worst kind of anti-Semitism.”

“The full-color, double-sided mailer shows an altered image of Democrat Matt Lesser, who is Jewish, with large, beady eyes, holding fistfuls of hundred-dollar bills. There’s also a lead tagline on the other side: “Matt Lesser will take everything you worked for.” It was mailed out to homes in and around Middletown — the district where Lesser is trying to win a Senate seat,” WNPR reported Tuesday. “It was sent by his Republican opponent Ed Charamut.”

A new line has been crossed,” said Rep. Lesser. “Two days after a horrific attack in Pittsburgh, the last thing we expected was to see something like this in Connecticut.”

“To be honest, I was shocked when I saw the mailer, I’ve never seen any quite like it,” he added.

Allan Greenspan, Charamut’s Jewish campaign treasurer, admitted the image of Lesser’s face was altered.

“His eyes were altered to look bigger and greedy,” Greenspan admitted.

Greenspan claimed he was unaware if Lesser’s nose had also been altered.

The juxtaposition of a Jewish candidate and money in this manner suggests an age-old anti-Semitic trope,” explained Steve Ginsburg, director of the Connecticut branch of the Anti-Defamation League.

The state Republican Party lashed out at those criticizing the campaign mailer.

“If you disagree with a Democrat, this is what they do — they call you racist, sexist or bigot,” claimed GOP Chair JB Romano.

Democratic Party gubernatorial candidate laid blame with President Donald Trump for the mailer.

“Hateful rhetoric from the White House has emboldened racists, homophobes and anti-Semites to drop their dog whistles and express their bigotry clearly and openly,” Lamont told the Hartford Courant. “Those hateful words lead to violent acts. There aren’t ‘two sides’ to anti-Semitism, and there aren’t good people on ‘both sides’ of bigotry.”

Fox News Guest Claims Migrant Caravan Carries ‘Leprosy,’ Will ‘Infect Our People,’ Offers No Evidence

A guest on Fox News claimed without evidence that migrants traveling in a caravan up through Mexico were carrying diseases such as leprosy, smallpox and tuberculosis and that they were going to “infect our people in the United States.”

Former Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent David Ward appeared on the cable network with host Charles Payne to discuss the caravan which has been a frequent target of attacks by President Donald Trump and Republicans. Payne was speaking after the U.S. military announced it was sending over 5,000 troops to the southern border with Mexico ahead of the caravan’s arrival. In addition, Newsweek reported that an additional 7,000 troops would be kept on round-the-clock standby.

“The military is going to be a tremendous asset at the ports of entry to prevent the people from coming across the ports of entry,” Ward began. "However, what we need to look at is what happens between the ports of entry and what the border patrol is going to have to face. We have three tenants of problems here, we have national security, public safety and public health issues with these caravans coming to the United States.”

Later, Ward went on to describe what he claimed were the health risks attached to the caravan.

“Then public health, we have these individuals coming from all over the world that have some of the most extreme medical care in the world,” Ward said. “And they're coming in with diseases such as smallpox and leprosy and TB that are going to infect our people in the United States.”

There have been almost zero cases of leprosy in El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras, the three countries where the majority of the migrants originate from, in recent years, according to the World Health Organization. There is no evidence of any smallpox cases anywhere in the world. There are cases of tuberculosis in Central America as there are in the United States.

Later in the show, Payne clarified that "we have no way of independently confirming" the claims Ward made about migrants carrying diseases.

Ward’s comment comes after Trump claimed last week that there were “unknown Middle Easterners” mixed in with the Central American migrants. The president, who has made the caravan a key part of his pitch to voters in the closing days of the midterms campaign, later admitted he had no proof for his assertion.

On Monday, despite the suspect in a mass shooting at a synagogue in Pittsburgh over the weekend being in-part inspired by hatred for the migrant caravan, Trump returned to the subject.

“Many Gang Members and some very bad people are mixed into the Caravan heading to our Southern Border,” Trump tweeted. “Please go back, you will not be admitted into the United States unless you go through the legal process. This is an invasion of our Country and our Military is waiting for you!”

‘So much worse than Willie Horton’: Historian explains why Trump’s latest ad might be the most racist ever

President Donald Trump’s racist new ad that portrays undocumented immigrants as psychotic killers is drawing fierce condemnation from all corners — and even from some of his fellow Republicans.

Princeton historian Kevin Kruse, in a lengthy Twitter thread, breaks down the reasons why the new Trump ad may be the most racist TV ad he’s seen — even worse than the infamous Willie Horton ad that aired in 1988.

Kruse begins by noting how infamous Republican campaigner Lee Atwater at the time knew that his ads tying Democratic presidential nominee Mike Dukakis to black convict Willie Horton would be seen as racist, which was why he outsourced their funding to a third-party group called “Americans for Bush.”

The ad was so racist, Kruse documents, that Atwater actually felt the need to apologize for it on his deathbed.

Trump, Kruse says, feels no need to distance himself from the racism in his ad — and has even pinned it to his Twitter profile.

“This new ad is coming directly from the personal Twitter account of the president himself,” Kruse writes. “It isn’t just that the president of the United States is personally pushing white nationalist politics in its ugliest and crudest form, it’s that he’s doing it proudly and with purpose. That is so, so much worse than ‘Willie Horton’ ever was.”

MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough laughed out loud after watching video of President Donald Trump calling on a biker group to violently confront Antifa activists.

The president described anti-fascists as “bad people” during a rally Sunday in Macon, Georgia, and urged “Bikers for Trump” to violently clash with them.

“I’ve got to say it’s kind of crazy, just kind of crazy,” Scarborough said, after hooting with laughter. “I don’t think it’s helping either, because if you look at the polls that are coming out.”

Co-host Mika Brzezinski said Trump loved to incite violence with lurid fantasies, but Scarborough said nothing good would come from using biker groups for security.

“What does that even mean?” he said. “Did he not see what happened when Mick Jagger hired Hells Angels at Altamont?”

Hells Angel Alan Passaro fatally stabbed 18-year-old Meredith Hunter at the infamous 1969 music festival at a California speedway after the black teen attempted to climb onstage as the Rolling Stones performed, and then drew a pistol after he was confronted by the biker security guards.

“It’s a very short step from that rhetoric to saying that I want some volunteer citizens to provide security at my rallies and to bring their weapons,” Scarborough said. “That puts us spiraling into a terrible direction.”

‘Heil Hitler! Heil Trump’: Audience at Maryland performance of ‘Fiddler on the Roof’ feared mass shooting after Nazi outburst

The audience at a Baltimore performance of the musical Fiddler on the Roof feared that a mass shooting was about to break out when someone began shouting Nazi salutes.

The Baltimore Sun reported Thursday that that a man burst out with “Heil Hitler! Heil Trump,” prompting the audience to “start running.”

“I’ll be honest, I was waiting to hear a gunshot. I thought, ‘Here we go,'” Richard Scherr said.

Several moments later the man who shouted was escorted from the building, but Scherr said he spent the rest of the play with his heart racing.

“I didn’t even really pay attention to the second act,” he said.

The musical is a story of a Jewish family that is being persecuted in Tsarist Russia. It opened Tuesday and runs through Sunday at the Hippodrome Theatre.

The incident happened just a few weeks following the mass shooting at a Pittsburgh synagogue where 11 people died. Reports of anti-Jewish incidents in Maryland increased 47 percent in 2017, The Sun reported.
