Poor mush. It’s raining. Again.

So Georgia developed something called lymphangiectasia, and lost quite a bit of weight, a lot of it muscle mass.

My vet is excellent, and we’ve tried some different treatments, the last of which is a combination of a specialized diet, and a steriod medication which she is being weaned from. The food is hydrolized hypo-allergenic vegetarian kibble, is ridiculously expensive, and looks horrible. It’s like, yellow. What dog needs to be vegetarian? Apparently mine. But it seems to be working, thankfully, and that’s all that matters right now.

Part of what was so alarming was that she lost strength. One day she couldn’t jump up on the bed to take her regular spot at my feet, and that really brought home for me what a serious situation we were in.

Two days ago she was in a frisky mood and hopped up, twice. Last night, once. Big improvement, and I’m feeling a lot less alarmed.

Right now she’s deep asleep, chasing some intruder off in her dreams, barking and twitching and making me grin. She’ll be 6 in March; far too early to contemplate that trip across the rainbow bridge, but I was really very worried. Not so much worry today, though; she’s rounder, and stronger, and obviously feeling better.

Today’s a good day.

 

Georgia's breeder just texted me to ask if I'd take Georgia's sister, Indy. If I'm remembering right she's just a roly-poly sweetheart.

I don't need another dog. Georgia's a bit of a princess and doesn't tolerate other dogs well. I don't know if that kind of stress would trigger the bowel disease again, but this is a littermate that she lived with most of her life.

But oh. Two bulldogs? My heart.

Help me to be strong, Xn.

 

If they were litter mates, Georgia may love Indy around. Maybe just see if they like each other.

My furry babies, so many of them , great friends have all passed, I now borrow my daughters 2 babies sometimes, like all babies pains in the Ass but great babies.

Sitting on the sofa, Georgia on my feet, snoring like a wee buzzsaw.

She's a downright chubby bunny now, which is excellent. No more steroids, just the food.

She's getting the musculature back in her legs, but across her shoulders and chest, not as much. She doesn't chase or fetch; potato on legs, pretty much. We walk for exercise, and on the farm she grew up on she chased squirrels and rabbits and such. I don't have a farm to let her run on, and I can't trust her to behave with other dogs. She's alpha, and kind of a dick about it.

Anyone got any suggestions on building chest/shoulder strength in bulldogs, by any chance?

 

My am bull is the same way, I've been trying to get him to run more and even pull. But he does it for a few seconds and then wants to lay down. The neighbor comes over on the weekend with her little Weiner dogs and he play for a few mins and they just jump on and off him. The only time he's a dick to them is when food is out, but heard its a problem with most am bulls. I have a 100 pound lap dog and want him to be more active, he's only 3 years old.
