I don't think I posted on this when it actually happened the other day because it was one of those WTF times and I didn't know quite what to make of it. But after the Mueller hearings Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, House Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff, Oversight and Reform Chairman Elijah Cummings and Judiciary Chairman Jerrold Nadler held a press conference where they hit the highlights of the Mueller revelations. But two things struck me as odd. One was that by all appearances at least the hearings had not moved Peloci one bit. She was not willing to announce any formal impeachment proceedings and stuck to the line that they still needed to gather more facts and witnesses, And Nadler announced they were going to do that and would be filing in court to force the testimony of Don McGahn.

Which made the other thing seem even odder to me. They were all down right jovial about it. In fact Pelosi had kind of an orgasmic afterglow and they were all on the same page and in total agreement. And that was the part I couldn't quite get. I have watched Pelosi for more than a decade and that's the way she looks and acts when she's just cut a deal she is happy about. But if that was the case and she wasn't willing to go ahead with formal impeachment proceedings then the other three should have been pissed off mother fuckers because all three of the committee chairs, and especially Nadler have been pushing hard. In fact one thing that made all the bullshit about the feud with AOC so fucking funny to people in the know was that wasn't shit compared to the battles Pelosi and Nadler had going on behind closed doors. Buy there they all were just as happy as they could be.

Then today Pelosi had her weekly press conference pretty much saying same thing. They may impeach but they are not there yet and need to build the strongest case possible first so there was no impeachment inquiry, and no impeachment hearings.

And then Nadler and the Democratic members of the Judiciary Committee held their own press conference to announce they are filing a court case to make McGahn testify on the grounds they are conducting an investigation to see if they should start an impeachment inquiry. Its right in the court papers and carries the same legal weight just by another name.

And it suddenly all made sense. And Pelosi scores another win.

Dems' Emoluments Clause lawsuit against Trump hits major roadblock, as judge rules law 'unsettled'

A federal court judge on Wednesday ruled that President Trump can immediately challenge congressional Democrats' Emoluments Clause lawsuit against him, saying the litigation raises the "unsettled" question of whether politicians have standing to sue a sitting president for running international businesses.

The development was a major victory for Trump, who has railed against what he has called politically motivated invocations of the Emoluments Clause.

The Bill Clinton-appointed judge, Emmet Sullivan, had ruled this summer that the 200 congressional Democrats did have the legal standing to sue Trump. But the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals sent the case back to Sullivan and instructed him to reconsider the unprecedented separations-of-powers implications of the case.

"The question of whether the Foreign Emoluments Clause, U.S. CONST. Art. I, § 9, cl. 8, or other authority gives rise to a cause of action against the President is unsettled, and the standing question arises at the intersection of precedent," the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals said.

 

So it looks like Kellyanne has actually joined her husband George in declaring Trump is unfit for office. That's the only way we can explain this. It is just so blatantly sexist she had to know it was just a joke.

Especially since Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi is wall to wall media right now pointing out she didn't change her mind at all. The facts and situation changed. And while she honestly believed Trump was not worth impeaching before he has now become self impeachable and she has no choice but to oblige.

And these are my actual notes I took while they were talking that I would use to write the story later. And they are my raw notes with no corrections.
