No I did not see this coming. And it may not signify anything about how they intend to vote on witnesses and acquittal. But this hit especially hard. Because its just the kind of common sense thing that is really easy for people to understand.

The story about Giuliani involving Lindsey Graham in the Ukraine scandal has gotten kind of buried today. But I am sure they will catch up to it soon.

    Woulda...shoulda...coulda.

Seems all that Schiff has is assumptions, third hand accounts and more speculations, that sure sounds like the leftists hand picked ''witness's'' that testified in the investigations.

Curious though...how many of these hypocritical leftist managers voted against the Ukrainian Aid?

Reports: Senate Republicans lack votes to block witnesses from testifying in impeachment trial

Senate Republicans have reached a roadblock in their efforts to stop witnesses from testifying in the impeachment trial. According to reports Wednesday, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell fears he does not have enough votes to block witnesses, such as former National Security Advisor John Bolton, from taking the stand.

If allowed to testify, Bolton is expected to say the president froze military aid to Ukraine in order to push Ukrainian officials to investigate Joe and Hunter Biden’s business ties. With the 53 Republicans and 47 Democrats, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer believes he can attract votes from the other side of the aisle.

“I hope that we have just four Republicans, all we need is four, who rise to the occasion and say we need to find out the truth,” he stated.
    =====================================================================================================================================

I am of the opinion that Bolton will be brought before the Senate to testify as a witness...

I am of the firm opinion...this too, will backfire on the leftists, once again.

Just take note. The PR hacks, Trump supporters, and laughably obvious socks are all saying the United States of America no longer has a president. The Republicans are going to officially vote to make Trump a king. Now its official. If the president does it it cannot be a crime. The president is above all laws and the Constitution. Trump's rise to dictatorship is now complete.

It was a great country while it lasted. The shiny city on the hill democracy made great by the Constitution of the United States of America and the rule of law. But the conservative/Republicans threw all that away for just one man. They threw the United States of America away for a mad king dictator and his pathological lies.

Most Republicans know that what Trump did was illegal, but they do not think there was anything wrong with it. They are glad that Russia helped Trump defeat Hillary. They think it was a good idea to threaten the Ukraine in order to get dirt on Joe Biden.

Yes, had a Democratic president done the same, say Obama, we would be having the same articles of impeachment brought to the senate by a Republican house. The Republicans make any lie, ignore laws or rules, bribe, coerce, threaten, do anything to win an election and with Trump even sell out the country, the people, to remain in power.

Dog boy has been fetching too many sticks from poison ivy plants. Oh yeah, he 'knows' what most Republicans think. Still got to wonder why there are no crimes listed in the impeachment articles, since it was 'illegal'.

Rand Paul submitted a question naming the whistleblower, and CJ Roberts refused to read it, twice.

So Rand just went and read it to reporters. Also included the name of the house staffer the whistleblower worked with.

Laws only apply to Democrats, I guess?

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Is it not? The Employer may not name or retaliate. Is congress not part of the federal government, and as such the Employer of all public servants?

No, congress is not the employer of all federal employees, and no, it is not illegal to reveal the name of a whistleblower.

Depends on who you ask, and since this is new territory, it would seem prudence ought to be the default, but hey, someone’s personal security shouldn’t stop anyone, right?

It is a felony (18 USC § 1505) to impede or threaten to influence, obstruct, or impede an investigation of a congressional committee. The second germane felony provision, § 1513(e): retaliating against a witness.

Whether the witness is a whistleblower or not, any intimidation would be a violation of the obstruction statute. Even though it's not specific to whistleblowers, it would certainly apply to any congressional investigation where federal employees are sought as witnesses.

Lindsey Graham Provides Key Reminder to Democrats on Why They’re Losing on the Witness Debate
Posted at 5:30 pm on January 30, 2020 by Sister Toldjah

On the eve of what could possibly be the last day of the Senate’s impeachment trial, Democrats are still yada yadaing about “new witnesses” and “new evidence” and how Republican opposition to the introduction of either is the sign of a “cover-up.”

It’s a tiresome argument, and an untrue one at that – especially considering that it’s the House’s job to do the witness/investigative work prior to voting to impeach a president, not the Senate’s once the ball lands in their court.

To put a finer point on the matter, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) took to the Twitter machine earlier today to fact check Democrats and their claims regarding witnesses. Calling Democratic allegations of Republican witness blocking “outrageous”, Graham pointed to how House Democrats conducted the impeachment inquiry in the first place, and put the blame squarely on them:

    Lindsey Graham

    @LindseyGrahamSC

Of all the insane things being said about this impeachment debacle - and there is a lot to choose from - one of the most ridiculous is to say Senate Republicans are “Blocking Witnesses.”

    This is an outrageous claim.

    Lindsey Graham

    @LindseyGrahamSC

    Replying to @LindseyGrahamSC

    FACT:

It was the House of Representatives who refused to pursue the testimony of the witnesses because they wanted to impeach the President before Christmas.

Only in Washington would someone call that decision “Blocking Witnesses.”

It is because of that rush to impeach and denying Republican witness requests during the House’s impeachment inquiry that SchiffCo. have no one to blame but themselves for the predicament they find themselves in now, tweeted Graham:

In most of America it’s called: #YourOwnFault.

That Adam Schiff (D-CA), the rest of the House’s impeachment managers, and Sen. Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) keep insisting on the allowance of “new” everything is solid proof that Democrats rushed to impeach President Trump with a weak case for political reasons rather than anything related to any alleged impeachable offenses, as Sen. Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX), Graham, and many other Republicans have noted over the last several weeks.

That Democrats are alleging a “cover-up” at this stage of the game considering how they thwarted the concept of due process at every turn from the beginning of the impeachment inquiry to the day of the vote to impeach is the height of chutzpah. Next time they want to blame someone for why they can’t get anywhere on the witness issue, they might want to look in a mirror.

Report: McConnell Looking to Wrap Impeachment Trial up Possibly by the End of the Week
Posted at 2:30 pm on January 30, 2020 by Sister Toldjah

With the last day of questions in the Senate’s impeachment trial well underway, speculation is at a fever pitch as to just which way the vote will go Friday on the issue of whether or not to allow more so-called witnesses and alleged “new evidence” to be introduced.

Reports are swirling which suggest Sen. Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) is where he needs to be in the vote count to defeat any witness/”new evidence” demands from Democrats. And with Sen. Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) signaling defeat on the issue, it’s entirely possible this whole thing may be wrapped up by the weekend:

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is expected to move quickly to acquit President Donald Trump if a closely watched vote planned for Friday to compel witnesses and documents for Trump’s impeachment trial is defeated, according to Sen. John Thune of South Dakota, who is the number two Senate Republican.

The discussions come as Republican leaders believe they are closing in on the votes necessary to block any witnesses, a move that would bring a swift end to the trial.

“In the end it’s going to be up to the leader, but my view would be at that point you would want to start bringing this thing to a conclusion,” Thune said Wednesday. “I’m not sure there would be any value or any point in keeping it going.”

CNN is also reporting that high-ranking Republican aides say that though nothing is set in stone just yet, they believe “this proceeding will be coming to an end soon”:

GOP leaders started to lay the groundwork internally to bring a rapid end to the trial if the witness vote is defeated on Friday, feeling out just how amenable the conference is to teeing up a vote to essentially close down the proceedings and move to a final vote on the articles of impeachment immediately after the witness vote, two GOP senators tell me. That means two things: they have grown confident in their count on the witness vote and this process could be over quite soon.

That said, Thune also noted that even if McConnell wins on the issue of witnesses, the organizing resolution for the Senate trial would still give Democrats the opportunity to slow down its conclusion by way of introducing procedural motions that could extend proceedings for hours – or even days.

I think it’s unlikely this would happen, however, for two reasons: 1) the writing at that point will be on the wall and 2) the Iowa Democratic caucuses are Monday and the Democratic Senators running for president will want to be there.

    Stay tuned.

Chief Justice Roberts Reads Ciaramella/Misko Question About Threat to ‘Take Out the President,’ Schiff’s Response Says Everything
Posted at 6:00 pm on January 30, 2020 by Nick Arama

Now the questions at the Senate impeachment trial are heating things up and they have House Intel Chair Adam Schiff, the primary House Democratic impeachment manager, melting down and steaming.

Chief Justice Roberts wouldn’t allow Sen. Rand Paul’s question about the whistleblower earlier in the day, refusing to read it out.

But then senators picked up on the baton, rephrased the question and managed to get it asked anyway.

The question involved the reports that two Obama holdover NSC staff members, Sean Misko and the alleged whistleblower Eric Ciaramella had a conversation that was overheard shortly after President Donald Trump came to office in which they spoke about “need to do everything we can to take out the president.” But it didn’t name Ciaramella, so Roberts read it.

The question further mentioned that Misko had then been hired by Schiff’s House Intel Committee the day after the phone call between Trump and Zelensky.

And was Shooter the only one who noticed that Shiff didn't answer the question.
He used fake outrage to avoid the question.

It was kind of funny, kind of sad.
