  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

Not according to our news , who say a WHO decision will be made by 8 tonight , which is about 8 hours away.

I think it's more serious in terms of overall numbers

"The difference between coronavirus and SARS is that SARS was not that infectious,
it was transmitted mostly within hospitals," Prof McBride said.

This made it easy to get on top of once authorities understood how it was being passed on.

"This new virus seems to be more community-spread,
so it will be more difficult to contain and control without the co-operation of the general public," he said.

oops , sorry I can't find the info I was hoping to add here , which gave comprehenive comparisons on SARS and MERS and what is known so far about this latest version/mutation
    severity , death rates etc.

I guess one of the things that has to be considered , re is it a pandemic ,
    is
is it and epidemic in countries worldwide ,
    or ,
are most of the countries basically just dealing with imported cases ?

Is it spreading in numerous countries worldwide ?

On the other hand , I don't think there's any doubt it's a serious concern worldwide.

    Something comming up on news.
My above statement may have been wrong
on the timing of WHO announcement

WHO announcement on air right now

WHO has declared a global health emergency.

which dosen't actually make a lot of difference ,
just a way of streamlining actions , assistance and so on ,
which is already happening pretty well anyway
    (which they acknowledge)

SARS & this Flu are Nature's experiment with Humanity to see what will kill us off quickly and how we respond to it.
Mother Nature realises that there are too many of us and Gaea needs to be saved from our infestation.

    Good news for us.
Our Muppets having finally put their arses in gear ,
we now have onshore testing capability ,
meaning kiwi can get results in a few hours , instead of waiting till it goes to Aussie and the results come back .

    No cases here yet .

It still seems there are very few home grown cases outside of Asia.
    Nearly all are imported..

Like it or lump it , I think we definitely have to thank the Chinese for that ,
for early notification , and actions to prevent rampant spreading , and very quickly obtaining and share critical information.

That all resulted in everybody being onto it before it spread to far , and in most cases , before it spread at all.

Talk about on again off again .
Who knows what the fuck to believe.

    * * *
And now Chinese health authorities have confirmed that, contrary to earlier belief, patients are contagious even before they develop symptoms.

This means that potentially thousands of people could have been exposed to the coronavirus in Australia by the country's nine confirmed patients alone.
    * * *

This was claimed early on , as I posted days ago.
    Then it was disputed ,
    then denied ,
now it is being claimed again.

    Not helpful at all.
It seems likely only the Chinese have reliable information.
and many others are just pissing up their own arse.

Rapid increase in numbers , but of the 20 countries who have it ,
only two outside of Asia have had human to human transmission.

But , if it dose have a 14 day , or longer incubation period , then we're a few days to a week or more off being sure if first cases passed on the disease before isolated , or not.

That means all others are imports.
    so far

We may be the 21st country , but won't know until tomorrow.

One school alone here has over 120 students staying away voluntarily , having returned to NZ recently ,
    and others have similar numbers.

By declaring a Global Health Emergency...WHO is
better able to move assets globally...Reinstate medical
personal, divert allocated funds, as a precautionary measure....

Unlike the flu, there's no precautionary vaccine to take before
hand....Making everyone susceptible to the virus...Even if only
20% of the population come in contact...It would cripple our
Healthcare system....That is the biggest fear..

      ONLY 20% ?

      over a billion people.
a million in this small country
      4 million in Aussie
      60 million in the US

That would certainly be a pandemic.
      Probably be panpanic.

A long way to go though , as only about 10,000 so far.

Imagine you have 20% of the population
rushing into hospitals & clinics in the US?

This virus has that potential...Now add the
individuals that think they have it?

10,000 only? What 4 days ago it was 800 or
so? That's if you take the word of China as
truthful? Coronavirus is spread like the flu...
If it gets in the schools? Then what?

On average of 200,000 Americans are hospitalized from
the flu yearly...By all indication this moves faster &
no pre-vaccination to soften it's speed

I see the 195 Americans brought home have been ordered into a 14 day quarantining.

this is why they're being so careful
(people with no symptoms , spreading it)

    * * *
According to the study, there were five instances of asymptomatic transmission of the Wuhan virus in one cluster. A woman in Shanghai was infected by one of her parents, who had no symptoms. That woman flew to Germany and while she was asymptomatic transmitted the virus to two colleagues. One of those colleagues, while healthy, transmitted the virus to two more coworkers.
    * * *

so there a woman caught it from a parent who didn't know they had it ,
    flew to Germany ,
    and with no symptoms ,
    infected two people ,
who still with no symptoms ,
    infected two others ,
and suddenly you have an outbreak in Germany ,
before anybody knew they had the disease.

    * *
and for a few days , we've had people who obviously know diddley squat
telling everyone No it can't be spread asymptomatically

That's how dangerous fake/alternative/bullshit news can be.

I’ve noticed that most Asian people here are wearing surgical masks but very few other people. Has anyone else noticed this where you are?

    1. Josef.K.
If they're wearing face masks how can you tell that they're "Asian"?

      Josef.K., Feb 1, 2020

A few often wear them here to , but at the moment there's literally not many around.
Seems it killed the tourist flow pretty quickly.
Certainly lots of businesses are commenting ,
and a few have already shut up shop , untill they return.

As to how can you tell they're Asian ,
      well quite easily really.

      There's certainly rarely any doubt.
Most who wear them here are Chinese , but some Japanese , and a few others ,
like Philippine , Malay etc , and even Indian.

Funny thing is , official advice is that face masks are not protection from this disease.
      They are not recommended ,
and of course it's possible they could even trap microbes long enough to infect you .

(I have seen this advice from several sources , the WHO , local , and others)

    Relief , for now ,
we do Not have our first case.

(But I'd like to know what our Muppets are up to.
Having told us several times , they can now test here , and get results in "2 to 3 hours" ,
Why did it take over 24 to tell us
    ?
For people in the area , that's unacceptable ,
    or
    they were bullshitting )

And another by the by :
It is quite noticeable that we have less Asians around town , than is usual at this time.
I'm guessing many not come for schools ,
    and
less tourist coming into NZ of course.

You really must try to stop using the undifferentiating term "Asian" when referring to around 3 000 000 000 people who live in the Asian sub-continent.
