You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

International travel is not a necessity.

It is not an essential activity , it is a choice ,
and it is a privilege to be allowed to.

    It is not a right.

Ok , so stopping it causes some temporary disruptions and financial difficulties.

Think about what the cost of epidemics in countries all around the world would be.

Imagine if there was unrestricted travel spreading it to all the poorer countries of the world .

Now , think about if China wasn't so curupt , and paranoid ,
    and had been honest
    and taken proper action
    when they should have
    In THE BEGINNING OF DECEMBER

That is where this problem started.

    That is where responsibility lies
    fairly and squarely

So for any who are confused .

As far as I can determine , the source of the original infection
    has not been determined.
    There are several possibilities ,
but they can't pin it down ,
    and
there are several anomilies which haven't been explainable.

This means the original source may not have been where they thought it might be.

Also , they have not yet found "patient zero".

    *

This is as good as I can find anywhere , and have heard from specialists and experts in interviews .

    * *

Although an initial analysis of the virus suggested it was similar to coronavirus seen in snakes,
it now seems more likely that it came from bats.

A team of virologists at the Wuhan Institute for Virology released a detailed paper showing that the new coronaviruses' genetic makeup is 96 per cent identical to that of a coronavirus found in bats.

Some early cases of coronavirus however, appear to have infected
" people with no link to the Wuhan market at all"

suggesting that the initial route of human infection may pre-date the market cases.

    75 deaths in one day

But putting it in context ,
It is Not as bad as it sounds.

    * * *
The death toll from the new coronavirus has exceeded that of the severe acute respiratory syndrome outbreak in 2002 and 2003 in mainland China.

But the number of people who have recovered nationwide has also risen in recent days, suggesting that the new virus’s
    fatality rate is relatively low.

China’s Health Commission reported on Sunday that there were 475 recoveries
    and 361 deaths nationwide.

During the SARS outbreak, 349 people died in mainland China.

Health experts say they are encouraged by the steady rise in the number of recoveries.

They take it as evidence that the treatments meted out have been effective
and that the virus does not appear to be as deadly as SARS.

HMM: Scientists Alleging Possible HIV Strains in Coronavirus Retract Study After Establishment Pressure

    Feb 3, 2020

The situation surrounding the coronavirus pandemic is getting weirder and weirder as the establishment grows more desperate to control the narrative and suppress alternative reporting regarding the health scare.

Indian scientists at Biorxiv published findings last week that indicated HIV strains were found in the coronavirus that originated in Wuhan, China and is now spreading throughout the world. This immediately caused a stir as the information spread, with social media desperately trying to prevent the study from being widely disseminated.

Harvard public health scientist Dr. Eric Feigl-Ding announced on Sunday that these scientists formally retracted their study amidst the establishment-led backlash. He also deleted the posts on his Twitter in which he discussed the study.

    15. One source or many sources? The mutation rate suggests the 2019-nCoV came from just one recent source in single jump (as opposed to several mutation sources). This doesn’t mean much other than it wasn’t several strains that started outbreak. Don’t over-interpret. Just FYI.

    Eric Feigl-Ding@DrEricDing

    30) Dear friends, after learning that the original authors have formally retracted yesterday’s “uncanny” titled pre-print article, I believe it is prudent to delete the earlier posts 16-24 pertaining to it. Public health science has never been challenged by both such a fast...

“This is why it is important to never rush to conclusions and judgement on pre-print articles that aren’t peer reviewed. Even peer reviewed papers are sometimes flawed too, but hence why the need for replication of work by others to further confirm/refute. Normally all this s done in the realm of universities and academic conferences. But with such a fast moving [coronavirus] the normal pace of science is suddenly upturned and the public thirst for information… outpaces the time to properly vet all studies,” Dr. Feigl-Ding added in subsequent tweets.

While Dr. Feigl-Ding is willing to accept that the science was bogus, there may be a more sinister agenda at play here in which the findings are being covered up in order to promote the official narrative. The fake news media, after all, has a stake in covering up corporate or government malfeasance.

Popular alternative media website ZeroHedge was thrown off of Twitter when their reporting about the controversial study started to go viral.

The city of Wuhan, China opened a controversial research center for scientists to study deadly pathogens just two years ago:

A laboratory in Wuhan is on the cusp of being cleared to work with the world’s most dangerous pathogens. The move is part of a plan to build between five and seven biosafety level-4 (BSL-4) labs across the Chinese mainland by 2025, and has generated much excitement, as well as some concerns.

Some scientists outside China worry about pathogens escaping, and the addition of a biological dimension to geopolitical tensions between China and other nations. But Chinese microbiologists are celebrating their entrance to the elite cadre empowered to wrestle with the world’s greatest biological threats.

“It will offer more opportunities for Chinese researchers, and our contribution on the BSL‑4-level pathogens will benefit the world,” says George Gao, director of the Chinese Academy of Sciences Key Laboratory of Pathogenic Microbiology and Immunology in Beijing. There are already two BSL-4 labs in Taiwan, but the National Bio-safety Laboratory, Wuhan, would be the first on the Chinese mainland…

Many staff from the Wuhan lab have been training at a BSL-4 lab in Lyon, which some scientists find reassuring. And the facility has already carried out a test-run using a low-risk virus.

But worries surround the Chinese lab, too. The SARS virus has escaped from high-level containment facilities in Beijing multiple times, notes Richard Ebright, a molecular biologist at Rutgers University in Piscataway, New Jersey. Tim Trevan, founder of CHROME Biosafety and Biosecurity Consulting in Damascus, Maryland, says that an open culture is important to keeping BSL-4 labs safe, and he questions how easy this will be in China, where society emphasizes hierarchy. “Diversity of viewpoint, flat structures where everyone feels free to speak up and openness of information are important,” he says.

Yuan says that he has worked to address this issue with staff. “We tell them the most important thing is that they report what they have or haven’t done,” he says. And the lab’s international collaborations will increase openness. “Transparency is the basis of the lab,” he adds.

We may not know exactly what the globalist establishment is desperate to hide about the coronavirus outbreak until its too late.

    Good News

Washington state patient is discharged from the hospital
From CNN Gina Yu and Ben Tinker
The first US patient to have a confirmed case of Wuhan coronavirus, a man in his 30s, has been discharged from the Provincial Regional Medical Center in Everett, Washington, the hospital said Monday in a statement.

“The patient remains in isolation at home and is being monitored by the Snohomish Health District, in coordination with his care team at Providence,” the statement said. “For the privacy of the patient, we will not be disclosing the exact date of discharge or any additional details regarding his discharge process.”

The patient issued the following statement: “I am at home and continuing to get better. I ask that the media please respect my privacy and my desire not to be in the public eye.

"I would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and entire team at Providence who cared for me. I appreciate all of the concern expressed by members of the public, and I look forward to returning to my normal life," the patient said.

So it's hard to know what to believe out of China ,
and not much better out of the US ,
but this should ease some fears ,
and some of the stresses of panic merchants and the like ,
and maybe even some conspiracy theorists.

The consensus developing , is that the fatality rate is not high ,
    and that most will recover.

Most seem to be of the opinion that it is more like a severe case of flue or common cold , than anything worse ,
    at the moment.
    We'll see ,
    But think positive :)

    and remember:
The only person known to have died from this outside of China ,
    so far ,
is a Chinese man in the Philippines ,
    who had returned from Wuhan.

    Finally ,
the rescue mission is on its way.

There'll be some very happy Kiwi in Wuhan this afternoon ,
along with some happy Pacifica , and Aussies , who'll fill any spare seats.

The crew and team have been waiting , rested up for the long journey , in , load up and home , in Hong Kong , ready to go.
No idea , but maybe 20 hours
Wishing them a safe return , uninfected.

The rescue ,what little we know:
The plane left here , empty at midnight last night.
The crew for the rescue mission are already in Hong Kong.
Expected back about , 4 tomorrow afternoon.

They are expecting to bring back something over 270.
The crew and team will have exclusive use of the business class cabin.
Aircrew , including 4 top pilots , will not have any contact with passengers.
    Others minimal during flight.
No alcohol , but normal meals and drinks otherwise.
All work surfaces etc , cleaned/sanitised every half hour.

Expected two hours on ground ,
    leaving about midnight our time
    3 1/2 hours from now ,
and about 13 hour flight home.
    Note :
These times don't seem to fit well , maybe reporting got a bit muddled in translation.
    Not that it's important.
(I think they must have not actually left Hong Kong yet . That could explain it)

They're pretty lucky with the quarantine facility , being on the fringe of our biggest city , with several days to prepare and truck in everything needed ,
it'll be almost luxury compared to Christmas Island.
A lovely spot to , and all close to home when allowed to go.

The pilots , who never normally land in Wuhan , have been doing familiarity practice in preparation (I guess in simulators)

      Has just landed.
      Hours late.
Spent hours longer in Wuhan than planned.
Seems it's come home near a third empty.

I think only 98 kiwi on board
      Some Aussies (35 ?)
Pacifica and one each from Uzbekistan and the Netherlands

      * *
About 60 people who registered interest in the flight did not arrive at the airport without notice, and some chose not to catch the flight.
      *

A shame to go all that way and come back with so many empty seats

Possibly , but not likely, as they won't have any personal contract untill they're cleared.
More likely just not able to get to the airport.
There's signs the Chinese are not being overly helpful , and we do have to allow that they have a lot to deal with aside from foreign evacuations.

It is also quite possible they/some decided if they're not infected now , they'll just sit it out and hope.
Many may be Chinese Kiwi to.

Plus , any with any type of infection would know they wouldn't get on the flight anyway.

So many possibilities , not much point in speculating , well likely never know for many.

Hong Kong has reported its first death from the novel coronavirus, as the city's hospital workers strike to demand authorities fully close the border with mainland China to curb the spread of the virus.

The state of play: 2019-nCoV has killed more than 425 people and infected over 20,000 people in mainland China, plus almost 200 in 26 other countries and regions. 11 people in the U.S. have now been diagnosed with coronavirus, including two who were infected person-to-person rather than via travel to China.

    Last 48 hours.
    • U.S. cases: Cases have been confirmed in California (6), Illinois (2), Arizona (1), Massachusetts (1) and Washington state (1).
    • Under investigation: 36 U.S. states report 260 (cumulative total) patients under investigation (PUIs), of whom 82 are pending and 167 were found negative, the CDC said Monday.
    • Travel bans: The U.S. is denying entry to all foreign nationals who have been to China in the past two weeks, and will place Americans who were in Hubei province in a 14-day quarantine — and it's not the only country to take this type of measure.
    • China reacted furiously to the decision.
    • Congress: Some Congress members are asking the Trump administration to do more to combat the spread — with some calling for harsher travel restrictions to and from China.
    • Protecting Xi: President Xi Jinping is often described as the most powerful Chinese leader since Mao, but he's not the face of Beijing's response to what could ultimately be the biggest test of his tenure thus far.
    • New hospital complete: The Wuhan Huoshenshan Hospital, designed for the treatment of coronavirus patients has opened — after being built in 10 days.
    • Global economy: The coronavirus has the potential to be as damaging to the global economy as the U.S.-China trade war, economists tell Axios. And, announcements of global mergers could be delayed.
    • OPEC+ response: OPEC and its allied producers are mulling at least two possible responses to the crude prices drop.

, Li Lanjuan, a member of the National Health Commission's expert panel on the coronavirus, told state broadcaster CCTV on Monday that since there were not enough testing kits in Wuhan, "not everyone can get tested".

"Early detection, early diagnosis, early isolation and early treatment cannot be done in Wuhan at the moment. I hope that the country can support Wuhan [more]," said Li, who was in the Hubei province city to help oversee the handling of the outbreak.

Frontline doctors in Wuhan confirmed that there was a limited number of testing kits available, and only a small number of "fortunate" patients who tested positive would be admitted to hospitals and receive treatment.

A doctor at the Union Hospital in Wuhan, who declined to be identified, said staff could only test about 100 patients a day, and they had to wait 48 hours for the results.

"When the National Health Commission announces the numbers, they're already two days old," the doctor said. "We also have to turn away patients with mild symptoms, knowing that many of them will return later [when their condition worsens]. But we don't have the space in the testing centre, or the hospital beds."

    *

"There have also been many patients who died of undifferentiated respiratory and undiagnosed pneumonia symptoms in Wuhan since December – before the virus testing kits were made available," Tsang said.

"These cases should have been investigated and counted [in the tally] if confirmed. These are factors pointing to inaccurate reporting of the official figures," he said.

    *

Xi presided over a special meeting of the top Communist Party body for the second time since the crisis started, telling the Politburo standing committee on Monday the country must race against time to curb the spread of the virus.

    He also said
" those who neglect their duties will be punished" ,
    state broadcaster CCTV reported.

    Yeah
    Right

I wonder who'll be the poor sacrificial cow , or bull ,
chosen to cover up thier corrupt ineptness.

Will their people and the world let them get away with that ?

Or , can they do anything about it anyway ?

I saw an interview with one of the doctors who tried to notify everyone that there was a potential serious outbreak in Wuhan , in the early stages.

He was taken in , severely reprimanded , and along with 5 or 6 other doctors ,
forced to sign a document ,
basically (falsely) admitting they were spreading rumours.
    (effectively recanting his statement)

I have an article on this bookmarked , which I may make a post on ,
but don't want to be completely boring all the time.

I think , from available information , the Chinese leadership is entirely responsible for this outbreak going the way it has.

They could and should have been onto it , probably in mid December at least .

They weren't , because of the fear they have created right down the ranks , and particularly amongst the lower ranks.
(who have no-one below to pass the blame on down to)
It was already out of control , before they even started to take action.

Nothing is allowed to be wrong , or go wrong that in anyway reflects on the leader , Xi.
    Well Mr Xi
that has gone spectacularly wrong , and it is ALL your fault.

Yeah , the perfect environment to nurture an epidemic.
Thousands of people from all over , cramed into an enclosed space ,
      excitedly mixing and mingling ,
      and bumping and bonking.

There's a second ship had an outbreak to I think , but the disembarked before it was realised.

Two World Dream cruise ships infected

A desperate search has begun for passengers on the World Dream cruise ship after at least four passengers were confirmed with coronavirus, while the Diamond Princess has confirmed 10 cases aboard its quarantined vessel.

The disease control authority of Guangdong is scrambling to track down thousands of passengers who were on board a cruise between China and Vietnam after at least four people were confirmed to have been infected.

Authorities in the southeastern coastal province have issued an emergency alert for people who sailed with the World Dream, asking them to report to local municipal disease control and prevention centres.

It comes after 10 people tested positive for the virus on a separate cruise ship at the Japanese port of Yokohama.

Thousands stranded , quarantined on this ship for at least 14 days ,
and it's like a ghost ship.
over 3700 passengers , all frightened to mix n mingle now.

    Imagine the cabin fever.
The very lucky ones at least have a little balcony :)

one posting , a diabetic hadn't had any food all night until 11 in morning ,
and posted that if he could get any soon , it would be to late.

    On the rescue mission.
    stated:
    312 seats available. (a 777 900 I believe)
    only 198 were brought out

    *
there were "a number of passengers that were prevented from coming to the departure lounge".

He said he had no further details on why they were unable to board the flight.

MFAT said around 60 people registered for the flight did not arrive at the airport and gave no notice. It has been approached for further comment.
    *
The last passenger to board the flight was a British four-year-old who staff held up the departure for, British diplomat Danae Dholakia said on Twitter.

    *
such a shame , a week's work , and putting people in place ready , plus about 30 hours flying for the actual mission ,
to come back with over a hundred empty seats ?

    Quarantine in a slice of paradise;

the army land is all approximately east of the blue line.
The land between approximately the pink line and the blue line is all reserve.

    Army bay ,
between the pink and blue on the north coast.
All beyond the blue dots is army land ,
and home for evacuees for the next 13 days (at least)

All set up way out of sight
    (under no fly zone)
, with medical facilities , accomodation , camper vans , everything needed , including shop for children's needs and toys etc.
improved cel coverage , internet and WiFi

Under the circumstances , I'm guessing some very happy campers
    :)

The continual increasing numbers have to be quite a concern ,
with numbers doubling every 5 to 7 days , depending who's numbers are correct.

And given how much is not known ,
and how many more cases there may be than is known
(some experts believe the numbers are probably double what is known)
it could be a long time before there's any improvement.
Basically the whole thing is way out of control for the time being.

On the Diamond Princess , in Yokohama ,
where the kiwi case is ,
numbers have doubled in a day ,
and that's really worrying in that environment of celebratory mixing and mingling ,
IF they have all been infectious much of the time on board ,
added to the time the original donor was mixing.
(he left the ship 12 days ago ,
and the current cruise embarked on January 20 , 17 days ago.
No mention how long he was on board , but one would suspect a normal cruise time , and at least some , if not most crew have been on board all that time.
So there may be a possible bank of up to about 26 days of possible infections)

There could be two waves of cases already in the pipeline.

Then , there's the question of
If more cases keep showing up , how long will the quarantining have to be extended for.
It could well turn into a hell ship for those left on board.
The infected having been taken off.
    Or ,
they have to turn most of , or the whole ship into a quarantine treatment hospital.
