It "liked" my post where I called it a spammer.

 

I had informed @ahorsewithnoname that I would be submitting an entry. But due to my packed calender, I will not be able to complete the story. I've only written a few pages and they don't look very promising, so I decided not to submit a story, rather than submitting a badly written one. I apologise to the organisers and also to the person, whose story I was writing a sequel to.

 

Drunk, (big surprise I know!) annoyed, (sort of a constant feeling these days.) and feeling let down.

The CAW is something that brought me here from the Story Site. I wondered who this CAW person was who had posted so many stories. Once I figured it out, I just missed the deadline for the CAW based on a song. DAMN IT!!! Since then, it has kept me coming back.

There are a couple people here who constantly bad mouth the CAW, but most people, writers and readers alike, enjoy it. I feel that it is, and has been a staple here on the story section for a long time. The participation is down... I grant you that. Some of the writers who were here for years went away... Also a given. Are the writers like me a fair replacement??? Probably not. But there are still people who are enjoying writing, and are trying their best to put out a quality story. (Whether a purveyor, or a doe agree or not.) To lose the opportunity to try would be a shame. Some of us just enjoy the friendly competition... Even if it is only a small field of competitors.

 

I hear you, UncleB. I am slowly reaching the end of my rope. The decline in quality here (the site) is more than palpable. You can see it with some of the ridiculous shit that people post and call a story. I can pretty much figure out a person's age simply by the use of textspeak in their writing. It horrifies me to think that some of these people might be the ones tasked with educating yet another generation of youth.

But I digress. I thought this CAW idea was one of my better ones. Oh sure, writing about a song can be fun, but this one, this gave people the opportunity to really jump in and take other stories to a new level. I mean, think about it from a non-sexual literary perspective. Who wouldn't want to write the next Harry Potter story? Or what about Manolin from The Old Man and the Sea? Did he indeed go out with Santiago? There have been so many cool stories written for the CAWs that I figured this would be great. Now I'm thinking that if there are five people who turn in stories it will be a lot. Pretty disappointing. CAW-killer is not exactly the title I was looking for, especially since I'm co-hosting with the lovely and talented ejls, who got this whole concept going years ago.

So instead of answering questions, and providing tidbits, I'm visiting here less and less, and looking for alternatives for creative release. Perhaps this is the push I need to turn my eye back to professional publishing. Been away from that for quite a while. I mean, seriously, I'm now in some ongoing feud with Clarise (I'm not reading her posts since I have her blocked, but I'm sure she's trashing me at every opportunity), I've always had Purient P. nipping at my posts, and when you think of it...there's no real encouragement or site help coming from the administration.

I'm not sure if it was one of your better one or not. With challenges we can look at them and be uninspired or think right off that we have a story for this one.

I won't labor the points I have raised in my two earlier posts and for the record it is your right to set what ever challenge you want but it also the writers' right to decide if they will accept it and it looks as if numbers will be down (although I suspect they will be better than five) which means not so many have accepted the challenge.

Its a challenge for writers with time and energy to meet and as I have sod all of both for me it would be impossible but there are quite a number who do

Hey, you all. I'm new here (Thursday, as you can see!), so I'm not sure how a lot of things work, but I'll be trying my hand(s)(depends on what's, uh, going on at the moment, you know?) at writing a story for the contest. I've been meaning to search my brain for some skills with erotica for a while, I write best when I work off another person's work, and it seems you all need some more people, so the stars have aligned, as it were. And, as it were, for once, the Japanese won't make a questionably good anime based on the stars' constellations. Because these constellations will be marked in jizz and connected with ropes.

But then, maybe that'd actually spark them to making one. Those wacky Japanese. For now, I'm new, so I'll write and let that speak for itself! If anybody has some stories that are particularly great which they'd love me to work off of, I'll give 'em a look, but otherwise I'll be sifting through what I can find. (And horse - your name is badass. Kickass song!)

Do it. Write us a story. We're a critical bunch here, but honest and supportive. Sincee this competition is anonymous, you have the exact same chance of success as a grizzled veteran. It's not about winning, you know. It's about gaining some exposure and getting reviews and appreciation from your peers. This can be a lot of fun if you let it be.

Welcome to XNXX @Bluetail as wsf says, get stuck in. If you enter the CAW you will get honest and constructive criticism, and it can be a lot of fun to participate. You still have a couple of weeks to write a short story based on a previous entry, even a tale of a few thousand words would suffice.

Although it made it tougher for me and a couple of others the premise was/is a good one: There's a slight handicap to previous winners and new entrants, with a slight advantage to previous non-winning entrants but it is a novel idea (no pun intended). There have been compys before where the number of entrants was a bit down, it's simply swings and roundabouts as to whether people have time to write an entry. I reckon you will be pleasantly surprised come the closing date at both the number of entries and the standard of them.

Please don't be discouraged, although this forum is nowhere near as well subscribed as it was in the past there are still some lovely people here and some very talented writers.

Cheer up old chap!
