I say test absolutely everybody with whatever tests for both post and present exposure and then juxtapose those positive results with patients who experienced none or mild symptoms. I’m certain that most people have been exposed in some degree and given my circumstances and symptoms I’m certain I fall into the latter camp.

And I’m also confounded by a statement like technically true but still lunacy. Kind of like the medieval Catholic Church confronted with Copernicus.

 

We have no way of knowing how many people have been exposed in the past as the types of testing that would detect past exposure have not been done on anywhere near a universal scale and most places still only test when people have moderate to severe symptoms and mostly the latter.

Wide scale testing of the type of which I am speaking has simply not been done. But if people who showed mild or no symptoms tested positive, the rate of mortality per exposure could do nothing but go down. One might remind oneself that babies exposed to polio were much more resistant to polio later in life and those exposed to cowpox were much more resistant to small pox later in later exposures to it.

Exposure is not prima facia evidence of morbidity.

Viruses are intracellular parasites.

I don’t care about what’s in wastewater. I care about what is in people’s bodies and how they are affected by it. Wastewater contains far more than just human waste.

I remember Mark Rutte saying that the Netherlands is second only to Sweden in it’s relaxed reaction to this virus. This is likely why the two counties are exhibiting such low and close numbers of cases and deaths per capita. Those are the numbers that count.

You are aware that the Netherlands has been under scathing attack from other members of the EU particularly Italy for it’s lax handling of c-19. (Because Italy has been such a model for success?) Get on their case, not mine.

I’m in the Netherlands to be with my girls and as and added bonus it is the most comfortable country in Europe for me because it has the most tolerance for free speech. I have applauded Sweden for it’s handling of the virus but I could never live in a country that prosecutes people for expressing their political thoughts. That leaves out England and Germany even more specifically.

I'm convinced that these people have never left their home towns and have never actually met anyone that thought differently. They can't evaluate sources or prove a point without repeating themselves over and over again. They have never actually been challenged in their views, and that's why they're so undeveloped. It all collapses via a modicum of critical thinking, but they also think that education is indoctrination. You seem content to work with estimates and abstractions. If you want estimates then work in the real living systems and test a sufficiently large sample set for signs of exposure to the virus. Actually with all the money we have thrown at this, why not just test everyone?

I’ve thrown out the major causes of death in the world and at least ten million of them so far this year would have been preventable if even a fraction of the resources devoted to this near non-event had been directed at them.

So don’t tell me about my self centeredness when you ignore the plight of millions of dying people from regular and preventable causes. The environment they live in sees death in every demographic every single day! You clearly don’t care about them.

And if the next pandemic that comes along is a TRUE killer, may I ask how governments are going to pay for that with all the money squandered on this one and all the lost revenue from taxes?

Economics may seem a philistine concern to you but start thinking about why things are REALLY openIng up all over the world. Governments want their tax money and it hasn’t been flowing in lately.

That is the truth of the matter and not all your piety nor insults to me are going to change that even a little bit.
