However many deaths happen from Covid, we won't forget that when Trump closed travel from China YOUR presidential candidate said Trump was overreacting and being racist.

And then YOUR despicable governor sent Covid patients to stay in nursing homes knowing that the elderly are more susceptible to Covid.

 

All you do is lie @shootersa. Trump did not ban people coming in from China. More than 40,000 came in after the ban.

Which was pretty much worthless because COVID 19 was coming in from the EU.

And maybe if Trump wasn't telling the country there was nothing to worry about other politicians might have reacted differently.

The principle objection to open borders is that any border crossing which doesn't include an overwhelming chance of death, is an open border. Any border crossing where a person can avail themselves of US laws concerning political asylum and not face separation from their family, each going to a separate prison, is an open border. An open border is any border that does not deter anyone except the President's in-laws from even thinking about trying to get in.

Be specific: how you gonna fix immigration, did you have the authority?

 

Given that there are no quick fixes ....
If we take the Honduras which is pertinent to the particular conversation of illegal immigration flow into the US.
Is there not a logic to making the prospect of it's people staying in the Honduras a better option.
Agriculture is the mainstay of the economy ergo the Honduran people need to profit more from it.
Therefore it's shrimp, coffee, bananas etc should fetch a more realistic price rather than be artificially depressed by our
demand both for cheap food & big dividends for our agri-businesses.
Keep more money where it's actually, desperately needed, encourage democratic civil society.
Slightly more expensive coffee, slightly smaller dividend payments, fewer desperate wannabe illegal immigrants.
Less tax $ spent on policing borders & the like. Less need for "aid".

Of course there is no magic wand but nor is there an esoteric disconnect between greed & desperation.
One way or another we pay anyway. I know this is (necessarily in fairness) over simplistic but I'm trying to paint an outline idea/approach.
We can of course effect this - we are both the consumer & at least in part (via our pension funds etc) the investor.
It's simply whether we actually want to.
Or we can continue to raise our blood pressure, literally call to arms & build huge barriers because of desperate "aliens"
