elliot hit a part of the arnco that jutted out with a mound of dirt behind it and then went back out as far as the track he was bumped from behind and send sliding into the inner arnco barrer, the track i beleave is part at fault as if the arnco was all ligned up down the back it would of never been so sevear of a wreck, he prased the car as he just said he had his breath taken away from him, wtg gregg biffle as he won it as the last he took only two tires and beat everyone to the finsh by 4-5 seconds

 

If that section of the wall had been aligned with the rest of the stretch, I would wonder where Elliot would have ended up, as that portion of the wall was installed to protect the infield passage from the back stretch. Truly the track needs to redo the inner wall in that area.

If this had occurred 8 or 9 years ago, there's a better than even chance we would be mourning the loss of another driver. Hitting the wall head on, or even partially off head on, at 170+ mph is deadly. Thank goodness for the added safety features of the car and the harnesses.

 

In 1989 I watched Grant Adcox hit the wall in Atlanta, a far softer hit than Sadler has yesterday, but Adcox died in the car from injuries suffered when his seat came loose. (He also suffered an injury caused heart attack)

Dale Sr. died in a similar hit, there is still the theory that his seat and harness were improperly installed and were faulty.

Rules are one factor, but I think that safety inspections are much tougher now.

 

elliot said that the safty features are much better in the cars now days than even a couple of years ago, as someone who has raced before i will say even in the series i raced in they are requireing the same safty as nascar all but the carbon fiber seats as they can cost over 10k but the frame of the car is the same

 

Do you remember when they raced convertibles on the beach?

 

i remember that the brickyard was not the first nascar races in indy as there use to be a small dirt oval just south of the ims track and in the 50's and 60's the nascar grand nationals ran there

Had dinner a year os so ago at the North Turn Bar/Rest., they had a Chrysler 300 convertible stock car on display at the beach. Except for the roll bar it was a purely stock automobile.

Ambrose won the Nationwide race yesterday at the Glen, in fact, he dominated...

Todd Bodine won the guitar last night when the trucks raced at Nashville...

Nascar isn't a real sport and you all know it.

 

So, Joey Logano loses it a bit, taps Ryan Newman and Newman gets pissed enough to confront Logano? Hmmm, seems Newman has decided to take on the old persona of Smoke, since Smoke has to be more than just a driver anymore. The least any of them can do is check the damn replay before going off half-cocked, but that's too damn logical. Unarguably Logano is in way over his head as I don't think the boy was or is quite read for the big show. But, I use to have way more respect for Newman. Alas, rubbing is racing and it ended up the way it did.

In the end, Harvick was definitely in a class of his own the last 50 laps or so. His car was a rocket, especially after getting some laps under it. Kudos to Harvick and the SHell 29 team. Come 2011, you do realize, his sponsor is going to be Budweiser?
