Cheating....means Cheating... is lying, being in a relationship with someone who you share everything with, for many years...

Then speaking to an ex, and lying about your relationship....I'm sorry that is definitely cheating.... exchanging sexual texts....

If you have to do it behind your partners back and lie about it, you are cheating. It may be financial, like buying a couple of new golf clubs and hiding the receipts. It might really be a "just friends" thing, but if you can't tell your partner about your new friend from work because he "might" get upset, then you definitely SHOULD tell your partner. But definitely anything sexual that's non consensual and you have to hide IF it is a activity that leads to sexual arousal or builds a relationship. I qualified that with an "IF" because some people need to be able to go online and talk about the things in their life they can't share with their spouse. I don't think its cheating if you have some "peculiarities", cant tell your spouse, and just need to talk things out with like minded folks occasionally ( as long as you aren't doing anything sexual). Not everyone can be completely honest about themselves with a partner, because not all partners are open minded and reasonable LOL. It was my wife's idea for me to come to places like this to discuss my homoeroticisms or bi sexuality, because she was cool enough to tell... not everyone is that lucky .
Example.. My ex wife and I lived a sexually creative lifestyle for several years, and what we did without each other was OK as long we knew and approved. My girl went on a weekend trip with a male friend, a guy that we had played with sexually as a group, but she knew without a doubt that it was NOT OK for her to have a sexual relationship with him away from me. They were staying at his Mom's LOL, and the first night there he walked in on her right after she showered, pulled off her towel pushed over the bed and fucked her. She told me when she got home, and he had forced her, but she had NOT objected, she didn't want to ruin their friendship. That was the first time she "cheated" on me, and it DID ruin the friendship because he was no longer MY friend, and my wife and I had a little talk about which was more important, saying NO to him and potentially ruining the friendship, when he damn well knew she only played sexually with me around, or putting her friendship with him ahead of me. It might seem a little thing, since we already were playing outside the box sexually, but it wasn't.. that's another story.

 

if you have to ask if something is cheating it probably is. If you wouldn't do it around your significant other, or tell them about it, and feel the need to keep it a secret, then it's cheating.

 

I have cheated on my wife with other men. Didn't feel good about it. Just couldn't help myself.

cheating is breaking any of the agreed upon rules.... in a marriage that means no other playmates unless it has been agreed upon.....

For some couples it means they can't have lunch with a member of the opposite sex unless the other is there.
For some, it's whatever feels good.
Some couples want to hear all the details of their partner's fun times with others and some are "I know you're doing it, I just don't want to hear about it."
You know the boundaries of your relationship. As stated by others, if you have to ask and/or you can't tell your partner, you already know the answer.

I consider cheating to be when my partner is having sex with a member of the same gender. If she wants to have sex with another woman then that's fine by me.

I consider getting off chatting with others, without their spouse or partners knowledge cheating. It may only be harmless fun, but if you're keeping it a secret, I consider it cheating
