  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

My 4x4s are automatic. But had many manual transmission vehicles. Miss my 68 Chevy camper special 3 on the tree. Straight pipes and had the 350 motor.

Not sure driving a vehicle with a stick is very safe lol I'll stick with the gear lever rather than an automatic.....

    Automatic.

Drove a manual Miata once and stalled it 12 times backing out of my driveway.

I tried the flappy paddle shifters in my Mustang once, but it has 10 gears and I had no clue which gear it was in or should be in. The engine made some terrible sounds, everyone on the sidewalk stopped and stared at me, so I put it back in D and went on my way.

Paddle shift is not a stick! If you don't have a clutch peddle you are not driving a stick shift ! Manually shifting an automatic does not count !

How could they possibly have higher maint costs? Thats Bullshit !

I might go for the gas mileage argument, but not the lower maint argument, that part does not wash! I have never done any maint with a manual other than replace a $100 clutch once in a while. Automatic requires regular service , a manual does not.

Manuals have always been better for gas mileage and performance, mainly because they are lighter and had an extra gear or two.

Now it's the opposite, 10 speed automatics vs 6 speed manual.

Its really all in the gearing of the trans and rear pumpkin! Not getting enough OD from 5th/6th gear, but still have lots of power, tall up the pumpkin some more!

My Wrangler is a stick, and my Cherokee is an automatic. The Gladiator (when I get it) will be automatic.

Took my drivers test with a stick 30 years ago. I like driving manuals as I find them to be more fun. It is hard to find a car that has a manual trans now. I do not think it even an option with the New Corvettes.

I think Corvettes have a dual clutch automatic, which is what most of the supercars have now. Instant shifts.

Always drove manual’s. Got my first automatic and love it. I do miss the day to day interactivness you get with a manual and the tranistion through gears but for long distance driving its a lot better.

Shooter insisted both of his kids know how to drive a stick before they got their license.
Both have thanked Shooter for making them learn.

Course, the public hasn't always appreciated being around someone learning to drive a stick.
Especially if they happen to be behind the student on a hill.

Thats where I had an advantage, I learned to drive a stick on the farm, First on tractors, then the farm trucks! As kids me and my friends learned how to drive in the farm pastures and were ready for the road long before we were actually old enough to legally drive.

    No. Women have a cockpit.
    They do not drive sticks.
    Ride them maybe.

A girl once told Shooter she preferred a stick shift.
She said it was a control issue with her.

Shooter always wondered what she meant by that.
      Then he saw her car.

Depends on the car. I have a 71 olds with an auto, that car would be more fun with a four speed. Most newer cars the modern autos perform better, but I still would enjoy a mustang or camaro with a 6 speed, so for fun ill take a stick. In a daily driver, I really would not want a stick

In my teens and 20's it was stick on Honda Civics... I don't know if it's my imagination, but traffic seems to get worse every year. It also seems less and less manufacturers offer a manual transmission. All this to say my daily driver is an automatic, but I get my gear shifting pleasure from my motorcycle now...

When I bought my house, a Dodge Ram came with it, owner didn't want "that old truck" they were going to have it towed off but I insisted they leave it. Its actually in pretty great condition for a near 20 year old truck. Since I got it more or less free, I've been driving and putting some money in it. The Automatic has puked out. I've got it all pulled out, but I'm leaning toward spending almost $3 grand to put a 5 or 6 speed stick in it ( all new stuff ) I might be able to cut a few corners finding used stuff in Junkyards like the Flywheel, bell housing, clutch pedal, even the trans. Manual Trans stuff you really have to look for ! I prefer to push and shove any day !

I've been driving stick for... probably over 3 years now. Previously, I learned how to drive stick in a big pickup truck. Now I drive a compact car, so I kinda had to re-learn it a bit, but I knew enough to get around. Now it's second nature to me. I can drive it smoother than an automatic, and I don't even need the clutch to shift gears. I got it because it was the cheapest vehicle I could find at the time that wasn't a complete piece of crap. Now, I'll be sticking to stick shift as long as possible, for a number of reasons. They're generally cheaper outright, cheaper to maintain, simpler (less things that can break), they give you more control, they are/were better on gas (until recent advancements for automatic transmissions anyway), and at least in the US it's pretty handy theft protection because most dumb crooks can't drive stick. That said, I don't have much of an issue with traditional automatics, but I avoid CVTs like the plague...

I learned how to drive in the hayfield in a 1960. Chevy pickup. Had a 283 out of a modified in it. I could barely reach the peddles but that thing would go
