When I haven't had an orgasm in a while, I will have an erotic dream and will wake up mid-orgasm, panting and lying there until I catch my breath.

I've always wondered if guys sleep through the orgasm and wake up finding a wet spot, or of they are aware they are cumming?

I usually woke up just as I was starting to ejaculate.
Occasionally, I would wake up mid-stream.
It doesn't necessarily mean you were having an erotic dream. It's mostly the hormones trying to level themselves.

It wasn't easy to answer because I don't wake up quickly. What I remember is that almost all the time I start to become conscious that I am having a sex dream when the feelings are strong.
