  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

    Best regards,

Migraine headaches have an initial warning sensation. That is caused by the blood vessels in the head constricting.

The migraine begins when they rebound and expand and stay that way for hours.

I learned this from all my internet research on them. Nowhere was there any indication of an effective surefire method of stopping one. The OTC roll-on medication for the forehead, helps, and an ice pack on the neck and a cold towel on the head also help but do not stop it.

I reasoned that a VASOCONSTRICTOR would stop one in short order. I also knew that licorice is a vasoconstrictor. I knew this because I was cautioned not to eat licorice after my heart bypass and I found out by my research that it was a vasoconstrictor, and I take nitroglycerine to do the opposite.

So Cynthia bought a box of GOOD AND PLENTY LICORICE CANDY (you must only use real licorice, not artificial licorice flavored because it won't work.)

Tonight before we went out she started getting one, and took a handful of the candy to see if it would work. HER MIGRAINE WAS STOPPED DEAD IN ITS TRACKS IN TEN MINUTES AND NEVER RETURNED.

Why hasn't the medical profession ever discovered this?
The FDA says ONLY DRUGS CAN CURE A DISEASE.

I should get a Nobel Prize for this discovery, but of course I won't since I don't belong to the elite establishment.

And guess what, the manufacturer, if they knew about this, is forbidden to print anything about it on their packages because ONLY A DRUG CAN CURE A DISEASE.

So I ask all of you reading this to spread the word to any migraine sufferers you know, and let them prove it too.
Gee stop a migraine for less than $2.00 and the package should be good for at least 5. 40cents per migraine.
The drug companies will hate to have this known.

Thank you for sharing this info, Lainie...

Like you said, it has to be real licorice (Licorice root is an herb, which can be hard to find)...

There is also something to be aware of ....

In 1/3 of people it raises their blood pressure... not a good thing if you have high blood pressure.....

I've read that, too, Binky. Licorice was also named one of the top two arousing scents or flavors to women in a scientific smell study. No wonder Good n' Plenty was always my favorite candy!!

Well, this absolutely blows for me then... I get migraines every now and then. Usually, I can tell how bad they're going to be because I see an intense light usually a few minutes before I have migraines.

Now the reason why this blows for me: I hate licorice. Can't stand it. Real or artificial, I can't stand it, I throw up every time I eat anything licorice related because it tastes that bad to me.

What's even worse is aspirin in almost any label has no effect on on me so i can't even seek minor relief.

But I get through my migraines. Usually I'll just lay down and chill until it dissipates. Though, I remember one time, I had a fairly nasty migraine and I was already frustrated at something so a migraine made me more mad. Anyway, out of frustration, I punched my head rather hard... The pain increases for like five seconds, but after that, my migraine felt like a normal everyday headache...

    Weird...

Casa Dan that sucks. If we can find out WHAT in licorice is the vasoconstrictor and find something else with the same ingredient, it should work also.

Further info from our own experiences: Cynthia woke with a migraine this morning. In other words it had already started. She took the licorice. It didn't stop it like it did when she hit it at onset, but it DID keep it from getting any worse all day.

went to google for liquorice, licorice, and also the active ingredient. No other sources found for the active glycyrrhiza. Also search it on google.

50mg daily for 2 weeks will significantly raise blod pressure. So the amount taken to rid a migraine would not have much effect.

Just as nitroglycerine opens the vascular system, vasoconstrictors close down or constrict the vascular system. Mind we are talking about small doses here, and it appears the major vasoconstricting takes place in the head where it is needed just as many other healing things also do.

I can easily lower my blood pressure with 2 nitroglycerine patches and 1 to 3 sublingual tablets. Some people would get headaches from that but I don't. I can drop it from 176/87 to 130/65 that way.

We may do some blood pressure measurements on the licorice effect.

I just saw a blood pressure article that says you should take it 3 times in a row and the average of the 2nd and 3rd times is the real blood pressure. This is contrary to everything I have ever seen and what the nurses at the doctor's office tell me. Also what the manual that came with the blood pressure machine says. It says wait 15 minutes between taking it again.
