  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

This. This is an amazing car. Both of them. But, I prefer the old one (in the back)

I have the luxury of driving one one time, and the old man let me take it onto an old straight road. I had it up to 170. What a beautiful car. New ones are just as good or better, as well.

    *in love*

    Good old American cars.

    Best Car

Thanks, I see someone got the Idea, We are right on the threashold of being forced into major change in what we buy and drive. I say that from the point of some one that does not have millions to burn, or even thousands..

I hear Lexus, I hear Toyota, and some one said he would keep his Merc.. but did not say which one he had..

It can be very stupid to overspend for any reason, and the automobile is second only to some home buyers. Several cars shown, or mentioned are way past any form of reason as far as purchase price. Then there are some that will end up costing way too much for repair, Then there are those that take a months wages to insure. Gas milage is no problem if you are rich, but that is part of a practical car..

From those so far,, the Lexus, and the Toyota, who is it that makes the lexus?? Some one mentioned the German car makers,, and yes they have made great strides to keep up with Japan. Audi, and their new engines,, look great.

In the era of the oil embargo 1970+ Great strides were made on fuel economy and polution control. The Gov screwed up the CAFE standards and now we are looking for another strict gas milage legislation. yes some of the hybrids will probably already meet any new legislation.. Most of the China, Japan, Korean, Argetina, some German will probably slip under the milage thing for a few years. But USA will be forced to wake up like in the 70's and make econo cars. Ford, GM, and Chrysler will run out of lobby dollars.

The american companys have stuck with the gas hogs so long that it will be difficult for them, even for the next 20 years..

Some priviteer had one set up for road racing, and ran at Road Atlanta, same year as Paul Newman was running a lotus sedan..(can't remember which one it was)

Lexus is made by Toyota. Originally released in America as competition against the American made companies. Now the name brand is worldwide.

released as mid to upper end priced vehicles

why, oh why have sales in hybrid/electric vehicles dropped dramatically in america....? it will be the way of the future for the average person....

    V12's are nice, but that car weighs an honest 1790Kg. 0-100Km time of 6.8 seconds...that's like a stock honda civic. Forester XT STi 0-100Km = around 5 seconds...From a 2.5 litre H-4. Wagons Rule!

the Car was fully prep'd as much as an priviteer could,, I would guess that it was very light as compared to the stock version.. I would also guess that the engine was not touched except for headers, which sounded, as if they were chocking the engine..

the WTX, (I think that is what you listed) Is it not AWD? or am I mixing up different cars... the Rally car, with the potent boxer engine was always a desire of mine.. My rally days were in the Mini Cooper 1275 S. That was long ago..

Without a doubt if that car was well prepared, it would be one potent machine. The only problem with prepping a car like that is lack of resources due to the limited production of that vehicle. As for the "WTX," I posted a Forester tuned by the in house tuner STi. (Subaru Technica International) Much like TRD for Toyota. All Subaru's come with AWD standard, and in the WRX is a very potent 2.5 litre turbocharged boxer engine. Put that together with a handful of suspension mods and maybe an inexpensive exhaust system and you have a decent rally machine almose right out of the box.

The WRX was my dream car till I found out it's price.. My brother has one out in Oregon. He tells me that is not a car you work on your self.. Tells a story about busting a muffler (he lives on a mountain top) up the road to his house.. Patched it, and the car would not run.... Dealer had to reset all the electronics..

Beautiful cars, expensive cars, expensive maintenance. Can't believe no one mentioned Hyundai (ducking). My own experience is that the 1982 Excel was one of the most trouble-free cars I have ever seen. It went 130,000 miles before it even had one leaky hose, in weather that is typically 120 degrees F in the summer.

I do my own maintenance (except rebulding transmissions), take the heads off and to a machine shop. I have driven a 1970 Pontiac 240,000 miles, a 1964 Valiant 260,000 miles. I still have a 1978 Ford Fairmont, a 1977 Cordoba, and a 1975 Cordoba. My "new" cars are a 1997 Dodge Neon and a 1995 Buick Regal.

I know people with these super and expensive cars, their shop time is vastly more than mine.

The safety figures and new car service figures (unless they are lying) show Hyundai to be the safest and most troublefree cars, and they dont cost $50,000 or more.

I had a friend a few years that bought a new $70,000 Lexus and was bragging about and that he paid cash. (I thought is that dumb or what).

Great; you are getting into the real car and the real cost of a car per it's usefull miles.. And without ever owning one,, I have to agree that the Hyundai is right at the top.. and it has gone from last to first in a very short time.. Another thing you must remember!!! If you have a newer car.. 1998 or later you will run into some manditory shop time, for a lot of the maitanance is electronic. and that means bigger bucks..

I too keep only what I can service myself.. I have a 1994 dodge van that has 870,000 miles, and just came back from a 2000 mile trip through the midwest on a E85 project.. I drove close to the speedlimit or a little below and made 18 mpg.. but again I was carrying over 2000 pounds extra. The 1979 pinto I have is at 80,000 miles and I have squeezed 40mpg out of it.. it needs a new fuel pump.. cost less than $20.00 Time to replace about half an hour.. Or local mechanic $35.00
