Given the level of grammar/spelling on this site, I'd say it's about time someone addressed the reason why kids are too psychologically damaged to even attempt to learn.

 

lol one of my schools had the same red-pen policy... used green instead... they thought it was a way to "go forward(=green light)" instead of "holding us back(=red light)" haha

 

yeah ive heard about this, a lot of schools are switching to purple or some other color instead of red. however in my opinion it doesnt matter red green blue purple it doesnt matter if you turn in a paper and get it back with a bunch of marks saying how bad it is, it is depressing regardless of the color they used to say your an idiot.

I mark in green because I don't like the look of the red pen. I find red hard to read.

 

They did this at my school when I was there during the last year or so of it.

The conclusions seem silly to me, never got to me, I used red pen too.
I have read that a red room can work on one, if they spend too much time in it, breeds disturbance, or aggression, so they say.

 

When I was taking education classes I had an instructor that refused to use a red pen and suggested we not use them either for some of the reasons mentioned here.

And when I was substituting for a fifth grade class for the last few months of a school year I took a different approach especially on tests. I just marked the correct answer on every question and the student could compare their answer to the correct one.

A very weird thing happened. It initially really upset some competitive kids in the class because they had a practice of glancing at other students papers to see how many questions they missed so they could compare that to their tests.

On the other hand it seemed to help the students who were struggling because their papers looked just like everyone else.

I thought it was a better way to go.
