  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

    Best regards,

    StanleyOG.

I've been having some real computer issues lately, mostly no matter what I do all my memory is used up. I've also lost all my good internet access and have to depend on by chickenshit verizon wireless connection.

And if that isn't the shit enough I've been noticing I seem to always be waiting on google analytical.com and I don't even know what the hell that is.

Anybody know anything about this or how to get rid of it?

Don't tempt me. I don't need kerosene. I've got a couple thousand barrels of condensate at my disposal not to mention several billion cubic feet of natural gas. And at work its been all I can do to keep from throwing it out my truck window and driving over it.

"Google Analytics makes it easy to improve your results online. Write better ads, strengthen your marketing initiatives, and create higher-converting..."

search on google for "google analytics", i'm not allowed to post links yet :(

But i'm not sure that will solve your problem. Maybe just do a format and reinstall your windows?

I've been having a look at this problem Stumbly. My first thought was a Firefox addon called "No script" which allows you to control what a webpage is allowed to run. Unfortunately, it seems recently that the person who created it, has been using that program, to hack into adblock plus (another FF addon) and disable some of the ad options it blocks. So I won't be recommending that.

    Instead, what I'd suggest is installing adblock plus. Here's the link;

    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865

    Once you've done that, you can add a couple of useful filters, one of which blocks tracking and analytical filters, the other, ads of all kinds. Here is the link to those;

    http://easylist.adblockplus.org/

If you look at the left hand side, you'll see "add easylist" -that's the ad-blocking one. Below it, is "add easyprivacy". I believe this blocks tracking websites such as Google analytics.

While I haven't yet tried Easyprivacy, I can personally vouch for Easylist (the ad blocking list) and Adblockplus generally as an excellent addition to Firefox. Once you have it, you'll wonder how you ever did without it.

As for the memory issue on your laptop - I'm working on that one! ;)

    Hope that helps, Stumbly!

Bye for now - Fluffy McNoo. :)

The memory problem - I'd recommend a comprehensive sweep with the virus-scanner/spyware-scanner-general-nasties-scanner of your choice. Run the most detailed scan there is; do this over night.

If you've not restarted the machine in a few days, do this too. Depending on the make and capabilities of your computer, the machine may become 'grouchy' after a few days without being shut down, for a variety of reasons.

Open up task manager and check that there aren't any programs using an inordinate amount of memory - possibly tasks that you thought you had stopped, but in actuality are still running in the background.

Beyond that, I don't really know. Fluffy's your man - and if he can't help, I'd recommend dropping it down to the drilling face.

Firstly, thanks for the compliment! *warmly smiling*

You know, darned if I can get my teeth into the memory problem exactly. Tried checking his task manager, his processes were using about 115K of 450K. Pulled a truckload of spyware off his laptop. That helped, but didn't fix it. Figured it was a problem with memory leakage - Vista had issues with those - but he's got service pack one, and it was fixed in that. Okay he's running Vista on a laptop of 450K, which is really, really not good for such a memory hog, but he's also got a 4Gb memory stick and readyboost running. Darned thing didn't move an inch... would you believe he's sometimes got 0K memory free, and on a good day, 7K? Not seventy thousand K, or even seven thousand. Seven.

I'm going to try brute force tactics next, go after his free memory with a ram cleaner program, and see what I can do with getting any more junk off his system. I might be there's something still on there that's screwing with his memory, that previous scans have missed. *grins* I always did like a challenge... but whatever machine Stumbly ends up with next, I plan on doing prevention to it, rather than cure! ;)

And if after everything I do to it, I can't get it working... time to do my "destroying of worlds" on a laptop! :excited:

Thanks Fluffy I love you man/dog and not in a gay or bestiality way.:)

I'll see if I can get these downloaded.

Fluffy set me up with some really good spy ware and anti virus. We scanned the shit out of things and got a ton of stuff my computer.

Its running better but still has to switch off between programs because of the memory deal.

And right now I'm also having so much with an oil and gas separator out here I've got a notion to thrown this computer in that separator and then throw a match in the separator.

Google sucks. The only thing on my computer that their shit is even remotely attached to is my browser, and that's because its developers programmed it into the search bar, which I've disabled.

Google. When a business makes it it's business to know your business, even when you don't even use it's business, that's a business that needs to mind it's own darn business!:confused::excited:

Well so long as it's only sexual, and nothing sordid or perverted, that's fine by me Stumbly. :excited:

Oh I've got quite a few more scans lined up for that laptop of yours *grins* Anti rootkit scans, virus scans, spyware scans... the works!

No problem! *wagging his tail cheerfully* I like finding solutions to problems like this - never know when the information will come in handy!

Yay! Someone else who doesn't like Google and it's practises! :) (I'm guessing you're running Opera as a browser?) I don't even use Google as a search engine unless all else fails, and on the rare occasion I'm left no choice, I always run it through a proxy specially developed to block Google's desire to store everything about everyone. The search engine I usually use, doesn't even store personal information, and can even block ISP snooping. Now that's privacy... and it's a good search engine too. :)

Care to share your tactics? You can send me a private message or email, that's up to you. As for my browser, I've never used Opera; I'm quite fond of Firefox, though. ;)

Hey Fluffy, you really seem to know your way around a pc, I, on the other hand, seem just barely able to find my way around the keyboard :excited:

I was wondering if I could ask a favour of you? Somehow or other (pilot error, I have no doubt) Windows explorer doesn't load in the Task Manager automatically and I have to load it manually after startup. I suspect the it may have become corrupted and inadvertently erased. I have been trying to figure out how to reset it but regedit just looks like Greek to me. Any hints?

My first suggestion would be doing a system restore to before you experienced the problem. (It's amazing how often that fixes seemingly unsolvable issues!)

If that doesn't work click on START then RUN and then in the box that appear type "sfc /scannow" (no quotes and with the space between sfc and /). It will check your windows install to see if files are corrupted and then ask you for the windows disk to fix it.

Then you can try going to the disk on boot up and selecting REPAIR.

    *warmly* Hope that helps!

Fluffy, you are a star! Unfortunately system restore has been hijacked and does not go to any date earlier with the valid settings. But I think your tip for using run etc would solve the problem. Now, to try and locate a copy of windows on disk:excited:

So if you could give me the details of your dog dish I will make a deposit of 100 snackos ;)

Hmm... you might want to wander past these places before you go doing anything else with your PC. Just to make sure you're spyware and virus free.

Just out of interest, what kind of anti-spyware/anti virus are you running?

As for chocolates *big grin* no amount too big, or too huge! ;)
