I found a guy who was MUCH older and experienced than i was and the was 6 years ago. It must not be an illusion, ya think?. You cant help who you love and like somebody else said, age is just a number

so just get over it and let people choose for them selves

 

by all means do, and if you're really in love then its a perfectly good decision. The point i am trying to make, though, is that if your 20 and a 15 year old says they want to go to bed with you you shouldn't take it at face value. perhaps they are mature enough to make that decision but there's just as much chance that they aren't. and yea you can say that it doesn't matter how old you are you can still be immature, but at least you'll have gotten to know other people and yourself, so that you can make a choice to be proud of about who you want to be your first. its not really my place to tell anyone not to do something if both people consent, but i have met a few people who have deeply regreted who they lost their virginity to, all of whom lost it around that age and to older guys.

 

No I'm saying there's a big difference between an 18 or 19 year old boy in a relationship with a 15 or 16 year old and say a 25 year old man with a 15 year old girl. Some people in here are acting like as soon as a boy turns 18 he magically is a grown man and way too old and mature for a 15 year old. I say bullocks!

people talk like the law has been around for ever, when in fact most child protection laws (including the age of consent) were only introduced in the 1940`s and later.

What did we do before that! did the world fall apart? NO
so do we really need the law?

to stop people forcing children into sex YES we do.
To stop people of a similar age dating enjoying life and having sex NO

To be honest in a world where parents care more about work and gizmos then they do about there children, What can we expect. the state will have to protect those that have no protection from family and friends.

And before anyony yells at me for blaming parents.
1) you had the children.
2) you were old enough and wise enough to make the choice.
3) now take the bloody responsibilaty for your actions.
4) stop expecting the state to bring up your chidren for you.

As you may have noticed from the responses thus far, most folks tend to project thir own experience and emotion into a question like this and answer from a point-of-view that is singularly personal. I do not believe there could possibly be a universal answer to this question, as each person will have their own set of circumstances, their own level of development, their own self-awareness (or lack thereof) . . . I suggest spending less time worrying about what "they" say is 'wrong' or 'right', think awhile about the matter, and make your own decision.

question- Miley Cyrus is 16, 17 years old, right? her boyfriend is 20 years old. they're public, it's in the tabloids, she's "old for her age", looks older, has a career, etc. is the only thing that makes their relationship legal the fact that they've never admitted to having sex?

and a friend of mine (who has issues with dating older girls) is 26 and is dating a 17 year old. they're also public. is this only a law issue if the parents have a problem with it?

 

i think its a bit hard on some people, years ago my friend were in a club we was boh 20, and my friend got with this girl and took her home, I swear she looked at least 18-19, but my friend saw her in a school uniform a few days later, they had already planned to meet again, turns out she had just turned 15 and my friend freaked and told her he wouldnt see her again and she threatened to tell the police, it was quite a bad situation, luckily she gave up on the idea. Seems like these days you gotta see their birth certificate to make sure you know their age lol

 

My opinion has nothing to do with 18 yr old having sex with 15 yr old. My opinion is more of introduction of sex at young age.

Personally I think the problem with early introduction of sex is that although their physical body has reached puberty, but their mind is still developing. Adults like us understand and will enjoy sex responsibility, but most of the teenagers are not mature enough to make serious decisions on this matter.
I had a friend who thought he knew true love, because "he has been with this girl for 3 years", and decided to have a kid at age of 17. Later that year his girlfriend cheated on him, and right now he is out of school, working 2 jobs to pay the child support.
I'm not saying all the teenagers are incapable of making serious decisions, but most are not capable of planning the long runs.
Moreover, even if they do have the ability to plan for their future, they will most likely unable to take the responsibilities that adults are capable of. In the end, it always leaves to their parents or the tax payers to raise their kids because they were immature and misinformed.

At least your position is consistent. I can't for the life of me figure out why someone would think it was okay for a teenager to have sex with someone his or her own age, but NOT okay for a teenager to have sex with someone older. Either they're capable of making that decision or they're not, and we may legitimately differ on how old is old enough.

what I dont understand and it makes me kinda mad is: my wife and I dated since I was 15 and she was 14 we are 6 months in age diference. So when I turned 18 and she was 17 if her parents didnt like me they could have had me locked up and then I would have to regester as a sex affender. thank god that never happened, but how many times has this happened and ruined a guys or girls life just because of a year difference.

 

i think it is so wierd i had sex with a 24 year old and i am just 16

Honestly, I'm 21... I have a ypunger girlfriend... (legal where I am)... she insists that she's ready and wants me to take her virginity. I don't want to... at least not yet... we've only been together about two months and I'm not willing to do that until she understands the full weight of it. She is not 15 btw... but the difference is what some would consider wrong... we don't... I just don't want to do that if she's not ready.

depends, i think 15 is a lil young but pretty soon my girlfriend will be turing 18 but for the past basically year and a half she hasn't been and im almost 20
