Four Police Officers Gunned Down in Washington State Today.

It is this kind of senseless shooting that fuels the anti-handgun argument.If these types of crimes continue,it will be all the reason they need to disarm law abiding citizens.

 

WE had one here last week shot by four young bastard men. They do have them in custody.

Remember this and it is true I think: If guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns (except the cops and military.)

A number of years ago an ex marine in Stockton CA took his gun to a schoolyard and gunned down a number of kids.

 

Hm... Maybe only certain people shouldn't be allowed guns...

 

It is sad what happened to the officers, and my heart and prayers go out to the family. It is a senseless act that brings only pain to those that survive.

...yet there is a small part of me that can't deny the amusing irony that it all happened at a donut shop. D'oh!

 

Perhaps banning on duty officers from eating donuts may very well be the answer.

 

Actually it was a coffee shop and not that far from my house.
My heart breaks for their families. I can't imagine what they must be going through.

 

I hope they catch the bastard who did this, trying to become an officer myself so it hits close to home for me.

The ripple effect from this will cross the Nation.
In this day and age,most of us honor those brave enough to stand up and make a difference.When some asshole comes along and shoots our faithful servants,it kind of makes the Officers a bit jumpy and innocent people could end up getting shot.

 

I didn't think about that, but it makes sense. *sigh*
Sometimes the world is just a screwed up place.

This is why it's getting harder to find police that are nice when there on duty, there all worried about what you may do.

 

My condolences to the officers families.

After the Dunblane attack in Scotland in the early '90s (where a mad man gunned down children in a school with licenced firearms) all pistols over .22 calbre were made illegal to own in Brittain. As you state only criminals and police have guns over here and gun crimes have been steadily increasing not decreasing. Leaving me to believe that it is not fully licenced gun owners that commit crimes but the unlicenced ones.

 

This guy has a long and violent history, having committed an armed robbery within the past year. He's also out on bail for the rape of a child. So, what I'd like to know is:

A) Did the prosecutor's office fail to bring this to the judge's attention when he was being arraigned for the rape?

or

B) Was it one of those bleeding heart judges who disregarded the prosecutorial evidence?

Either way, someone not only needs to lose their job but be banned from employment for life.

What the hell is going on in Washington state? Don't they believe in locking up violent criminals?

This shooter should never have been let out of prison in the first place. Now 4 innocent people are murdered.

Great thread. This needs to be talked about.

You know James, man, I'm just not seeing any renewed effort to take our guns away. And in this case those who contend they have a right to have a gun for their own protection and laws against gun ownership don't work win hands down. Obviously it was against the law for this guy to have a gun.

Let's look at that ripple effect but take even a couple more steps back. Could this be signs and symptoms of something else? Right now we as a nation are living in an economic, political, and moral pressure cooker and it might be naive to think that some people can stand those social stresses without breaking. And as diverse as our nation is there is no end and no telling how reacting to those pressures might manifest themselves.

Another thing that I think is really important to know is if this is an isolated incident or a new trend? Our mass murders tend to take that tract with each subsequent murder being worse than the last.

And last but not least we need to be willing to look at the police officers and department to see if there are problems there. I live next to a reservation, and for decades the BIA stationed policemen from other tribes in the police force out there. The government's reasoning was that family and tribal bonds are seen as much more important than laws, and police officers from the same tribes could not be trusted to enforce the law impartially.

So instead they take people from other tribes, who in some cases they've already been enemies with for 1,000 years, and put them in the position of lone police power. And quite naturally this created the same environment that was psychologically tested in the Stanford County Jail experiment. Except instead of being canceled after six days because the guards had become too abusive this jail went on for decades. They even made national TV with a video tape of a woman spitting on one of the officers and the officer beating her like he was Mike Tyson.

But nothing changed until one "criminal" element cut out all the middle men and just pulled up broadside to the police station and pumped about 100 bullets into it and took off. None of these guys had been a serious criminal prior to this but you don't get more serious than attempted murder of police officers. Which was of course was the dirty little "secret" about the whole deal. All the police officers (even the white ones) knew that these five guys did not intend to kill anyone. If they had intended to kill them they would have, not just shoot the place up as their way of saying they weren't going to take it any more.

Chances are this is an isolated incident. But considering the amount of pressure our society is under I always worry that we may see a horrifying display of reactions to that pressure.
