There's two things you're overlooking about Jimmy Carter. He was crippled by a national oil conspiracy that created false shortages, sent energy costs soaring when we were already facing run away inflation after Richard Nixon.

The other thing is that Jimmy Carter was punished for telling the American people the truth and Ronald Reagan was rewarded for lying to us.

Oh yeah, you betcha those tea baggers are a force to be reckoned with. They got to represent somewhere upwards of 1% of the electorate.

Stumbler you can spin it anyway you want but the Nov elections are going to be interesting. I know you believe that this administration has reached out to the GOP but most of America doesn't believe that with the number of closed door meetings. This administration doesn't believe in compromise, it is their way or the highway as they spin the GOP is the party of NO.

It is really sad that congress cannot fix our health system without all this political bullshit. You'd think that after 200 years that they would understand that both parties need to work together to make meaningful changes. Regardless of what you believe no one party has all the answers. This blame game is getting old and this belief that anyone on the other side is an idiot or worse doesn't hold water. However, I don't think listening to those on the site who have closed minds is the answer.

And yes, Jimmy Carter told the truth as he interrupted it to be but unfortunately he was wrong most of the time. He played a major role in creating many of the problems we are having now, both in the our country and the world in general. Having lived through his presidency you will never convince me otherwise; however, this is America and you can believe what ever you want, at least for the time being.

 

All of Jimmy Carter's problems came from the Iranian Revolution of 1979, for which Carter was not responsible. If the United States had not interfered in Iranian politics in 1953, much of the trouble we have had with the Moslem world would since 1979 not be happening.

Even with the rise in the price of petroleum that followed the Iranian Revolution, there was more job creation under Carter than Ronald Reagan, and the national debt as a percentage of GDP declined.
