In my state is decriminalized, not legal but not illegal either. If it was legalized it would help with the quality of the weed people get. There will be no other chemicals (hopefully) added that could severely effect the health of the user.

However, a case can be made against using it. I have had various employees that have come to work stoned out fo their minds. While their task is somewhat insignificant I can see the damage it does to someone's self-control and ability to operate. If someone of a different position was to be in tha same state the consequences would be far worse. Please do not respond comparing it with Alcohol as that is a truly unfair comment in my opinion. Alcohool is far far easier to detect and smell. In many cases it is harder to detect a stoner (unless he has got a big bag of cheetos in his hands). The ususal signs like red eyes or slownes can easily be contributed to fatigue or lack of sleep.

Oh and baller, your theory of the bong being better for the environement is false. When you exhale you send the same amount of smoke in the air, wheather it is from the bong, the joint or the pipe.

 

Marijuana used to be legal and not all that long ago, it was around the late 60s early 70s that the marijuana prohibition began if I am not mistaken

California has done a lot of ground breaking work on merging MJ as an alternative medicine for use in mainstream society. With their ongoing budget problems, could we see a legalize and tax movement in the near future?

With or without a legalize movement the dismissal of all minor possession would be a huge sigh of relief on the legal system.

 

well, it was more like the 30's. marijuana was legal throughout world war 1, mainly due to the numerous industrial uses of hemp. all drugs were legal at some point, until the government decided to start making decisions for the people (what happened to freedom?). my parents lived in california in the early 70's and could grow a few plants in their yard, but i don't believe it was legal then either, only tolerated. LSD was legal in the early to mid sixties before it was classified a schedule 1 drug.

the hippies have been living green for decades. easiest way to shrink your carbon footprint...plant some trees and start a garden! fresh herbs and veggies and fruits PLUS sucks up the CO2 and gives us fresh O2. even better...plant some marijuana! 1 acre of marijuana produces 10x the oxygen AND paper as an acre of trees. and to go real green, instead of smoking that herb, turn it into a batch of brownies!

I am not a pot smoker, in fact I find it makes me rather paranoid, but I see no reason not to legalize pot as it might reduce the harm done by the hard drugs. If it is to remain illegal, we shouold be looking at cigarettes and liqour as well - should they be made illegal.

 

Stoned people are stupid when they are stoned (and often when they are not). An influx in the availability of cannabis would increase the amount of stoned people, thus (according to the transitive property) increasing the amount of stupid people you run across per day. I say, no thank you.

Not to mention that when anything is made legal the access to it grows exponentially, so I don't want kids having ten times the access to dope that they have now.

P.S. Saying, "well alcohol makes people do dumb things and it's legal," is not an argument at all; good or bad. That is like saying we have shot ourselves in the foot and so we must shoot ourselves in the head. That is like saying that we have taken a wrong turn so we should drive down the wrong road faster. One stupefying substance should make you dread it, not call for more of the same.
