Confederate Flag Always!

I am constantly amazed at the people who assert that the Civil War was fought over, or to retain, slavery. Slaves were expensive and I will bet that there were absolutely no non-commissioned soldiers who ever owned a slave, and only a few officers who actually did. The Civil War was fought over the usurpation of state's rights by a federal government in Washington; i.e., are we going to let Washington D.C. decide how the people of the State of ________ are to govern themselves. Therefore, to those who are offended by the Confederate flag, get over it...I could not care less that you're easily offended. However, what does surprise me is that many so-called "African Americans" (whatever that means) proudly wear the costumes and colors of African countries at many occasions; In doing so I am amazed that they all choose to forget that it was the AFRICAN chiefs of thousands of AFRICAN tribes who actually SOLD their own people to the Dutch to be sold in the west indies, the Caribbean islands and in the colonies.

So, even if one assumes, for purposes of argument only, that the Confederate Flag was the flag of slave owners and deserves the disdain of all, why the hell are African flags (or African colors) as the flag of slave sellers praised by those who claim some offense. So the flags of slave sellers merits some unknown honor as a celebration of a proud heritage in the "motherland", but the flags of slave buyers is racist??? Sorry, but that is pure unadulterated bullshit. Thus, to those offended by the Confederate flag, I can only quote Rowan Atkinson in saying..."I spurn you as I would a rabid dog; I wouldn't trust the lot of you to face the right way on a toilet seat."
BTW the young lady clad in that historic flag is gorgeous!

 

Maybe because the African flags are NOT the flags of slave sellers. There is barely a single African flag in existence that was also in existence at the time of the slave trade.

What Flag?

 

I just can't understand why southerners want to constantly remind themselves of a time that was not all that nice.

This would be the same as me flying a nazi flag, although I am not a nazi, but a german who is prould of his heritage, or a russion flying the flag of the USSR, even though he/she is not proud of the communist regime, but a proud russion. These eras do not define these people, but so many southerners insist on being defined by the confederacy.

If you are actually just a proud southern american, then just fly the american flag along with your state flag.

That flag was never an official flag of the confederacy. It is also wrongfully called the stars and bars. Just wanted to clear that up..its a pet peeve of mine.

well for me the confederate flag represents crimes against humanity,some may say states rights,but I believe no one has the right to own another human being an profit from there labor. the advice I gave my son was,not every white man will be his friend an not every black man will be your enemy judge a man by the content of his character not the color of his skin. :!:

The pic is hot as hell as for the flag since the civil war wasn't over slavery it can't be racist. The south left the union because of states right and the way the fed gov was taxing the states. Lincon didn't believe in slavery but he also didn't think blacks should be in america he freed them with the hope they would find their own land in south america to start a nation.

There's one thing you're forgetting, people. Almost every single soldier on both sides was basically drafted. My family came to Wilmington, NC from Ireland in 1863 and 5 sons were drafted. Two made it out. So honestly, its not about flying the flag of a cause that your forbears believed in, because nine times out of ten, your forbear was just a dude in a bad place.
